Miniature sunbeds

It is a long time since I have been making miniatures or posting, but here I am again 😀 I have made some progress with my beach scene: there are a couple of sunbeds, the sand, and of course the Sea! 😀

Miniature flower stand - Soporte de flores

I discovered the air-dry polymer clay quite recently and these flower pots are one of the first things which I made from it. I really like it because if you use molds, you can just leave the items to dry in the molds overnight.

I made the flowers from silk paper and the green leaves from papercord. When you open papercord, you get nice variegated paper strips.

The legs of the stand are made from ornate toothpicks.

The best Easter surprise! - La mejor sorpresa de Pascua!

I got the best surprise this Easter! My friend Pirkko brought me a mysterious old shoe box and when I opened it, I could hardly believe my eyes! The box was full of old dolls and dollshouse furniture which Pirkko used to play with in the 1960's. They are just the kind of vintage furniture which I have been looking for in the flea markets to put into my Lisa dollshouse.
This red wooden kitchen table set is adorable!
Another wooden table set. It is very well made. It looks like solid mahogany.
The two lamps were real working lamps when Pirkko had them in her dollshouse. I have not had the time to try them yet.
This red plastic sofa set is made by Combex, England.
All the dolls have moving eyes. I especially like the little girl in the middle.
The rubber bands holding these dolls together have crumbled apart in the course of time. The dolls now need some tender loving care!

Thank you Pirkko!

Water slide decals for decorating - Siirtokuvia koristeluun

I bought some floral water slide decals from Eden Miniaturas and I tried them for decorating this cupboard. I am quite pleased with the result. I have never used such decals before. I messed a bit with the tiniest pieces when they were wet - some of them just disappeared somewhere from my fingers! But luckily I bought several sheets, so I have plenty of extra pieces. I am going to use them for decorating more furniture and some plates and other dishes.

Miniature bed - Nukkekodin sänky - Cama miniatura

I already had a bed in the Erlenhof bedroom, but the as the first one was pretty big, it was taking too much space in the room. That is why I made this smaller one.

Another mistake which I had made with the bedroom (as with some other rooms in Erlenhof, too) was that in addition to chosing rather dark wallpapers, I also made or bought some dark brown furniture. As you can guess, the result was that I was having some quite dim rooms in my Erlenhof! I am not going to start re-wallpapering the rooms, but I am now making some new furniture with lighter colours or re-painting some of the old ones.

People sometimes ask me when my Erlenhof dollhouse is going to be finished. The way I am doing it - re-making, re- painting, re-organizing - I am never going to have it finished! But the purpose of my hobby really isn't to have a completed dollhouse. I do it for the fun of doing!

Kitchen sink from polymer clay - Tiskiallas polymeerimassasta

I needed a new sink for the kitchen in Erlenhof and I made it from polymer clay. I know that it looks quite bumpy, but it was a lot more bumpy before I sanded it! (Fortunately you are able to sand Fimo after baking it.) In the other picture you can see the sink in the kitchen, which is still very unfnished.

Miniature piano - Nukkekodin piano

I planned this piano for quite a long time until I finally got it made!! I printed the keyboard on cardboard and the rest of the piano is made from different kinds of wood materials. I still have the piano stool to make.

I made a sidetable for the living room in Erlenhof.
The ornaments are made from Dress It Up embellishments.
Tein sivupöydän Erlenhofin ruokasaliin.
Koristeet on tehty Dress It Up -koristeista.
I crocheted the table runner by adapting one of the crochet patterns in Hildegard Åstrand's book Lace Crochet. The book has several patterns for narrow laces which are suitable for crocheting miniature table runners, curtains, shawls etc.
Pöytäliinan virkkasin soveltamalla yhtä Hildegard Åstrandin Pitsinvirkkaus-kirjan ohjetta. Kirjassa on paljon malleja kapeisiin pitseihin, jotka sopivat hyvin nukkekodin pöytäliinoiksi, verhoiksi, huiveiksi ym.

A miniature spinning wheel - Miniatyyrirukki

I made a spinning wheel from balsa and from different kinds of spindles and tooth picks. I had no idea of how a spinning wheel really works (and I still don't have!) but I think that my spinning wheel looks real enough anyway!

At the miniatures fair - Miniatyyrimarkkinoilla

My friends and I visited the miniatures fair in Lahti organized by the Dollhouse hobbyists of Päijät-Häme. The event now took place in a new location in the industrial Area of Asko. The change of the places was a very good idea. There was now enough space for looking and walking around.

Kävin lauantaina ystävieni kanssa Lahdessa Päijät-Hämeen nukkekotiharrastajien miniatyyrimarkkinoilla. Tapahtuma järjestettiin nyt uudessa paikassa Askon teollisuusalueella. Paikan vaihto oli todella hyvä idea. Nyt oli tarpeeksi tilaa kävellä ja katsella.

I bought this old eleven piece furniture set. Also the cushions were included. The seller mentioned that the set was once in her childhood home. It is such a treasure! It has some lovely scent and feel of the old-times in it. I will put the furniture in Erlenhof and probably I will place the pieces in different rooms.

Ostin tämän yksitoistaosaisen vanhan kaluston. Myös tyynyt olivat sen mukana. Myyjä mainitsi kaluston olleen aikoinaan hänen lapsuudenkodissaan. Kalusto on minusta kerta kaikkiaan aarre!
I also bought some wallpaper. I have been a little stuck with wallpapering one wall in the dining room of Erlenhof, because I ran out of the wallpaper which I used for the other walls, but I that think this is now the solution. I also found cute plastic sticks with fleur de lis ornaments, a bath tub for a baby doll, some wood and golden sequin ribbon.

New attempt: chair - Uusi yritys: tuoli

I think that this chair fits better with the desk, doesn't it?
I could not get rid of the animal pattern fabric, though!

Tämä tuoli taitaa sopia paremmin työpöydän kanssa?
Eläinkuosisesta kankaasta en kuitenkaan päässyt eroon!

Miniature armchair - Nukkekodin nojatuoli

I was going to make a chair for the writing table in the study in Erlenhof. It turned out like this and now I am not sure if I am going to place it in the study after all or in the living room instead...
I have bought this nice leopard print fabric from Minikitz as also the tiger print fabric which I used for making the tiger skin which is on the floor. The golden leaves are jewelry parts and I also used dresden trims (embossed foil paper trims) for decorating the chair. The dresdens are quite nice for decorating miniatures, as they are easy to cut and shape.

I made this table and bookshelves for the Erlenhof study. The front of the bookshelves is made from a large Euro Mini's window (I used another window frame for making the fireplace). The table is decorated with a painted fabric trimming ribbon.
Tein tämän pöydän ja kirjahyllyn Erlenhofin työhuoneeseen. Kirjahyllyn etuosa on tehty isosta Euro Mini's -ikkunasta (toisesta ikkunan karmista tein takan). Pöytä on koristettu maalatulla kankaisella koristenauhalla.
