Debut album by Kreator. A pretty damn brutal release for 1985, a promising effort brought forth by a young and extremely determined band. It just never stops to kick your ass and shows an incredibly young and unexperienced but hungry and inspired trio of evil thrashers. The recording quality isn't exactly the best, as the guitars are pretty thin and the drums and vocals often overpower the rest.

Debut album by The Misfits, that was recorded in 1978 but was not released in its entirety until 1997. The recording quality is raw and strong and those qualities which helped them stand out from the pack, especially Danzig's amazing singing and Franche Coma's fierce guitar takes on the singer's melodies, are on fine display. There's a fair amount of mess, but it all sounds perfectly intentional, capturing a blend of punk mess, horror theatrics and wicked humor.

Russ Anderson's vocals are very powerful and distinctive and the music is generally more original and stronger than what many other bands of the era had to offer. Eric A.K. had an extremely high-pitched voice that is very distinctive, but may not be, for some fans, the most appropriate for this kind of music. This seems to be a side project of the grindcore band AmTerrorXp and the album was going to be their 2nd one, but they decided to spread it under the name of Ciikada. It is a mix of many genres like black metal, grindcore, crust, punk even thrash reminding Anaal Nathrakh a lot. Nice inspirations, great atmospheric, chaotic songs, that become epic in some moments.

Hallman and Terror's guitar sound and riffing is perfect, Nemes' drums are solid and interesting while his vocals fit the music great. The riffs somehow manage to be grim and dark and hold a blackish atmosphere while also being fast and brutal and totally death/thrash.

Keith Deen's apocalyptic vocals gave the band a grisly edge, but what really explodes off this recording are the guitars.
