NSD Fun #2

Here are another couple of layouts I made over the NSD weekend. This is a scraplift of Emilie Chamel for Bramble Fox. I adored Emilie's layout as soon as I saw it and love how mine turned out too. Lots of leaves and a Bramble Fox camera. This second layout uses a string of stamped, heat embossed and fusst cut bunting that I made for my Mum's birthday.  She knows me well... when she took it (and her birthday cards) down from the mantle she brought it back for me to scrap with! Seems fitting that I scrap the birthday selfies we took (the day after her birthday because I forgot on the day!) The stamps are from Simon Says and are gorgeous! Shimmerz and sequins to match, butterflies... what's not to like! Thanks for stopping by!

NSD Fun #1

Here are a few layouts I made over the weekend for NSD challenges. This one combines Bramble Fox and Lottie Loves Paper challenges. The design is a rough scraplift of Philippa McCray for Bramble Fox Whilst the yellow and white striped paper bag conceals hidden journalling for the Lottie Loves Paper challenge. This second layout is based on a sketch I created for Lottie Loves Paper. This bird paper from Paige Evans is a firm favourite of mine. Never has the term thread nest been more appropriate! I added some stitching for extra detail.   And finally a footie themed layout using papers I designed. This fits a tic tac toe board from Lottie Loves Paper - blue alphas, two photos and 3+ hearts. I had to piece together some grey alphas to make missing letters.  I'm sure it looks OK but it's all I can see at the moment! I have a couple more layouts to share tomorrow.

4PP&1SS | Four Patterned Papers and One Sticker Sheet | Layout 1 | L

I don't know about you but I get overwhelmed when ALL of the new collections come out at once.  It's especially bad after Creativation when American Crafts releases what feels like 100 collections at once.  There also seems to be a supply thing and if you don't buy straight away you miss out forever .  I wonder cynically if that is all part of the plan.  Then there is Cocoa Vanilla and Pink Fresh too... mustn't miss out on them either.  This time I decided I would place one order for all things under the AC umbrella.  Lottie Loves Paper is my shop of choice and I had a good browse and made a list.  Then I crossed off most of the things on the list when I realised how many sheets of paper that would be!  I settled on 5th & Monaco (paper pad, ephemera and stickers), Paige Evans (one sheet of the pastel diamonds) and Maggie Holmes (four sheets of paper and the sticker sheet).  I was so excited by 5th & Monaco and yet it has sat there un...

Scrapbooking | hello Nanny & Gramps

I don't have many photos of my Nanny and Gramps together so when I came across this one I wanted to scrap it straight away.  I have no idea of the date and I'm not fussed either. I chose to use the one and only patterned paper I allowed myself to buy from the latest Paige Evans collection.  These diamonds remind me of quilting and my Nanny is a quilter (or was when she was able).  I was selective in which diamonds I cut out ignoring the pink ones.  I arranged them in 3 starbursts and added sewing to hold them in place. The title is an acrylic piece from Colour Cast Designs.  I must have had it for 3 or 4 years?  Crazy hoarder!  The mist in the background is Mint To Be Spritz from Shimmerz.  It's my new favourite but I've said that about all of the other colours too! As the layout progressed I realised I wanted something over to the left of the page so added a strip of the diamond paper.  This time I couldn't avoid all the p...

Scrapbooking | Feathers

This layout turned out nothing like I expected, but those are often the layouts I love the most! I started off with three Paige Evans feather cut files cut on white cardstock.  I used a range of colours of mists from Shimmerz to colour them up.  I made a wonderfully splodgy black background on 12x12 card and added a few stamped images on top for good measure. Then the first turn... I couldn't work out how to place my photo without covering up too much of the splodgy background so I chopped the 12x12 up, pieced it back together in a different order and added lots of messy sewing to join it back together. Lots of messy thread ends stapled into nests work with the free and wild background.  The next turn was to cut a few layers of vellum feathers to layer behind the cardstock ones I had coloured up earlier.  This added dimension and a bit of seperation between the bold strip of mixed media and the pretty delicate feathers. I embellished with enamel ...

Scrapbooking | Wonky Hearts Cut File

This layout started with part of a gold foiled 3x4 card from Pretty Little Studio.  I had used part of it on a layout so it had a randomly shaped piece left that I couldn't bear to part with.  I squared it off and figured I'd use it as layers somewhere along the line.  The trouble was when I tried to tuck it in as a layer it got covered up and you couldn't see its awesomeness! I created a grid of photos and my squared off pieces of gold foiled card... perfect!  None of the foiling got covered up.  I layered the grid over a cut file.  The cut file is called Wonky Hearts and is one I designed for Pretty My Page.  You can get the cut file in A4 or 12x12 as pre-cut or as a digital download. ( A4 pre-cut , A4 digi , 12x12 pre-cut , 12x12 digi )  I tried a few options for backing the cut file.  I decided blue looked best and seeing as the photos feature someone bird watching this Paige Evans bird paper seemed the perfect choice. I...

Pretty My Page | Happy Birthday

I'm over on the Pretty My Page blog today with a 12x12 layout using the Happy Birthday cut file by Paige Evans.  Please pop over and have a nosey!

Pretty My Page | Munch

I saw this Corn On The Cob file by Paige Evans and knew I had the perfect photo to go with it.  You can purchase the file pre-cut on black, white or cream card here . I coloured my cob with a mix of Shimmerz paints in yellows and greens.  My top tip for colouring cut files is if it starts to look weak and flimsy don’t try to pick it up.  Leave it flat and let it dry naturally and the integrity of the card will firm up again.  If you try and move the card whilst it is sodden with paint the chances are it will tear or rip. I recently went through all of my white cardstock scraps and patch worked together some 12x12 sheets.  I use about 10 different shades and textures of white card so I made sure to mix up the scraps and I have 6 sheets of eclectic card with a tonne of interest and texture which make perfect backgrounds for my simple and minimal scrap style. I used one of the seams on the background as a guide to add my title... I call it ...

Pretty My Page | Paige Evans

Hi Folks!   I'm using another Paige Evans/Pretty My Page floral pre cut.   Paige does floral so well it’s always a pleasure to create with them. I started off with a layer of clear gesso on a sheet of white cardstock.   I then took some lemon yellow brusho and a water spritzer and had some fun.   I also made a panel of darker yellow brusho on a scrap of cardstock.   To get the darker colour I used more powder and less water.   I sprinkled some salt on to the wet paper which encourages texture to form as the piece dries. I used some bronze paper and the darker yellow piece to back the centre of the flower.   I then mounted the flower on some foam and centred it on the yellow background... well that was the aim.  It wasn’t quite central and it was stuck fast but we’ll fix that later. I mounted the photo on the scraps of yellow and adhered it to one side of the flower.   I used tiny brown alpha stickers to add my tit...
