New Bags!

I've had a really productive week sewing.
I've just listed in my Etsy shop
in my newest fabric combination.

The Small Project Bag-- a favorite of sock knitters!

There's also a matching
I tucked this little bag in my large (heavy) purse
when I went to to NYC a couple of weeks ago.
It's what I carried when Kate and I were
out and about and it was really convenient!

New Bags!

How was your weekend?
I spent mine sewing.
I recently acquired some new fabrics
and was itching to make something.

This is The Katherine Tote.
(Can you guess who it's named for?)
The fabric is an abstract stripe named "Rishikesh."
It's a heavy poly/cotton upholstery in colors of
gold, yellow, brown, blue, green and a deep rose.

It's lined with an elegant print by
Lydia Irwin Designs for P/Kaufmann Fabrics,
which has a soil & stain repellent finish.

I also made a Small Tote.
This bag is favored by sock knitters.
It's a small bag, think fabric basket,
and is ideal for those small knitting projects.

I lined this bag with a pretty screen print fabric from
Mill Creek Fabrics.
Can you tell I have a serious fabric addiction?
You can see these and all my bags at
my Etsy shop, ButtermilkCottage.
Come visit!

New in My Etsy Shop

It seems as though
I've been keeping my sewing machine
running non stop for the past several days!

I've just listed this pretty new
knitting bag at

It has a rich paisley lining.

I've also made needle cases to match!

Don't forget Etsy when doing your
Christmas shopping.
The possibililties are endless!

Absent but not Idle!

Do you ever feel as though you're in a race with the clock?
As though there are not enough hours in the day,
for all the things
you need to do,
want to do?
That's my life right now.

Nancy and I are working diligently getting ready
for our upcoming Holiday Show.
One week from today is our Preview Party. (tick, tock...)
I've been frantically trying to finish up last minute projects,
organize things,
inventory and price items.
As a result, the disorder in my house is beginning to
strain my comfort level.
(Have I ever told you I'm a bit of a control freak?)

I almost can't stand to go into my office/sewing room.
As a result, some things are being ignored.
My little blog has been sadly neglected lately.
And it's been ages since I've "gone visiting!"

I have been accomplishing some things though.
The invitations are in the mail...
I have just sent off a large wholesale order of really cute bags

to Yarn Expressions in Huntsville, Alabama.

And I've completed lots of cute little sheep ornaments

made from "up cycled" felted sweaters.

What's on your "to do" list today"
Mine is a mile long.
I keep reminding myself to
"enjoy the journey."
 You enjoy the weekend!

Let's Do a Little Organizing Today!

I've been at my machine this weekend sewing knitting needle cases for the Hillsborough Yarn Shop in Hillsborough, N.C. They've ordered a selection of

six and twelve pocket double point needle cases.

This is a wonderfully easy and pretty way to organize your knitting needles.

I also make twelve pocket cases for circular needles.
My motto is "Always have ALL your needles with you. You never know..."

I even do a small case for crochet hooks. Every knitter should always have a couple of crochet hooks in her bag for picking up dropped stitches and correcting mistakes.
My knitting needle cases are available at your local yarn shop
or at my Etsy Shop.
You can even get a matching knitting bag!

Now that we're all organized, let's knit!

Fun with Fiber

I've had a couple of busy sewing days.

I've just completed an order for a shop, FUN WITH FIBER in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Now, all I have to do and pack it up and send it on it's way via UPS.

This time next week, they'll have a new selection of knitter's totes with matching accessory bags. If you're in their area, stop in and take a look.

Time now to enjoy the weekend! Have a great one!
