Princess.

I didn't think I would ever get here to post! For some reason my google page would not let me access my blog today. I think there are techno people out there who like to tease me...either that or I am just not that saavy--I think it is the latter.

So without further ado, here is a simple page that sweetens my heart. You may have spied it in my stamp room post...it was hanging up in my room. I didn't get a chance to photograph it right away and have been meaning to ever since.

This photo was taken just after my daugther's second birthday. I can't believe how much she has grown since then..but one thing is for sure, she is still my princess. Oh and she still likes to dress up :)

I am still on the mend. My poor hubby is now sick too. I think it is only a matter of time before the kids are sick--but we are madly washing hands and keeping things clean to prevent the spread of the flu. I hope this post finds you all well or on the mend too!

Sweet. Cute. Fun.

Our guests are leaving in the next 24 hours. I will be sad to see them go and of course the quiet house will be a reminder that everyone is gone too... insert *SAD* face.

Here is another scrapbook page I created before my visitors arrived. I just LOVE this photo of my daughter. It was taken in front of the shed in our backyard. We have since cut her hair so I just love looking back at her sweet braids.

Gotta love rub ons on photos!

A belated scrap challenge

I completed the CHF scrapbook challenge from Sept 17th but had a delay in posting it. Here was the awesome sketch:

And here is my take on it:

I used the Pindot Scrapblock TM with espresso ink and then stamped the scarecrow using hazlenut ink. I love how this turned out. Customized 12x12 paper!

I used a Scrapblock to decorate these strips of paper, then edged it with brown ink.

Notice the edging--I brushed white and blue ink along the edges to give it appeal. Also, I used straw as a means of threading my button. You'll also notice that I used the polka dot backgrounder to dress up my paper strips as well as edging with ink. The "sweet" sentiment is a rubon.

I stamped pumpkin under my image using All Things Fall from the Rummage Bin line. I edged my arrow with espresso ink.

I made my tag using distress inks (blending) and stamped it with Lined Paper backgrounder, Beautiful (Rummage Bin) and All Things Fall (Rummage Bin).

Unique Beauty

Since I started scrapbooking/stampbooking for some of my CHF assignments I can honestly say I cannot get enough of it. I started scrapbooking shortly after the birth of my son in 2002. I tell you though, I would dream up pages, collect the stuff and never do it. I think I only managed to get through 6 layouts done before I stopped. The main reason was that my kids were born 14 months apart so having two babies--almost like have twins, was enough work for me that I could never get a layout completed. That's why I started card making in 2003--quick and easy and finished in an hour. One of my best friends owned a scrapbooking store so I managed to go to a few crops and retreats to get some layouts done but wouldn't you know it...life was still just as busy. Hardly any scrapbook pages done. Flash forward to this year. My goal is now a minimum of 3 layouts a month. It's doable. It's not overwhelming and I am LOVING IT!

Today's layout was one I just sat and created--no sketch...just time on my hands. I was SO inspired to pull out my butterfly stuff after seeing all the sneak peaks on blog and company websites sharing CHA highlights.

I used a rub-on on the butterfly mirror.

I stamped the edges of my page with the flourish from the Beautiful Set (Rummage Bin collection) by CHF. Also note that I used rub-ons on the photo as well as the glitter die-cut.

LOVE that beauty rub-on as well as that funky ribbon trim!

Hope you are having a terrific Saturday. We get to celebrate the town festival today. They always begin with a megaphone annoucement for the pancake breakfast (that annnoucement is at 7AM and is made by a man who drives up and down all the roads in town) and then we have a parade followed by crafts, games, pie contests, pet contests and booths etc. It should be a lot of fun.

I'll have another scrapbook page for you tomorrow so stay tuned.

Create Memories.

Isn't that what taking photos is all about? Have you been slow on the scrapbooking/stampbooking? Today I am encouraging you to break out those albums, blow off the dust and find those GORGEOUS photos. It's time to scrapbook and why not incorporate your fav stamps too and make it stampbooking?

Today's layout was my creative mess. I had all these FAB embellies and paper...not to mention cute pics that were just dying for a layout. I literally found the paper and the photos and just laid them on the table while I found some matchy match stuff. Do you see those photos? That is how I laid them on the paper when I was searching for the other things--I just left them as is. Have you ever done that? That is what I call my creative mess. I {heart} it!

A few close ups for you too...

A Scrapbook Layout

Last week the CHF girls completed another scrapbook layout. I was in the midst of my release last week and didn't get a chance to finish my page or post it. Today I put the final pieces together and am happy to share my page with you.

Here is the sketch (how FAB is this???) Julia Stainton came up with this beauty!

I have wanted to do something with this photo for close to 5 years *lol* I absolutely LOVED watching my son play in his excersaucer. It was one of his FAV toys ever. Of course I know this is "old school" compared to all those high tech contraptions out there these days but back in the day THIS was a hot item. BTW, the "flash" was not from today...this photo was originally taken in front of a sliding glass door. I am a better photographer now *lol*--I am really good at learning from my mistakes.

Here is a close up of my chipboard. I painted the brown on using a clearsnap pigment ink, then stamped the letters randomly using my backgrounder. Next I added some details to the letters.

I decided to add some appeal to the magic mesh by brushing a little white ink over it.

The Full Scrapbook Page Reveal...

Have you been by the CHF scrap chat room yet? If so perhaps you have already had a peak at the sketch...if not here it is:

And here is what I did with it...

Alli's scrap tips:
I used various stamped images on the page--they are kept consistent in colour and placement. There is also a balance of colours. Typically you will find at least two of each. Did you notice how I balanced the eyelets on both sides of the page? What about the flowers? I pulled the tab colour from the patterned paper. In fact it was the patterned paper that set the page in motion. I choose the patterned paper based on the colours in my photo.

I placed my chipboard letters on the ink pad (pressing down) and then added a distressed look to them by brushing black ink over top.

Did you see that I placed a rub on on the picture? Did you notice the authentic tab? It's a journaling card. You just pull it up to read the note.
I just {heart} this photo!

CHF Scrap Challenge...

Some of you may have noticed the new section in the CHF forums called Scrap Chat. CHF carries many great stamp lines that work really well for scrapbooking. The Rummage Bin, Kim Hughes line, backgrounders, Mona Lisa Moments, even Thomas Kinkade can work well in layouts. We'd like to encourage scrappers to join in our gallery and forums and share their layouts and ideas.
I have to be honest, this is a stretch for many of the designers on the team BUT it is also a place where we can grow. Come grow with us!!!

Today is the first day of our Layout challenge. We'll be hosting a challenge every other week from here on in--both on our blogs and in the Scrap Chat forum.

Lesley Langdon set us up with a sketch challenge to get started:

Seriously...how fun is that? Here is my take on the sketch. A little different as I had to make some alterations to include some larger photos.

Tip: Don't forget to use your rub ons~they have an expiry date
I have said this before but wanted to share it again. You can see from the white letters below that these ones are almost done!

I was getting really playful with backgrounders and embellishments. I stamped the heart with polka dots again (refer to yesterday's post) but a little more subtly. I stamped a few different stamps along the side. I created the "flourish" by tracing one from the Maya Roads chipboard. I wanted it too coordinate with the patterned paper Ava Artisan Edge Pink by Making Memories so I edged it with pink and dotted it with brown marker then stamped on it using the polka background.

Here is a close up of some stamping fun (double and triple stamping adds dimension)

National Scrapbooking Day is just around the corner. And we have LOTS of fun in store at CHF. Be sure to stop by and participate in one or all of the activities:

12-3 EST - Chat with the Becky Olsen and Kim Hughes. I'm sure you know Kim is the designer of our very popular Kim Hughes line of stamps. Becky is a seriously talented scrapper and new to the CHF team. Becky joined us last month as our new Marketing Director. Now's a great time to get to know her. Feel free to pop in with your scrappin questions too as I know they have the answers!

Layout Challenge with Lesley Langdon - Join in our layout challenge! Lesley is Cornish Heritage Farm's designer for The Rumamge Bin line...a great scrapbooking line. She's designed a beautiful layout sketch to inspire you. If you don't have time to complete your layout on Saturday...don't worry! You have an entire week to do it. Create more than one if you wish! All layouts (sketch challenge or otherwise) uploaded to our Scrapbooking Layouts gallery will be added to a draw for some fun prizes.

Scrappin Tutorial - Come by and check it out. Lesley is hard at work on a tutorial for you. She also has a challenge for you to participate in to go with it.

Have a super day!!!!

Are you ready for it???

Call me crazy BUT I have another scrapbook page to show you. The full reveal will take place at 7AM PST with some of the other CHF girls! Lesley Langdon gave us a sketch challenge and I had to take her up on it.

Be sure to check back again at 7AM PDT (or 10AM EDT) for the full page and all the close ups.
