Desperteu-vos, Wake up dels Arcade Fire

Una setmana desprès encara és dificil creure que n’hi havia més d’un milió de persones a la manifestació de Barcelona (veure video de fa 2 apunts per imaginar la gentada que n’hi erem). Però el més sorprenent, o no, és la mediocritat i debilitat de les reaccions politiques. Si aquesta setmana encara parlen una mica de l’importància del 10 de juliol, estic segur que passat les vacances de l’estiu serà com si no hagués passat res. Tant d’esforç de la gent i un sentiment tan profund necessita una resposta de veritat. Qui agafarà el guant? No sóc expert en revolucions ni estic segur que la situació és prou madura per el pas final cap a la independència, però si que crec que cal que algú aglutina tanta sentiment per fer un gran pas endavant. Qui serà?

One week after the protest march in Barcelona and still finding it hard to believe that over one million people were there (see video 2 posts back to get an idea of what one million – angry – people look like). Even more surprising, and worrying, though, have been the mediocre and weak political reactions. This week politicians have at least offered words on the importance of the protest, but it looks like once the summer holidays have been and gone, this will all be water under the bridge. Such a massive response from the public requires someone to take their feelings on board and actually do something! Not being an expert on revolutions, I’m not sure the moment has arrived yet to take the final step to independence, but it is clear that someone must unify Catalonia’s future route and start taking the first steps now. Who?
