Christmas Day 2016 - Fail

I did some stamping for Xmas nails - a big fail.  But hay-ho, have to share the likes as well as the not!

Used an OPI red and PIA glitter red as well as a born pretty red stamping polish.

26 Great Nail Art Ideas - Red and Pink - Skittlette with Water Decals

Well it's now the 8th manicure of the 26 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

The challenge this fortnight is Red and Pink.

I've also incorporated a gradient which makes this manicure a skittlette.  And I had to add a few water decals, I used pink and red rose decals which match the manicure colours perfectly.

26 Great Nail Art Ideas - Christmas Preparations

5th manicure of the 26 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

The challenge this week is Christmas Preparations.

I think of wrapping presents while it snows outside (not that it snows an awful lot here in the UK at this time of year).  But that is my theme for this challenge.

I used one coat of OPI and then on top a coat of the Color Club glitter.  For the ring finger I painted on a bow for the present and used the Milani glitter on the white.  For the index finger I used snowflake decals and voila...

Week 50 of the 52 week 40 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

Two  more weeks to go ......

Challenge this week is Red, Yellow and Green and my personal pattern prompt - Negative Space.

What more can I say... well the red and yellow stripes could have been neater, but overall really pleased.

The orange stain on my finger is fading mehndi (henna) that my daughter did on me.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Summer

Week 37 of the 52 week 40 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

This week the prompt is Summer.

I am trying to do some of the challenge nails in advance.  I did these nails a few weeks back.

I have used OPI Alpine snow for the base colour.  The main gradient here is done solely using acrylic paint.  I started off using just an orange and deep red but thought it needed something else.... So.... I added a lighter orange at the cuticle and three sponges later I had a beautiful hot summery gradient.

To finish, I added some lacey decals and some studs.  Overall, I loved this on and got many compliments.  (was asked where I got them done?)  Just wishing now our summer is just as hot.

The acrylic colours I used are Orange, Vermillion and Deep Red.  The decals (10 black and 10 white) are from Aliexpress and I have used them before, here and here.  I also used a very similar set from Sparklynails here.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - 3 Shades of Red/Orange - Fluid Lines

Week 30 of the 52 week 40 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

The prompt for the challenge this week is 3 Shades of Red/Orange  and my personal pattern prompt - Fluid Lines.

I was in a hurry and this is not quite what I had in mind but here you go.  As it goes the red by LA Color had a gelly finish and so I ended up with a sandwich of the fluid lines.

I started off doing a gradient with LA Color Moody Red and Pride of London orange, but you couldn't see the difference really.  Then with the lightest orange I did some random fluid lines, topped it with another coat of moody red and voila.....

Week 20 of the 52 week 40 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

This week the prompt was Red and my personal prompt was Dots.

I love this Red, it is opaque in one coat, although I used two for this manicure.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Films

Week 17 of the 52 week 40 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

This week the prompt is Films.

Its been a busy old week all home and work, so I did a simple manicure using decals.

My manicure is based on film icon and legend Marilyn Monroe.  The red nails are to symbolise her iconic red lipstick and the white nails for the iconic white dress she wore in The Seven Year Itch.  I have used nails decals on the two white nails.

I have used OPI Alpine Snow (white) and the red is an un-named red from my daughters glossy box.
