Beetle Larvae - A Scarab Spranken

Hello Nail poppers

Finally the sun came out for a split second this week for me to photograph the holo franken I created using Illamasqua - Scarab and MUA - Shade 7. I also used some Barry M - Red Black and some Nails Inc - Saville Row in this one as sometimes spectraflair can dilute a shade making it less vibrant.

Here it is...Beetle Larvae

Shade

Sunlight

Flash

Really pleased with this one, I think its quite christmassy too. More of a scattered holo in comparison to other sprankens I've made. Of course I could have used my holo topcoat over Scarab, but it wouldn't have been so fun :-)

Have a wonderful evening all!!

Illamasqua Scarab vs MUA Shade 7

Hello Everyone

Remember I showed you my spider Halloween mani a couple weeks back with Illamasqua Scarab? Well I thought I would show you a Scarab comparison with one of MUA polishes, Shade 7. Why? Because Shade 7 is a whole lot easier to find.

Illamasqua Scarab is on my middle finger, the rest are painted with MUA Shade 7. Only 1 coat of each. Not bad coverage from either. Scarab was clearly a better formula, Shade 7 applied slightly streaky. Scarab is darker and richer, and also contains more golden shimmer. MUA Shade 7 isn't a bad polish though by any means, great value for its price (just £1) plus it's on the same wave length to Scarab. In fact I really love Shade 7. AND guess what? I made a spectraflair franken with these two juicy polishes. I haven't swatched it yet, but keep posted! the first sunny day I get I'll be out in the garden with my camera :-)

Once again I tried my red-green colour changing topcoat, just to see how it would look. So far every time I've used it, it has completely changed the tone of the base polish. I wanted to see how it would work with a red based polish.

Not a bad huh? The lovely winner of my giveaway won a bottle of this, so hopefully she'll like it :-)

Take care and thanks for reading peeps

My Meh Spectraflair Fraken - A Khaki Holo

Hello Peoples!

Today I have for you another holo franken (hope your not sick of these). Let me tell you I have had so much fun with the spectraflair. It's like being a kid again playing with a chemistry set or being in science class. I'd been dreaming of a Khaki holo for quite some time, so I thought I would try and create one. This is my attempt.

It's not quite there is it? I'm a bit 'meh' over this. In theory this should be great, but it doesn't quite pack the punch I wanted to. It needs to be a deeper green. I'm going to have a search and see what other polishes I can throw in it. China Glaze - Westside Warrior might be an option. So name for this one is 'Mossy Meh'.

Recipe (approx)

10 drops Essie Sew Psyched
10 drops MUA - Shade 23
10 drops Me Me Me - Proud
5 drop Me Me Me - Patient
Rest Clear Polish
3 scoops Spectraflair

What holo franken would you make if you had the chance? I've also had an attempt at making a Pumpkin colour for Halloween. I'll get some swatched up soon to show you.

Thanks for reading!

MUA Nail Polish New Shades

Hi Folks

Well, I think someone heard me moan because the weather has been lovely today here in London (woop woop). Today I have for you two of the new shades from MUA which I picked up this week at Superdrugs. MUA - Shade 22 and Shade 23.

First up is Shade 22 - a deep plum purple creme. Dragged a bit and had a slightly tricky application but 2 coats and you have this beauty.

As you can see from the water droplet on my ring finger it started to rain when I took these and lighting was pretty horrid although the colour is quite accurate. Next up is Shade 23 a dusty sage green polish which was a DREAM to apply. Loved this color! Also 2 coats.

As I said before I really like this budget range and with colours like this being released they are going to be a winner in my books. Keep them coming Superdrug!! Each polish costs £1.00 or 90p if your like me and have a Student NUS extra card you can get 10% off in Superdrug stores. 90p!! Now that can't be bad.

On another note I've joined Twitter but haven't yet worked out how to link to my blog page (so not tech person) so look me up if you fancy it!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!!

Snap, Crackle and Pop - MUA Nail Quake Polish

Hey there

Today I have a short post because my camera decided to go pop. I recently purchased two of the new MUA Nail Quake Polishes. Broken Arrow (purple crackle polish) and Shattered Ice (silver crackle polish). I really like this budget brand, and in particular adore their makeup face primer. It's a wet primer rather than a weird gooey texture primer. Having dry combination skin, I find that this primer does wonders. Anyhoo, here I have for you Broken Arrow.

I used Rimmel's 60 Second Nail Polish in Coralicious as the base before I used Broken Arrow on top. These were the only pics I captured before my camera decided to go bonkers. Hopefully it's just a temporary glitch and I'll get it working again soon. I really liked the effect, I'm not really a 'Pink' person but the purple just took the edge off enough for me to stomach.

I had this little combo on for 3 days, not one chip! Only slight wear around the tip of the nails. MUA Nail Quake Polishes are available in selected Superdrug stores and available in 6 shades, priced at £2.99 each. What a bargain!

Enjoy folks
