DUBLIN - CROKE PARK - IRELAND

A heart of Dublin and place of many sports games ( mostly gaelic and international football matches)

This giant structure was designed 1913 by the architec Gilroy McMahon.

The stadium is also a witness of a blody incident in 1920, during the Irish war of independence when armed police entered the stadium and started shooting into the crowd.

The stadium was renovated in 1991, architects designed  four tiers with canopies over supporters to increase stadiums capacity  to 80000 spectators.

In time the stadium became a symbol of dublin and a pride of all supporters despite its not most attractive design.

KRAKOW - WISLA KRAKOW TS -REYMONTA ST.

Presented stadium is one of few professional footbal pitches in Krakow, Poland.

The footbal club Wisla Krakow had used the stadium for many years before , but the actual design was proposed few years ago by polish architect Wojciech Obtulowicz and his team.

They added few new tiers, designed a lot of facilities underneath the construction supporting the seats, like fans' shop, new dressing and training rooms for coaches and the players, a tv tower, new seats for the vips and so on.

The visualisation of the object looked pretty stonning but the final look is not as impressive I am affraid, which I say with great dissapointment as I am the supporter of the team.

It looks too technical to me, to much steel and concrete makes it very heavy and dehumanized, resambles rather an oil refinery than a football arena.

LONDON - CHELSEA FC - STANFORD BRIDGE- STADIUM

Chelsea football stadium is located in Fulham, London, and has a capacity of 41837 watchers.

The stadium a home for such great players like Anelka, Peter Czech, Frank Lampard, John Terry and many more)

It was used as the venue for Englands most important matches like , FA cups, Chiarity Shield and national team matches.

Although stadium has been recently renovated (1990s ) and modernized , it's design is far from the contemporary look of other footbal pitches in England , like new Wembley, or Emirates.

The stadium was built in 1876 by scotish architect Archibald "Archie" Leitch , who was also responsible for few other footbal stadia throughout the UK then it was re -built and renovated several times.

Quite average stadium with a long history and lots of supporters standing by their stadium and the club - The Blues have a really fanatic footbal fans- quite frankly , I can imagine they are the only people who entirely accept the design of their famous stadium.

LONDON - ARSENAL FC EMIRATES STADIUM

The stadium is located in London, Holloway city district and became a second home for the gunners ( arsenal football players) in 2006 when they moved from old stadium called Highbury.
The new stadiums main founder were Emirates airlines. It has a capacity over 60000 watchers.

It has a curved roofing over the seats but not over the pitch. The colour scheme of entire structure is red because of the club official colours and curved shapes een in a line of seats, make the building as contemporary as it gets.

The building is worth of seeing not only because of the famous players that have played for the club ( Terry Henry, Denis Bergkamp,Patrik Vieira,Cesc Fabregas, Ashley Cole etc.) but also because you can fill the spirit of contemporarry architecture, its simplistic and pure design.

It is one of the youngest football grounds in UK's premiereship.

Internal finishes are practically non existing and the structure is exposed as much as possible and is a decoration itself.

The tickets for Arsenal matches are not as cheap as most of us would like, but to see this wonderfull structure you can only pay for visiting the stadium at time when there are no matches going on.
It's worth it.

The design team included architects HOK Sport (now known as Populous), construction consultants Arcadis, and engineering firm Buro Happold.
The stadium is surrounded by a stylish contemporary residential blocks, which you can also see on the pictures.
