Hairclip Holder

I've recently had a haircut and I am, apparently, unable to buy just two of something... I must have every colour !  So I needed a way to store these new accessories. I pulled out some Swiss Dots ribbons in colours to match the Spring Ribbons Poppies and set to work. I used two barbeque skewers to give the Poppy ribbon some stability and hung lengths of grosgrain between them.  A few stitches here and there to secure things was all it took.  I added some 3mm grosgrain to hang the holder and added a couple of mini bows as a finishing touch. Thanks for stopping by!

Joy is effervescent hope

Have you ever had a 'word of the year'?  I liked the idea but found it hard coming up with one word.  In the end, I settled on this little phrase... Joy is effervescent hope.  It came from a bible reading via UCB .  I wanted to go a little deeper so added the definitions and synonyms... Without getting too preachy - this is a craft blog after all - I like that having that hope in the Lord, knowing that he is always working for your best, can bring joy; joy that just spills over out of you that you cannot control.  I want that in my life! Back to the craft... I grabbed a 12" embroidery hoop and some paper and rub ons from like for ever 's Woodland kit. I added a few sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps to add some twinkle. To hang it I added some 3mm grosgrain and my favourite mint lace from Crafty Ribbons . I added the rub on butterflies to vellum and fussy cut around them.  This gave them lots of dimension and delicacy esp...

GET WELL SOON

Here is a get well soon card I made last year as part of a handmade Christmas swap.  I made a card holder and a selection of cards for all occasions throughout the year. This is a layer of vellum over a layer of stencilling, added to a shimmer-y card base.  I added a strip of 3mm grosgrain and a few sequins from my stash. You can find a huge range of 3mm ribbon here and if you are anything like me you will want some in every colour :D Thanks for stopping by!

Dream Catcher

Well this is the most enjoyable project I have made in a while!  Isn't it fun?!    To make one you'll need a selection of ribbons and the inside of a roll of sticky tape! I added strings of buttons and lace to my ribbon dangles.  I added some vellum feathers to the end of some of the ribbons. The tape roll (I used the inside of a 3mm double sided roll) is simply wrapped in ribbon until it is covered.  Then to make the web I followed some instructions I found online .  It is quite simple when you get going, but describing it is pretty tricky! Here is a list of the ribbons and laces I used - all from Crafty Ribbons. Chantilly Anna Lace Chantilly Mollie Lace Organza Swiss Dot White/White 3mm Island Blue 3mm Petal Peach 3mm Peach 3mm Blue Vapour Swiss Dot Blue Vapour Swiss Dot Island Blue/Peach Heart Buttons Basic Buttons Pastel Basic Buttons Mixed Basic Buttons Baby Blue Now, that is quite a list - you can make one with any...

Bliss

I keep an eye on the challenge themes at Quirky Crafts .  They are, as the name suggests, always a little quirky.  I get disillusioned with anything goes challenges - it's not a challenge!  I like the fact that you have to work a bit to join in at Quirky's.  This week the theme is all white.  Tricky, but very fun! I used modelling paste through a stencil, then compared my Cosmic Shimmer mist and Shimmerz Inklingz.  (I've been attracted to Shimmerz but with the postage and the fact I already have some mists I haven't managed to justify buying.  But some how these little Inklingz pots made me buy them...)  Today was the first play with just one of the colours and compared to the Cosmic Shimmer it hits the mark. The droplets are mist, the splatty splodges are Inklingz.   It looks better in real life than it does in the photos, it's much more shimmery. I pulled out a few white layers - card, mulberry tissue, grosgrain and satin ri...

Rainbow Bow

Please excuse my lack of proper blogging - my health is fairly rubbish at the moment.  I'm trying desperately to keep up my Friday Smiles - I know they are good for me.  I'm also trying hard to keep up my Craft Ribbons DT work, which is what I'm popping in for today... It is challenge day and this fortnights theme is 'Rainbow'. I've used; 15mm polka dot in red , orange satin , 3mm grosgrain in lemon , swiss dots grosgrain in royal & lime and light orchid & purple , 3mm satin in key lime and rose bloom , swiss dots organza in purple & white . Hop over to Crafty Ribbons Challenges to join us for our rainbow challenge!

Easter

Another of the Easter cards I made... this one uses scrapbooking supplies that were on my desk at the time... Super simple, just how I like it!  And I used another of those adorable mini paperclips.  I am so in love!! How do you feel about the peel off sentiment?  I know they are old and out of fashion for most people, but I still think they have a place in crafting... Entering this card at  Scribble and Scrap Crafts . The last of the batch of Easter cards, this is made from some tissue I used to soak up extra ink when I was spray misting! I hate wasting things so I tend to swoosh some paper around in the 'over spray' on my craft mat.  I wondered what would happen if I used this embossed tissue paper, so I gave it a try and it turned out nicely. I used Swiss dot and saddlestitch grosgrain ribbon from Crafty Ribbons to make a little bow and sat my sentiment underneath.  This is one of those times when peel offs are perfect - I...

Friday Smiles

Ribbon makes me smile. Paintbrushes make me smile. Ice cream makes me smile. Colour makes me smile. Linking up at Friday Smiles :)

Giraffes, butterflies & some help please?

My enthusiasm for writing blog posts is missing today.  Rather than write 5 posts I'm going to mush all the layouts and questions in to one... maybe best to grab a cuppa! First up, I need a little help (or perhaps more than a little!!) .  I'm channelling Paige Evans a la (who?!  I read a post, I think a CKC'er, who did a post on Paige that inspired me.  For the life of me I cannot remember who, the blog name, I've been through my history and can't find it, argh!  If it was you please tell me so I can credit you!!  You inspire me!) and came up with this half layout.  The thing is I don't know which way round the photo goes.  I started off with the photo at the top, trying to be inspired by rather than copying. Edit:  It's Andrea from Hippie Art Studio who started me off on this It just looks like triangles draining out of me whilst I sleep.  The other way looks like triangles funnelling in to me whilst I sleep.  What word...

My Chair

Well, it's challenge day over at Crafty Ribbons .  The theme this week is ribbon and butterflies.  Yep, sounds good doesn't it?  I made a layout... titled My Chair.  You may have seen the Friday Smiles picture of our bun in the chair.  I combined my ribbon with my gelli plate and printed two shades of butterfly directly on to the ribbon.  So much fun and the second generation print was awesome too, it had the ribbon texture in it as well as the butterflies.  I used 40mm white grosgrain ribbon. And I spritzed through the stencil on to the 12x12.  Added a few sequins. I know I'm biased but ain't she beautiful?! And here is the whole layout... We'd love for you to join us over on the challenge blog :) Entering at: Thanks for stopping by!
