Embracing the trend - Neons

Hello there,

How are you all? Thought it was about time I got out the summer shades. If you go through my past posts you'll find that I have more of a dark taste in polishes, greens, browns and vampy shades. Pastels and Neons are usually not my 'thang' but with Festival season firmly set neons are definitely the trend to match the wellies and floppy boho hats. So here's a few bright vibrant shades to adorn your nails while braving the English weather and portaloos.

Left to Right: Wicked Sweet, The Lime Starts Here, Get Your Lem-on, I Always Get My Man-Darin, Gimme A Grape Big Kiss (Bottle).

Flash

These are all from Color Club's - Wicked Sweet collection. A collection of neon scented nail polishes. Some of them are shimmers which are also rather nice. If your not a fan of scented nail polish, China Glaze also have a neon collection out (here). My favourite here has to be the bright neon green shade - The Lime Starts Here. Color club do some fantastic collections and are quite easy to pick up on ebay. I got these out of TK Maxx for £7.99.

If you looking for a super bright neon pink then China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy might be up your street. For more muted neons then Illamasqua's Stance and Nomad might be a good choice.

So any plans to attend a Festival this year? I missed out on the Hackney weekend, so gutted!

Color Club - Nouveau Vintage

Hi Everyone,

How are you all? I've not had much spare time to post regularly, sorry. I'll hopefully rectify that soon as I get in the swing of my new routine. I've started a new job, its quite demanding but I'm enjoying it. Today I have the mani which I've been sporting for a few days Color Club - Nouveau Vintage. I know this is a fall/autumn polish but I like it so much. I've not really got into the neons yet for summer.

This is 2 coats of Nouveau Vintage, could of done with another maybe. Love the complex colour  of this one. It has brown/green/copper/gold shimmer in a mahogany coloured base. Reminds me very much of the finishes which LA Colors Cactus and Metallic Olive have. I got this in a set of Color Club's Back to Boho Collection from TK Maxx.

Are you still sporting last years shades, or have you embraced the neon trend this summer?

Color Club Bluetopia + NYX Wild

Hello Everyone

I'm currently completing my university papers for my final submission. It's killing me, why I ever chose to do a degree is beyond me?? So if I go missing in action and I haven't posted in a while you know why, I'm slogging my guts getting my essays done. Anyhoo I thought I would share with you a recent layering combo I've been sporting. I think I've said it before but procrastination is a wonderful thing.

First up two coats of Color Club's Bluetopia. A rich black inky blue, be warned though you need a base coat with this one.

Then one coat of NYX Wild, here it is on its own. A sheer blue with green shimmer.

Together = A pretty combination.

I liked this mani a lot. If you was using NYX Wild on its own, you would a 3-4 coats for a full opaque look. Layering it over a darker color I think is much more effective. Any dark colour would do. Plus Wild is very cheap, about £1.99. I got mine from Fragrance Direct online here.

Anyone know of other pretty combos I could try?

Enjoy

New W7 Collection and Color Club Haul

Hello Everyone

No swatches today, my fingers are a bit worse for wear and very unsightly. I thought I would share with you a new W7 collection I picked up this week. W7 Metallic Collection - 6 polishes consisting of duochrome/multichrome shades. I saw this set in TK Maxx for £9.99 but actually got them in Savers for £1.99 each, I'm missing one though!

Left to right: Metallic Venus, Metallic Mars, Metallic Jupiter, Metallic Venus and Metallic Neptune (I'm missing Saturn, but it is on its way to me)

Nice huh? Swatches to follow soon. I also picked three more sets from TK maxx. Color Club Foiled Collection and both sets of the Color Club Back to Boho collection (got the second set yesterday)

Price for the sets? £7.99 each! Really impressed at the price of these. They are actually cheaper then when they were being sold at Olympia Beauty in September. Wholesale price there was £19.99-£21.00.

So check out your local Savers and TK maxx, you never know what you may find!

Enjoy

Colour Changing Topcoat Part Deux

Evening Peoples

Hope you've had a wonderful weekend. I had a mega shopping spree today, and bought a tonne of polish, including some Topshop Smoke and Mirrors polishes (bought 3 of them) woo hoo!

Here is another mani I created using the colour changing topcoat I made, this time over Color Club - Electronica, from the Dance To The Musique Collection 2008, a gorgeous deep purple shimmer containing micro glitter.

Electronica

And now 2 coats of my Colour Changing Topcoat

What do you think? I love how it transforms Electronica into something completely different! Hmmm I wonder what this would look like over a dark green...or navy blue?  The possibilities are endless!! I might stick a bottle of this in my upcoming giveaway. I was going to wait until I reached the 100 follower mark, but I'm just dying to start it! Hopefully I'll start it next week or something.

Thanks for reading!

Olympia Beauty 2011

Hello All

Well I've been a serious busy bee in the last few days, I've really struggled to update any posts. Monday I attended Olympia Beauty in Kensington London. I had been looking forward to this for months, I've never attended Olympia Beauty before and I wasn't disappointed! All my favourite nail companies under one roof! I felt like I had died and gone to polish heaven. For those not familiar with Olympia Beauty, it's London's annual trade beauty show.

I have to be totally honest. I'm a bad blogger. I took hardly any photos of my day, and the pics I did get were cack. I was that rubbish my friend took over, probably because she was embarrassed at my photography skills. I swear, I took one pic at the OPI stand, and all I got was a blurred shot of OPI's Touring America collection and the sales woman's boobs! How bad is that! Oh well, my talents must lay elsewhere. Back to the show...

The show was jam packed full of beauty brands, obviously I was hunting for the Nail Polish brands. Stands at the show included, OPI, Misa, Nubar, Sparitual, Color Club, Jessica, China Glaze and so many more...pretty much all the big companies. The best stand for me by far was Nubar.

Not only were their staff extra helpful, they had a huge range of their collections on offer. Unfortunately they didn't have their new collection, the Polished Chic Autumn Collection, but boy they had some good stuff. I was spoilt for choice. Another fantastically organised, but much smaller stall was Color Club. I got a snap of their current Back to Boho Autumn Collection and the new Christmas collection, Beyond The Mistletoe.

The disppintment of the day came from the China Glaze stand. While they appeared to have quite a few polishes and an extentsive range, they had run out of a lot of shades, including Ghoulish Glow from their 2011 Halloween Collection. They was also running low on their Metro Collection polishes. If it's a two day show have enough stock for two days China Glaze please! The stall was a little bit messy too.

I had a brilliant day. The 10th Nailympics were also being held at the show, although I didn't get to see much of it to be honest. I did see some of the entrants designs though. They were amazing. Due to the Nailympics being held at Olympia Beauty, there was endless stands dedicated to nail product and tools (lucky me). There was however still plenty of other products on show, I even tried a liquid collagen drink!

The day wouldn't have been complete without me purchasing a few *cough* bottles of polish. I think I done really well in restraining myself and not buying MORE. Here are some pics of my haul.

OPI - Smokin Havana

China Glaze - Trendsetter, It's Alive

 Lots of Nubar Polishes

Nubar - Raspberry Truffle, Iris Dust, Wildlife, Sun Gold

Gold Aura, Whimsical Coral, Midnight Glory

Sparitual - Howl, Running with Wolves, Can You Dig It

OMG! I can't wait to swatch these. I was a seriously happy bunny when I left the show. I'm already looking forward to next year :-) I also purchased a Stargazer polish, which I haven't got a pic of, shade 245 I think? A representative at the Stargazer stand also confirmed that they no longer retail through New Look Stores. They are still however available online and in some independent stores and boutiques.

Did any of you UK bloggers make it?

Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique- Nail Tattoos Skull and Cross Bones

Hello All

Since my Andrea Fulerton pics have been generating a lot of interest, I thought I would show you some pics of Andrea Fulerton's Skull and Cross Bones Nail Tattoos. I used this in my mani ages ago but never got round to posting.

I used Color Club Revvvolution as a base and used one of the Nail Tattoos on my index finger. The pics of Revvvolution do not do it any justice because it was indoors, so I will probably swatch this one again for you. The nail tattoo looked great on and removed easily with polish remover.

Purchased from Superdrugs for £1.99

Tag Team Mani - Milani Hi-Res + Color Club Wild At Heart

It's a beautiful day here again in sunny London. You know what that means folks, holo swatches!! I do love holos (who doesn't right). I don't own many of them at all, but I've got a couple of lovelies to show you here. Milani 3D Holographic Polish Hi-Res and Color Club Wild at Heart.

Both purple holos. Hi-Res is a light lilac holo while Wild at Heart is a deeper darker purple, with a more linear effect holo. Both really amazing, both super FAB.

Both applied like a dream and dried super quick. Hi-Res required 2 coats while Wild At Heart was much more saturated and only needed 1.

Twinkle Twinkle

I purchased Wild At Heart from ebay for only a couple of quid, Milani I purchased from Beauty Joint who also stock Kleancolor Nail Polish (Got me self some chunky holos :-) ) and deliver Internationally.

OH ok just one more beautiful pic!!

Enjoy peeps
