STILL SUMMER!

To tell you the truth, I love wearing bright, colorful, bold jewelry all year long... it's summer for me all year long -- jewelry-wise, at least! :) But in the summer it's even more fun, as colors really pop in the sun!

The second half of August is traditionally the time when Autumn starts creeping in and days get cooler and sometimes rainy... In the North of Italy July is usually the hottest month. But this year has been a little strange... and after an extraordinarily cool and rainy July, August has been a full summer month, and now we even have a heat wave with temperatures well over 30°C!

This is the European heat alert for today. I am in that orange area in the North-West corner of Italy...

HOT & COLD EUROPE

Europe is cut in two... weatherwise, that is! An extremely hot area and a cold, rainy area... It's raining again today! Feels like October... 16°C right now :(

Rainy

It's been a very rainy August in Germany, and floods have been happening in large areas of the country. The night between Thursday and yesterday heavy rains caused floods here in Bayreuth's area too, and people have had flooded gardens and cellars. These are two pictures from flooded spots here in the neighborhood. Fortunately the village where my mom and I are staying didn't have any damages, the little creek flowing through the village and right in front of our Gasthaus seems to be well protected.

In the meanwhile it's still full summer in Italy...

Longing for the SUN!!!!!

Landscapes and villages are really beautiful here, but after over 2 weeks of rain and cold weather... I'm really looking forward to some warm and SUNNY days back home in Italy :)!
