winter waves

A beautiful weekend..
warm days, blue skies and a huge winter swell rolling in.

Perfect for wave watching and coastal walking.

sydney from above

Palm Beach & Pittwater

A lot of you enjoyed my pics of Sydney east from the air. I thought you'd like to see Sydney's beautiful northern beaches and waterways from above, the view I had on the return trip from Byron Bay.
Lucky again to have clear skies.

The Palm beach peninsula and Kuringai National Park looking spectacular.

Is this Avalon & Newport Carolyn?

I think we're over Middle Harbour here.

The long stretch of beaches looking north to Palm Beach and the Central Coast.

Hope you enjoyed the view.

byron beach heaven

The coast of Australia is surrounded by endless beaches, mostly deserted and unspoilt. The long curved stretch of sand at Byron Bay is especially beautiful. To the west the spectacular scenery of green foothills and mountains in the hinterland. To the east the uniquely shaped Cape Byron
This is the view from the Byron Beach cafe where we enjoyed our barramundi and salmon. It's nice to relive it.. I'm already planning my next trip ;)  i wish.

Looking across to The Pass

A different kind of light to what I'm used to with the slightly westerly facing beach at Wategos. I love the clouds reflected in the sand and the shimmer of the sea.

Through the pandanus to Mount Warning

A feeling of serenity in all that space you don't get when you live in a city.

Hope you enjoyed beachcombing at Byron with us.

beach art

A hazy day at a beach near me and an artist at work. He told me he liked the light and haze in sky that day. The painting was called 'Into the Light'. I stayed and watched for a while.
I've had a few attempts at painting and art classes. I can draw a bit but haven't had any success with painting. He told me it's because I didn't persist and that's true.
I love the way he captures the light, the colours of the water and the laid back feeling of the coast.

magic beach

This is the kind of weather we've been enjoying for about 2 weeks. I think we're in for a change so I'm glad I made the most of it while it lasted.

How many cities in the world can you be in a National Park at a beach just around the corner from the CBD?

The only sound the rhythmic movement of water, wind through the trees and birdlife.

Magic!

See more of Neilsen Park and Sydney Harbour here & here.

Have a great weekend!
