very dark, rainy and windy...

.... so, no golfing today.  Hahahha.... whew, finally a day off to do some housecleaning, laundry and stuff around here.  As you know, I lost two whole months to those damn injured ribs and now...  well, around these parts, there are only two months left of golfing season.  Arrrgghhhhh!!!  What a royal ripoff this year... missed most of it.  Next year I must. be. more. careful.  I want a whole season out there to see if I can improve my game and get more confident.  At the moment (for you golfers) ...my driver is working pretty good... but, my short game has let me down a bit.  Usually I am a pretty darn great putter and my chipping is good too..but, the long rough near the greens has taken its toll with chipping...and for some reason...I am having trouble reading the speed of the greens.  Oh, well...we know the answer.....practice, practice, practice.......

No time to bother with much blogging... it'll hafta wait til October at this rate.  Then, I'll have months to do that and other things that have been neglected.  Golf season is so short.. ... and must be utilized if at all possible.

In between golfing and yard work...I've managed to find a buyer for my motorcycle.... through a burly Harley guy that helped me unload the bike from the van when I had to take it to the dealership to have a throttle cable replace.  Sold our bike ramp too... to the guy that helped unload the bike.  He admired it and we said...it's for sale.  Sold!  ....and now ...we have helmets and other gear to sell and we will have finished with that chapter in our lives.  It was a fun ride....and Greg had fun racing....  til his accident.... but, moving on now that I know I have full blown osteoporosis and could break everything if I get hit or fall off......  my sister is happy that I will be safer on the golf course, I know..... although, with balls flying over trees from some of the long hitters...not always.....as a matter of fact..I might save my helmet and wear it while I'm out whacking balls.

Found this one morning while out watering before I left for a game....

Glistening like so many diamonds in the early morning sun......

I also found this......

..... I don't know exactly what happened here.  I knew the mommy robin was building a great nest...but, really I thought it was too close to the outside edge of the lilac bush.  Then, I didn't see her around for a few days and put my camera up at arms length to take picture inside the nest.  Only one lonely egg..... and now...nothing.  She hasn't come back.  I don't know if they just abandoned it after a particularly bad windstorm...or what.... nature is pretty cruel......

I'm a sloth this past few days...

as far as blogging is concerned. Time has slipped past .... I have been having fun baking and playing with bears and thinking about my next doll project. So... dragged out all my lovely magazines too.... then time really speeds by ... just looking at pretty pics and beautiful creative "stuff".

The weather is great right now...the past few days it has been +14C - +16C... better temperatures than it will be on a lot of our summer days. The sun feels so good on my face. I go outside and just stand there...looking around.... looking up. Worse than somebody's grandpa...you know... standing around out there watching the grass grow. It doesn't seem so long ago that I peeked out through somebody's curtains...and remarked on that very thing to Mr. B about his grandad..... now I know exactly what he was up to. ... erm...and it was about 24 years ago.... ackkkk! where did all that time go?

I wanted to move my motorcycle out of the corner of the garage yesterday so I could get at the battery and take it out. I was bad... didn't ride last summer because of my broken foot... and really didn't even bother doing that which should be done. The battery should have been out of the bike all winter in case of freezing temps... luckily it was not overly cold this winter...and I doubt the garage got below freezing. Whew. Don't want anything cracking or getting wrecked just because I was ticked and ignored my bike. It really needs a complete service this spring before I do any riding... but still needs to be ridden over to the dealer to get it done. So... battery will need charging up first....

I've been reading a few biker chick blogs..... sigh.... lots of them are riding already .. some even get to ride all year round. I can't even imagine that. Needless to say they don't live in Canada. We just had a new skiff of snow last week...and although it is now gone...we will be getting more. It is pretty much a guarantee. It can't possibly be spring here yet. Be several weeks to a few months before it is regular riding weather ... I prefer to wait until the street sweepers pick up plenty of the sand and gravel. If you happen to be on the crud...it is like riding on marbles. When I come to a stop, I like firm footing when I plant a boot on the ground. Not much happens as it should when you are sliding around on that stuff. I want to know what my bike is going to do next.

It's +11C right now... a few more great days...but.......by Friday.... wet flurries....... hmmmmm...

Tomorrow it will be another great day...

But,…. What are These Other Wires?

If sometimes our bio-dex is up; then, on other days it must be down…
Therefore it follows that… some days we are a genius and others just a clown…
Take last week, when I complained to the cycle shop guys that my battery was “out”…
…that would be out of my motorcycle if you are in any doubt…
There were smirks, winks, knowing grins and even a slight wry smile…
It took me slightly aback…but, then I thought…wait a while….
Do they think I can’t do this? That I’m just a “dumb chick”?
Well; it was all that was needed…kind of like a prod with a sharp pointy stick…..
It did sound kind of lame; even whiney to my own discerning ear.
So, then I thought, “what’s to stop me from doing it?…to get myself in gear”?
That “bike” should be running so I can laugh and ride while I Christmas shop…
Still….. never having installed a battery, I hesitate, and then of course, ….just stop…
But why should I be expecting some guy to do this for me?
Kawasaki does supply a manual… and, after all, how hard can it be?
Okay…look for the battery…carefully carry it upstairs from the storage space..
I wonder if “stuff” could spill; is it just water or will my fingerprints magically erase?…
Now to guess for a wrench of just the right size; to loosen the bolt holding the seat.
Not a problem in the big red tool-box; someone keeps it very tidy and neat…
Lift off the seat; drop in the battery; yup…the terminals are facing the proper leads…
What are those other two little wires?…perspiration is standing out in tiny beads.
Just put red with red and black with black for goodness sake; it’s not a bomb or a booby trap!
Who at the factory had fingers so skinny? maybe needle-nose pliers to adjust this strap?
Why is this seat so awkward to replace?….and I thought that battery cover was tough!
I mightily pulled; I pushed and then shoved…not about to admit I was just a cream puff..
Finally, after a few choice words in the face of defeat, plus the best darn drop-kick I had in me..
That seat grabbed the back hooks and slipped under the flange… “Alright”; I chortled with glee!
Perhaps next time I’ll buy a classy European highly superior technical dream.
Something like Ducati.. with a battery we can see…ah yes, that clever Italian racing team….
Stand back, turn the key; fire it up. Darn,…. forgot the choke. A low 7 out of 10 on my “battery” test!
Oh, and those other two wires?… I found out later they were plug-ins for my electrically heated vest !
