Growing up near the Welsh borders, Troy began playing guitar at the age of twelve after watching Back to the Future with it's infamous over the top Johnny B Goode scene. He soon began exploring open tunings and was quickly tuned on to the slide guitar of Son House and Hound Dog Taylor, as well as the works of Frank Zappa. He spent his formative years playing and writing with Joe Gooch (Ten Years After). In 2008, Troy built his own studio and began exploring production; recording everything from straight ahead blues to more avant-garde and progressive roots music. Out of this material came his first two albums Werewolf Etiquette and Playing with fire. Early 2013, Troy decided to form his own band and recruited bass player Stuart McDonald of Killing Floor fame. Stuart has a long history with the blues having played bass for Freddy The Texas Cannonball King, as well as supporting Muddy Waters. Stuart also played bass in Paul Rodgers' post-Free-pre-Bad Company band, Peace. The drum stool was awarded to Alex Bridge a student of the world-renowned drum teacher Bob Armstrong. Alex's dedication to feel, expression and detail underpin the trio's performance and delivery. When the Troy Redfern Band began playing live they quickly gained accolades from both audiences and media, the positive reviews came thick and fast from the UK blues media. 2015 sees the release of brand-new Troy Redfern Band album Backdoor Hoodoo via Blues Boulevard Records (Winner of the 2015 European Blues Union's Behind The Scenes Award). The album contains thirteen intensely passionate raw-rocking blues tracks topped off with high-octane expressive slide guitar solos that rip through the soul.
