Beute FT 17 painting

Started painting this little fellow.

Primer- mix of automotive plastic primer and toluene thinner.
Base coat- mix of Tamiya's white, buff, and Lifecolor's sand- gray, few drops of AK thinner for acrylics, and some gloss varnish.
Exhaust base color- Lifecolor dark rust.

Got the 3 color polish camouflage colors sorted.
Based on the Lifecolor set, but with lightened green. Brown straight from the bottle.
Some chipping using hairspray technique.

Once the paints have dried overnight i put it all together to see where the colors need adjusting to tie it up more.

Resprayed the large brown patch on the right side of the hull.
Painted the sponson numbers, and the name on the turret.
Now the step, that makes the model look bad, before it can be nice.
Using dry brush with light base color i blended the camo patches.
Then the very diluted buff was sprayed all over to blend it even more.
After some oils the effect should be pleasing.
Yellow filter was applied with vertical motion over the whole vehicle.

Wash, pinwash, more fading, and some streaking. All done with oils.

Chipping done.
Some pigment mud on the lower part of the hull.

Final assembly:

Kettenwagen- the base

Finally after 3 years on the shelf i finished the base.
I used the granite stone for the base, and sanded the lettering in.
VW logo was cut from the polistyrene, painted and weathered to look like rusty wartime piece.

Citroen 2CV Furgonette

The kit just arrived today.

I'm starting the build.
It will be austrian Vespa Service vehicle from Josef Faber workshop in Wien.

Floorpan with the motor
Body put together not without the problems. Unlike other Tamiya models, which assemble pretty nicely, this thing needs lot of work.

Dry fitting the custom decals

Painting started

Opel Blitz- crane

Started building the crane from scratch.

Almost ready- just weathering left

Opel Blitz- superdetailing

Started adding the lovely details. I just enjoy this part of every build.
Added two pull handles on the side of each door, both door handles, and the bonnet locks.
I have assembled the cab for good now, with all the windows in place.

Added the headlights, searchlight, and the contour indicators

Mirror added.

Indicators, and reg plate

Tail lights on

Opel Blitz wrecker 1/35

Opel Blitz cargo truck from Tamiya in 1/35 built as the post war wrecker truck.

Chassis. Scratch built the locker lid, drilled the exhaust pipe, reworked the pin mount on the tow.

Finished detailing the tow hitch, and exchanged one front tyre for the civilian type.
Started work on the loading area. I added the wood grain, and damaged some of the planks.

Chassis and wheels painted base color.

Next i painted the bed.
First layer of Wooden Deck Tan, slightly lighter for scale effect, then filters of yellow, white, grey, and brown.

Gloss varnish, and dark wash followed.

Layer of hairspray, and dark green paint was next.
Phone number was cut on plotter, and sprayed with white, broken with little black, and yellow.

Washed the paint on the numbers also.

Due to the copyrights laws, Opel Blitz badge is missing from the radiator grille.
I used Green Stuff to sculpt the radiator winter cover.

I filled the places where the tools should go on the fenders, as i will not fit any of them.

After making the 3D rust texture in some places, flat brown was sprayed.

Then i used the kitchen salt:

...and the first colour- black.
When dry i used the thin mixture of Levelling Thinner, and Red Brown, and with the help of the sponge i dubbed the surface of the paint, until the mapping appeared.
When i was happy with the result i sealed the black with the layer of matte varnish:

2 more colours added:
