StickerKitten | Space Scene

I'm quite excited about this layout... I have used StickerKitten's Space stamps and Wow! Embossing powder to create a space scene.  I've then painted over it with bright colours and seriously questioned my sanity.  But this is one of those 'trust the process' techniques.  When the brightly coloured sky is dry you go over with a couple of layers of black watercolour.  When you add splatters on top of that it comes to life as a starry galaxy.   I went a little further and added some glow in the dark star sequins.  It is SO COOL!!  When I turn my light off at night I see the layout glowing.  I will say it wasn't the easiest thing to photograph but I shut myself in the wardrobe to capture this photo... I think this is my favourite layout so far this year. Here's the process video:

Scrap Academy | Watercolour Overview

I'm teaching in the Scrap Academy again today.  I'm doing a run through of all the different types of watercolour I have culminating in a layout. Lots of watercolour leaves along with some neon watercolour rings/circles in lieu of flowers. A stacked subtitle cut on my cameo - I cut it three times and glued them together.

StickerKitten | Watercolouring Succulents

I ADORE THIS STAMP!  Sorry for starting off shouting at you, but that needed to be said!  You can find it here . I have stamped and heat embossed it on watercolour paper before having some fun with my watercolour paints.  My palette is made up of Daniel Smith paints.  I used a 'thank you' stamp from another StickerKitten stamp set and heat embossed it in the same silver embossing powder. And I'm back to finishing every project with sequins - but just a few at the bottom for added sparkle and to draw focus to the sentiment. Here's the process video:

Scrapbooking | Fussy Cutting and Painting

I seem to have fussy cut the majority of a sheet a Cocoa Vanilla floral paper.  I thought I'd paint myself a background for them to sit on... and then used barely any of them on top as I couldn't bear to cover the painting!! The paints are all from Shimmerz in varying shades of blue with a touch of Miner Miner 49er - which is a fantastic shade of gold - thrown in towards the end. This is take two of the painting as the first try was far too tight.  I loosened up for this attempt so much so that I dropped the paintbrush at one point.  That made for even more looseness as I had to incorporate the extra paint it left where it landed! Embellishing was super simple with three gold thread tangles and some sequins. I have loads of the fussy cut flowers left over so I have started painting another background to work on top of.  Hopefully I'll be able to bear covering more of it up! I've reached the fantastic milestone of 1000 subscribers on YouTube.  To celebrate I've b...

Lollipop Box Club | In Green Pastures

I'm back with that 12x12 scrapbook layout I promised you using the latest Lollipop Box Club kit. I started this page off on a block of 12x12 watercolour paper from Prima.   I added plenty of clean water to my page and then started adding splodges of colour.   My favourite watercolour paints are Daniel Smith colours.   I’m lucky to have built up a large and colourful palette and was able to pick out colours that perfectly matched the floral patterned paper that came in the Alice’s Tea Party box.   I followed up the painted splodges with several rounds of colourful splatters allowing the layers to dry before adding more.   If you add more splatters on top of wet splatters they will run and mix and merge together.    If you allow them to dry in between layers they will layer up as distinct splatters.   Both give great effects; it just depends on which look you are after. Once that was dry I played around with a couple of strips o...

Throwback | C is for Cuddle

Another layout rescued from the drafts folder! The apple cut file can be found in my free cut files tab above. I think this is my very favourite shade of green.  Don't tell the other greens that though, I do love them all! Always add the little details, they add so much. Thanks for stopping by!

Lollipop Box Club | Art

Very excited to share my second project made using the April Lollipop Box Club kit 'Secret Garden'. Lisa has included a little pot of paint in this month's box and added a suggestion that we paint some leaves.  I was having a meh day and this was exactly what I needed. Painting is something that is very therapeutic for me, especially repetitive painting.  I spent some time painting leaves and sprigs with varying amounts of water and pigment, using gentle pressure on the bristles to create the curved shapes. I encouraged the blooms and watermarks by adding extra paint or water to leaves when they were half dry.  For me this is a fab no-pressure get-lost-in-the-moment kind of activity. When I'd filled up the paper I had a little puddle of paint left on my desk so I smooshed a gessoed sheet of book paper in it.  I used this as a base to build up a background allowing layers to dry (or more accurately speeding up the drying with my heat gun) before adding mo...

Throwback | Ice Cream

This layout is from mid-April 2018.  I can't remember any details unfortunately - another reminder to myself not to leave things languishing in drafts for so long! I'm liking the lose mixed media and the gentle colour scheme. Now that's what I call layering! I'm off for an ice cream, thanks for stopping by!

CSI | Case File No. 316

I had a lot of fun creating this layout... I was guided by the colour scheme from the latest CSI case file - minus the pink pop. I felt the image was really playful and whimsical and I tried to convey that with some pleated vellum.  I know it will get a little flattened in the album but I'm OK with that. I added a sprinkling of small shapes around the page using a combination of stickers and rubber stamps.  I found an old clear sticker sheet from Cocoa Vanilla Studio which was perfect for adding a few faux paint effects and a sentiment. I also got three paper clips on the page - I seem to hoard paper clips insted of actually using them... I have so many fun shapes in my stash, it's high time they featured on some layouts! Thanks for stopping by!

4PP&1SS | Four Patterned Papers and One Sticker Sheet | Layout 1 | L

I don't know about you but I get overwhelmed when ALL of the new collections come out at once.  It's especially bad after Creativation when American Crafts releases what feels like 100 collections at once.  There also seems to be a supply thing and if you don't buy straight away you miss out forever .  I wonder cynically if that is all part of the plan.  Then there is Cocoa Vanilla and Pink Fresh too... mustn't miss out on them either.  This time I decided I would place one order for all things under the AC umbrella.  Lottie Loves Paper is my shop of choice and I had a good browse and made a list.  Then I crossed off most of the things on the list when I realised how many sheets of paper that would be!  I settled on 5th & Monaco (paper pad, ephemera and stickers), Paige Evans (one sheet of the pastel diamonds) and Maggie Holmes (four sheets of paper and the sticker sheet).  I was so excited by 5th & Monaco and yet it has sat there un...

Throwback | UK Hop

Catching up on a couple of layouts made for YouTube hops last year... First up is a layout made for the UK Scrappy YouTubers Cooperative.  This is a new-ish venture and I hope you'll see more from us all soon. I used a colouring page that I had painted with watercolour as the main feature of the page.  I cut all the flowers and leaves out and layered them behind my photo. The purple piece was a watercolour experiment that turned out too cool to throw away! I mounted the white on a yellow glitter 12x12.  I gutted the middle and used it to cut out some yellow circles.  These circles help to tie the border in with the centre of the layout. I went through quite a few choices before I settled on the yellow... white, grey, sage, a few purples, blues, red and black all failed the test!  Looking back they were all fine but none of them popped like the yellow did. Here's the video: And this one was for World Kindness Day... I pull...
