Digit-al Dozen DOES It Again; Day 8, Animals

I was looking through my plates recently to get ideas for the animal challenge and discovered a super cute animal image.  While I've looked at this plate a dozen times at least, I never noticed this particular image before but as soon as I seen it, I knew I wanted to do my animal challenge mani around it; this is what I came up with!

Started with a base of one coat of Sinful Colors Cool Gray and two coats each of Sation Drama Doll (pink), Maybelline Sweet Clementine (orange) and Sinful Colors Pull Over (yellow), topped with SV.

Stamped using Apipila 03 (pig and tiger), Cheeky Jumbo Plate 9 Wild at Heart (giraffe) and the super cute animals is from MJ XII replacement plate using black Konad special polish.

Added a few random dots using same base colours to accent throughout; topped with SV.

Unfortunately, my little nails don't show a whole lot of the animals so I took a pix of it...and they still don't all show up because the image is larger than the stamper ( I couldn't get it to pick up on any of my XL squishy stampers for some reason). This would be an amazingggggg image to make a stamper decal with, don't you think?  Those little giraffe's are adorable!

Here's a closer look at MJ XII replacement plate. For those not familiar, the originally shipped MJ XII plate had a couple of misetched designs and MyOnLine Shop sent replacement plates out; the replacement plate had a few slightly different designs.

Digit-al Dozen, Bling - Day 3

This mani is probably more sparkly than blingy but I didn't want to do days and days of rhinestones which is really all my uncreative mind can think of when I think of bling, so thought I would mix it up a bit with some loose glitter.  Here's what I came up with.

Started with a base of two coats of Sation Board Girl Blue, two coats with topcoat.

Stamped using white Konad special polish using Apipila P.04.

The image was a little finicky (or my stamping was off; not sure which!) so filled in a few spots with a brush and polish.

Decided to use some sparkly loose glitter to bling it up a little.  All I could think of when I was using this was I hope I don't cough or sneeze while the lid is off!

I'm not well versed on how to use this so add I did was put a little clear topcoat on a brush and applied it then dipped my fingertips into the pot.  I then blew on it to get rid of the loose glitter and then followed up with one of the fan brushes to get any loose particles off the stamped image.  It seemed to work well enough!

This pix is a little blurry but can see the holo aka bling a little better.

Topped with SV but in the process, created a glittery mess!  I guess not all the glitter was stuck onto the clear and it went all over the place when I top coated it.  I guess next time, I'll have to fan the whole nail to get rid of all the loose to prevent this.  It's not that noticeable IRL so no biggy!

NPC Challenge: Gifts

Nail Polish Canada's challenge is in week two; this weeks challenge was gifts...presents and stockings to reflect the gifts you may want.  This is what I came up with.

DSC05731-4

I should explain here that this really isn't what I would like for Christmas...I think Christmas is more about the kids (must be the mother of three in me!) so when it came time to do my mani, I thought more along the lines of kids and Christmas.  The bright colours, the presents and Santa and his sleigh full of gifts!

Started with a base of colourful skittles starting at thumb and going clockwise, OPI Bride's Bouquet, Duri Taming of the Shrew, China Glaze Happy Go Lucky, Sinful Exotic Green and Sation Board Girl Blue, all two coats.

DSC05713-2

Stamped using fauxnad XL K (sleigh and presents), OB42 (teddy bear), HD9 (stocking) and W215 (tree on pinky) using black, red, royal purple and white Konad special polish and Sally Hansen Inta-dri Jumpin' Jade. I actually had a whole bunch of toy images set aside to add to the mani....unfortunately, only had so many fingers so did a universal bear that both boys and girls would like!

DSC05719-2

Added some colourful dots using assortment of Konad stamping polishes.

AIS Challenge-Stamping Over Blue Base

This weeks FB Adventures in Stamping Challenge was stamping over a blue base.  This is what I came up with for the challenge!

Picture173

Started with skittles of blue polishes; polishes starting at the thumb and going clockwise are Essie Borrowed & Blue, Sation Bord Girl Blue, Sation Blue Sky's The Limit, Ulta Soho Blue and Duri Blueberry Daiquiri; all two coats.

Photobucket

Added a layer of Pretty & Polished Save the Date.

DSC05558

Stamped using SdP 84 for the single snowflakes on index and ring and Big SdP K on other fingers using white Konad special polish.

Photobucket

I wore this polish for a couple days but just before I took it off, topped with a coat of Essie Matte About You. (Unfortunately, the cold weather is really taking a beating on my skin and despite my best efforts, my skin and cuticles are just so dry so I'm sorry you have to see this in micro!)

DSC05577-2

Most pix I took of this mani, the thumb image didn't show up a whole lot even though it was pretty obvious IRL.  So I took a close up of the thumb; this pix was after mattifying it.

If you haven't had a chance yet to vote over at Nail Polish Canada's current contest, this weeks challenge theme was snow...you can see my entry and others here; please take a few minutes to vote if you haven't already at voting ends today!

This was my entry......but please vote for your favourite!

ARGOS!!!!!

Yesterday was the Grey Cup and for those not familiar with it, it's like the Super Bowl but the Canadian version of it!  Mayyyyybe not as big as the Super Bowl, but it's the final game for all the teams in the CFL.  The final was between the Toronto Argonauts and the Calgary Stampeders and it was played in Toronto.  These were the nails I was wearing for the game.

DSC05606

Started with a base of two coats each of OPI Bride's Bouquet (white), Sation Blue Sky's The Limit (light blue) and Duri Blueberry Daiquiri (dark blue).

Photobucket

Stamped using Konad royal purple, brown and white stamping polishing polishes using QA9 (A on ring), Konad S7 (cheerleader on thumb), CH35 (both images on middle as well as pinky) and Konad m52 (football on index)

Photobucket

Added a few random stars using assortment of base and stamping polishes, then topped with SV.  I also freehanded an A on the helmet on the pinky.  I did think about taking a small A from the etching off plates that identify them (like A series or the A from the QA plate), but didn't think I'd be able to stamp it bang on in the middle of the helmet so decided to freehand it instead.  I also free handed the pom poms with the Sation polish and a brush too.

Photobucket

TBH, I'm not THAT much of a football fan, but Toronto is about as close as a home team for football that I'm ever going to have.  I watched the game along with the hubby and my sons and also spent the afternoon making appropriate football-watching food (pulled pork, chili and the like) and I needed no excuse other than the game to do a theme mani and the Grey Cup was as good as any!  But the Argo's did the take the cup, 35-22, and it was a great game...it was a pretty good Canadian halftime show too! Yeah, Argo's!!!!

Nails to Brighten a Dreary Day!

We've had really dreary weather over the past few weeks; first lots of rain associated with Hurricane Sandy, then countless days of overcast and gray skies with very occasional smatterings of sunlight.  I hope this isn't a sign of the winter to come....so when it came time to do a mani with one of the images from the Big SdP V, I knew I wanted something a little bright to brighten my otherwise dreary day; this is what I came up with.

Started with a base of two coats of Sation Board Girl Blue with accent of China Glaze Happy Go Lucky.  Topped with SV.

Stamped using Big SdP V using FUN white stamping polish.

Dotted using Konad yellow stamping polish.  The end result looked like sunny side eggs to me even though the base is blue!

Added dots on accent with Sation Board Girl Blue.  (To finish, topped with SV which is first pix).

Hope you're having a great week....thanks for looking!
