Throwback | hello CAKE

Still going with the unshared layouts found in my drafts folder.  2018 me is such a bad blogger! I think pretty much all of the supplies are from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. The blue looks like Dazzlerz from Shimmerz.  I no longer have any as it takes eons to dry... but it does look good! Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Cake TN: 3

I'm starting a Traveller's Notebook documenting all the birthday cakes I had as a child. In true Laura-fashion, I have started at 3 and will go back and do 1 and 2 later.  (I've left the pages blank so it will read as in order when finished!) I used a sheet of paper from a Quirky Kit to cut out my 3 cut file.  I've designed 0-9 in matching styles all sized to fit in a TN.  They will be available to download and use soon - I just have to save them in the correct format first. I've kept things simple with a water colour-y background made with Distress Oxide inks and Shimmerz paints.  I want the pages to go together so it reads well as an album.  I've decided the constants I want to run through every spread are: watercolour background, cut file design, stamped date, square photo.  I hope this will lead to a cohesive album. Here is the process video...

Yum!!

Here is a layout for the Purple Pumpkin  June sketch... I've had a little switch up with the sketch.  I took the top layers off, turned the bottom layers 90 degrees and then put the top layers back on... I wanted to include the 'after' photo as well so I included a lift up flap... I used a strawberry brad to tie in with the strawberry on top of some of the cake slices on the ribbon   I added a swirl of crystals.  I'm sure I have a ready made swirl somewhere but I couldn't find it so I free styled with some strips of bling and some loose stones that I could find amongst my stash!  Time for out sort out methinks! Second and third generations stamping in the bottom corner. I knew as soon as I got these ribbons I wanted to do a cake layout.  I think they work well.  I think they also make me hungry!!  :) And yes, there is a spelling mistake but I didn't spot it until I had finished.  I don't t...

Recipe Folder with Cake Ribbon

I'm sharing with you a recipe folder I have made for the Inspirations site .     I got the template for the idea from the Art of Pen Pals course Ronda Palazzari is running.  We are using them as letter holders but this one I have repurposed for a recipe folder. I've used regular 12x12 sheets of card and some freebie stamps and Banana Frog stamps for the decoration...   And the yummy cake ribbon from Crafty Ribbons . I've used one pocket for some of my Granma's recipes and one pocket for a couple of recipes from my Mum.       Did any one else have a favourite birthday cake as a child?  Mine was a Harriet Hedgehog cake...  Yum!     I've also added a loop of ribbon to make a pen holder so any adjustments for ovens or half quantities can be jotted down easily.     I reckon Birthday ribbon for a card holder, macaron ribbon for a bisc...
