What is actually the definition of cinema? Action, a good script, a better cinematography or a perfect role play? On this experimental as I can say film, maybe you can't find any of these or you may explore some new frontiers. It is all filmed in a Disney entertainment park, where you find Jim and his family try to spend some happy moments together until the father gets a notice that he got fire. After that, he obsesses with two young girls and starts being paranoid. The place seems to be unfriendly for his family and various issues appear in their relationship. The story goes insane more and more, presenting both surreal and horror elements into. A really bizarre film that made my mind move through his stunning black and white video production. So cinema or not, this gem is not for anyone!

Ruta Destroy! (2002)
This is a really odd stuff from Madrid of the 00s. Seems like a video clip blending all the acid experience of the rave movement with small music performances. The amateur actors give a real touch to the project and the funny sketches are completing it's purpose. Another alternative cinematic experience for sure. It was on Fantasia Film Festival. Montreal, Canada. You can find it on dvd "Short Gauge Trauma".

Still life (2005)
A young man drives into a desolate town where something strange happens. When he involves into a car accident, he realizes that he is the only human around as the city is a residential for lifeless mannequins. Things get worst when he tries to find shelter into a house. Creepy and with a working scenario this short film really made my day. If the budget was bigger maybe we could have a better result though.

La leggenda di Kaspar Hauser (2012)
Italian director Davide Manuli takes the real old story of Kaspar Hauser and transforms it on its own unique way representing a rare and bizarre film. It's like nothing you have ever seen with its minimalistic form as Manuli explores the boundaries of cinematography and presents an unexpected and difficult gem that is dedicated to the alternative audiences. Kaspar Hauser was a mysterious young man who appeared in Nuremberg in 1828 with lots of physical and psychological problems and died without a reason a few years later. Manuli sets him on an deserted island in the Mediterranean sea, founded by the Sheriff who tries to understand and approach him. Soon the Duchess who rules the place wants to meet him and find out what happens with him and if he is a threat for her kingdom. What is the purpose of his arrival and is he someone special or just another impostor? You should better understand this film if you tried before the older film 'The enigma of Kaspar Hauser' by another great director, Werner Herzog. Manuli also explores the relationship between man and God and you can see some kind of relation between the path of Kaspar and Jesus. Just open your mind and eyes and enjoy a special experience. Can a dj be a God? Vincent Gallo also gives another great performance on a double role as the Sheriff and his brother, the Pusher.

ReGOREgitated sacrifice (2008)
Lucifer Valentine is trying to become a famous producer and director of horror snuff films. But I think she has to try more. You can't have an obvious ending without a script though. This homemade looking video seems to be more a low budget movie or better say a cheap production than a serious attempt for a gore surprise. The whole film is separated in several sections but the result is about the same on each one. Girls licking each other, naked women pissing around, some of them are the victims ending at a gory way, one is decapitated but the scene is not convincing at all. If you want to try this at last, I am not responsible about your yawns.

The Vegan Vampire (1928)
This was a funny idea that turned out to be a clever short about a vegetarian vampire. Every time the creature wanted to feed its hunger with blood, it turned being sick and threw up. Until its tragic end!

A mosca cieca aka The blind fly (1966)
I think that Romano Scavolini is one of the most radical Italian directors ever existed. This almost silent film has been censored and rejected for his violent scenes, even if it was well received at the Pesaro New Cinema in 1966. It contains a quotation from Beckett off-screen at the critical moment. The story sometimes seems like a puzzle where a simple man who is sick from his environment, suddenly starts killing several people near a stadium. There are also moments from his life, discussing with a friend about fear of death and various meetings his beloved girlfriend. This film was never projected and there is no trailer actually. It is dedicated to human behavior and it needs special attention to concentrate and focus about its real purpose. A really rare and lost movie that will give you the creeps with its intense direction and its stunning photography.

Rubber (2010)
Rubber is the SHIT! Maybe the most fresh fantasy flick out there last five years. It is a glimpse, but it is not for everyone, that's for sure. Robert is our hero. But not the typical human hero because Robert is a tire. Yes you have listen well, he is a tire with telepathic powers. He was born in the middle of the desert and now he is ready to explore the world. Alone. He don't care about other forms of life and he uses his powers to eliminate anyone or anything standing in front of him. You can also see a real audience trying to understand the whole story as surrealistic incidents happen. The line between reality and myth is so thin. And so entertaining also. You will laugh, you will think of the terms this cool film suggests to you. A clever story with lots of fun, good actors and creativity.

Lightning - Paul & Marlene Kos (1976)
Going back to the roots of experimental cinema we will find Paul and Marlene Kos. This interesting short video focuses on observation of natural phenomena, presenting the obverse of the "If a tree falls in the woods..." conundrum. A simple idea that leads to a stunning experimental short film!

Hunter Prey (2010)
This film was a surprise on directing a sci fi story with so small budget.
The plot is simple with some scenes of action but after the half of it, you can expect the unexpected and a real smart end.
Two civilizations conflict, a strange space clan and the Sidonians. The reason for this galactic war is that the aliens protect the space refugees Draks.
When a spaceship crashes on the surface of an unknown planet, its crew will try to catch their Alien prisoner alive without know the secret of this special one. A battle for survival will start on the desert but who is now the real hunter and who is the prey? A very amusing movie that reminded of me some old comics of Moebius and Bilal!

Amore tossico (1983)
This is maybe the best film about drugs. And the reason is that the Italian director Claudio Caligari used real junkies and non professional actors to show the image of this tragical story where reality is a fact and death is all around. Cesare and his pals are looking for their next fix surviving at the detached suburbs of Rome. He lives a distorted romance with Michela taking more and more drugs and trying to find a meaning at their misery. This circle of ill people steal and spend their time looking for money and the pleasure of the moment. The main actor, Cesare Ferretti, died of AIDS in 1986. Several co-actors also died some years later. It is a shame that these young people died in real as no one could help them survive from the nightmare of drugs. This film is dedicated to all people and their families who suffered from the drug illness.

Incal & Arzach - Alejandro Jodorowsky & Jean 'Moebius' Giraud
These are two trailers of the extraordinary animations 'The Incal' and 'Arzach' that never unfortunately finished. Jodorowsky & Moebius are the masters of the European comic design.

The Burning Moon (1992)
The Burning Moon is one of the bloodiest movies ever.
What do you want for the menu?
Rapes, decapitations, killings, stabbings, head explosions.
As gore as you can take without throwing out your dinner.
Directing and acting are awful but the soundtrack is just fine.
Olaf Ittenbach is an ultra gore director and knows the tips for a good splatter movie. He is also the protagonist, playing a guy who is addicted to drugs and fights around with his friends. He has a lot of problems in the house and when his parents leave him with his younger sister, he will fright her telling two disturbingly morbid stories.
The first one could be the ideal love story but the man is a psycho killer who escaped from a clinic and starts killing everyone who meets. He falls in love with a woman but when she finds out who he really is, she is leaving him. But he will follow her at her house and the bloodbath will begin. At the second story we will find a satanic priest who rapes and kills various women at the small town he lives. A lot of people think that another guy is responsible for the massacre and soon they will pay someone to kill him. In the middle time the priest committed suicide but he will help the innocent man to rise from the dead and take revenge on his murderer. A cult film for viewers with guts!

Ovoce stromu rajských jíme aka Fruit of Paradise (1970)
Welcome to the fantastic world of Czech director Vera Chytilová.
You haven't taken pills and this is not a psychedelic film.
There are layers of image on top of image with fast camera cuts.
It's about the story of Adam and Eve into a modern and illustrated way.
They have fun at God's place until devil appears with the form of a middle aged man.
Devious as he is, he will try to put the evil ideas through them and separate the couple offering temptations at both of them.
The plot goes deep as it gets more and more surreal and philosophical.
It is an extraordinary movie lost in time because it was censored and banned by the Soviet/Czech government.
Another masterpiece of Czech cinema!
