Another Verve Sketch

Hey everyone....I decided to sit down and stamp just for me, tonight!! Since I had done the first of the Verve Sketches this month, I decided to do another one. They are SUPER fun!!

For my card, I used the Feel the Sun set, which I LOVE!! It was stamped on an MFT Perfect Panel, and then colored with my Copics. I layered my main image with Black Licorice, and used Crushed Curry as my other cardstock color. My ribbons are both from MFT, buttons from PTI, and my DP is a mix of Basic Grey's Origins, and Cosmo Crickets Early Bird.
Well, that is it for me for now!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Welcome Baby- Verve Sketch

I am avoiding what I am ACTUALLY supposed to be doing, so I decided to play in one of the Viva La Verve sketch challenges from the SCS Verve Stamps forum.

I organized some paper today, and saw this paper in my stash, so I decided to use it. I love the colors. I used Pretty in Pink and Tempting Turquoise. My image is from the Verve set, Practically Perfect. I colored my bunny with Copics. My white panels are actually one of the MFT Die-namics, Framed Greetings, cut in half.

My brads are from Michael's, and my ribbon is from MFT.
Well, that is it for me for now!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Forgotten Stamp Friday

Happy Friday fellow bloggers!! Today, I am going to TRY to start something new, and I hope that you decide to play along with me!! I am constantly confessing to having SEVERAL stamps that are unused, or that haven't been used in FOREVER...it truly is a problem for me! I have so much new coming in, that I forget about all the older stuff that I still love!! So, today is my first ever, Forgotten Stamp Friday!! There aren't any prizes...just the satisfaction of using some of those stamps you have forgotten about!! The only rule is to use a stamp that hasn't seen ink for at least 6 months!! I am going to attach the keyword- FSF01 to my creation in the SCS gallery(place under keywords). I would LOVE to see if you play along, so if you chose to, either leave me a link in my comments, or be sure to use the keyword so I can see what you got!!!! Fun, right!!

For my first ever FSF project, I used the Snow Wonderful set from Verve Stamps. I LOVE these little snowmen, and it was the first set that I thought of when I thought of this "challenge". My card was paired with Black Licorice and Red Hot card stock, and Paper Studio DP. I used the Open Scalloped Die-namics for my border, some Michael's ribbons and brads, and did a ton of piercing. My sketch is Mercy's from this past Tuesday!

Well, that is it for me for now!! I hope someone decides to play along with me!! Have a great day!!

This week's Crazy 4 Challenges challenge is being hosted by the EVER so talented, Silke Ledlow!! Her challenge, since it is her birthday month(mine too, hehe), is to make a birthday card!! Be sure to use the keyword C4C58 when uploading your creation, and don't forget to go back to the C4C blog and add a link to your card in the Mr. Linky box!!

For my card, I used the Party Time set from Verve. I paired it with this week's Mojo Monday contest sketch. See the yummy card stock I used?? It is all THREE of My Favorite Things new colors- Blu Raspberry, Grape Jelly, and Spearmint. My DP is from the Cosmo Cricket Pixie-licious pack. My ribbon is from MFT, Both circle punches and the scalloped edge punch that I used are from SU. The bling I added to my sentiment panel is from MFT, which I used my hot fix applicator to attach.
Well, that is it for me for now. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the other crazies to see what they have created for you to oogle!!

Crazy 4 Challenges- Pockets!!

Hey everyone!! It's time for another Crazy 4 Challenges challenge! This week's challenge(C4C37) was to make a card using a pocket. It could either be a pocket image, and image with a pocket on it, an actual pocket card, pocket paper...just as long as it had a pocket.

For my card, I used the pocket from an old SU set, Pocket Fun. I haven't used an SU stamp in FOREVER!! My flowers are from the Verve Stamps set, Feel the Sun. I stamped the flowers on an MFT Perfect Panel, and then colored them with my Copics. I then cut them out and added them to the top of my pocket. I paper pieced the pocket using some Bella Rose DP. I did a ton of piercing, used a bunch of Michael's brads, added some SU ribbon, and made my sentiment panel using SU punches.
Well, that is it for me for now!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

More Verve-y Sketches

I know I am such a slacker, but I STILL haven't shown all the cards I had made for the last Verve Stamps release. Here are two more of the cards that I made. The first card was made with the new O' Christmas Tree set.

I stamped the wreath with Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored it with my Copics. I stamped the bow again and cut it out and glued it on top to give it more dimension. I added a silver brad to the center of it. My sentiment was stamped and then punched out using my SU punches. I added a silver brad to it as well to make it look like it was hanging. The DP is from the Basic Grey Fruitcake line. I did a lot of piercing and added some SU ribbon. The sketch is an older Mojo Monday sketch.
My next card uses the new Christmas in the Air set. I stamped several of the trees on my MFT Perfect Panel and then again on different pieces of SU Wintergreen DSP. I then cut out the trees and paper pieced them. I then added some liquid applique under the trees and heated it to make it look like snow.

The image was layered with Mellow Moss and Always Artichoke. My ribbons and brads are from SU. The spiral clip is from Joanne's. My sketch was one of the release sketches....better REALLY late than never.
Well, that is it for me now!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Blessed Christmas

So, I still haven't had a chance to show you all the cards I made as this month's Guest Diva for Verve. I have had time, just haven't had a chance to blog them....will my life EVER go back to normal??? Anywho, I made this card using one of the release sketches and the GORGEOUS new set, Blessed Christmas.
I started by stamping my image three times on an MFT Cream Perfect Panel. I then colored all of them with my Copics and cut them out in different layers so I could give the flower some depth. I stamped the bow separately as well and then added it after layering the flower. The base is Kiwi Kiss and I paired it with Ruby Red. I added a bunch of SU ribbons, some gold brads(which I NEVER use), a ton of piercing, and it was done. After it was all done, I went around the edges of the flower petals and added some gold to them using a gold glitter pen. You can't see it all that well in pictures, but I love the shimmer it gives it in real life.
Well, that is it for me now!! Have a great day!

More Verve Sketches

This month's Verve release is now available and the new sets are STUNNERS to say the least!! When Julee asked me to GuestDiva, I knew they would be, but WOW!! Today I am in a huge hurry, but I didn't want to leave my blog unattended for yet another day, so here is another card I made for the release. It was for the second Verve Release Sketch(vsoct09b).
I used the gorgeous new Star of Wonder set. This was a fairly simple card to make too, which I am kinda starting to love now that my stamping time has taken a direct hit on my list of things to do everyday. I started by stamping the sentiment with Sahara Sand ink on a piece of Gina K. White. I then stamped some of the stars over it with Bordering Blue ink that had been stamped off once. The DP is from Heidi Grace and has so much texture to it...all the white dots are fuzzy-LOVE IT!! The ribbons are from SU, as well as the brads, and my spiral clips are from Joanne's. I did some piercing, and it was done.
Be sure to check out the Verve website where Julee has the new releases on sale, as well as all fall and winter sets, until November 15th or while supplies last.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Believe Blog Hop

Welcome to the Verve Believe Blog Hop. If you’ve just happened across my blog, you’ll want to start back at the beginning (http://poeticartistry.blogspot.com/) and hop your way along. Today we’re hopping for the Cure, sharing projects from a new set Verve just released called Believe. This set was designed in honor of breast cancer awareness and Verve is donating $10 from the sale of every Believe set to the Susan G Komen For the Cure foundation. We believe that we can make a difference. We believe that each day should be celebrated, each moment cherished and that every little thing we can do in the fight to find a cure matters.
For my card today, I decided to combine the Verve release sketch A with this week's Crazy 4 Challenges challenge. I started by stamping my stems in Memento Tuxedo Black then adding the flowers. The two pink flowers were stamped directly on the panel, the one red was actually stamped, colored, and cut out separately. To make it more interesting, I decided to go out of the box with my flowers, and I am so glad I did!! The DP is retired SU Bella Rose and I paired it with Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette. The white was run through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. I then added some pink May Arts ribbon, and some SU Riding Hood Red taffeta. My brads are from SU, and I used the scalloped oval punch for my sentiment.

Well, thanks for hopping by! Since I am the last stop on the hop, here is a link to the Verve Store so that you can get shopping PRONTO!! Oh, and we’ve got a special gift hidden along our hop for one lucky commenter, so if you see something you really love, give a little shout out and you just might win a $30 gift certificate to Verve!

Holly Jolly Peek!!

I am THRILLED to be posting this card today...why you ask? Well, because it is my first OFFICIAL peek as a Verve Guest Diva!!! Yayyy me!!! If you missed the announcement, you can find it here!! Seriously, when Julee asked, I was so excited I think I bounced off the walls for an hour...I'm sure my Dad thought I had lost my mind!!LOL!!

Today we are peeking two new sets, Holly Jolly and Christmas in the Air. For my peek, I chose to use my new FAVORITE holiday set, Holly Jolly. I am in LOVE with all the different ornaments in this set and I LOVE that you can mix them up!! For my card, I stamped the ornament on an MFT perfect panel and then colored it with my Copics. I then stamped the holly leaf separately, colored, and then cut it out. My DP is from SU, but it is retired. I paired it with Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, and Old Olive. I used some of the retired Ribbon Originals from SU, and some SU brads. My spiral clip is of course from Joanne's. I also used one of this month's Verve Release Challenge Sketches. This is sketch C, and I am LOVING all the others as well!! There are five in all and you have until Friday night at 6pm EST to get them turned in to be eligible to win the entire release!! For more details, check out this thread in the Verve Member Forum on SCS.

More Verve, Yet Again!

So I said I was gonna get all the Viva La Verve challenges done for September, but never did...boo!! I do however have my cards from two of the challenges that I have never posted(these were part of the group of cards I made while away stamping with my girls). The first was for the third challenge which was this awesome sketch with a twist of making the card for your girlfriends!! Nothing says girl to me like an AWESOME pair of heels!!

I used this gorgeous Express Yourself set. It was paired with my Cottage Wall DSP, Orchid Opulence, Old Olive, and Rich Razzleberry. All my ribbons are from SU, and so are my brads. The spiral clips are from Joanne's.

For my next card, I used the GORGEOUS Up, Up and Away set! It was for the fourth challenge, to use the provided sketch and Black and White. Isn't this kinda awesome...I was proud, lol! The DP is from SU as well as the cardstock(except the image panel which is an MFT panel). I used my Copics to color it and all my accessories came from SU, except the spiral clip.

Well, that is it for me now!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

More Verve!!

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days!! I am still trying to get used to being back at work and I had a wedding this weekend, so I have been busy busy busy!! I would say that I can't wait for things to slow down, but I kind of like having a life again...even if it mostly involves work, lol!! It is nice having a place to go and getting to interact with people on a daily basis!!

Anywho, this is a card that I made for the second Viva La Verve challenge from September. I only have one more to do and I REALLY want to get them all in before the deadline just to show I can!! I made this card during the weekend I spent with Mercy, Pam and Jessica. Mercy was super sweet and let me borrow the brand new Starstruck set from Verve. The challenge was to make a card that was smaller than normal, no bigger than 4x4. My card is exactly 4x4, and it is not only for the Verve challenge, but Mercy's sketch #39 from a few weeks ago. I stamped my image twice on an MFT Perfect Panel and colored it with my Copics. I then layered it with Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango. The DP is from the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP pack. My ribbon and brads are from SU and the spiral clip is from Joanne's.
Well, that is it for me now!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Viva La Verve!!

While up in the mountains with my girls, who I MISS terribly, Mercy was sweet enough to let me play with all of her Verve stamps, and I had a BALL with them!! I decided to get caught up on all the Viva La Verve challenges from this month. My card today is for the first Viva La Verve challenge for September. It was this SUPER cute sketch provided by Julee, with a twist of using round things. I of course went for brads cause you know how I love them!!
I started by stamping my balloons from the Party Time set twice and coloring them with my Copics. The DP is Washington Apple from SU. I paired it with Riding Hood Red, So Saffron and Bashful Blue. All my ribbons are from SU, as well as the brads. The spiral clip is from Joanne's. I finished all four challenges so far, so stay tuned for more later!!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Happy Easter Everyone!!

Yesterday, I decided to make little Easter Treat Baskets for my nieces instead of buying them like I normally do. They aren't as fancy as what I am used to doing, but I think they are WAY cuter and WAY more heartfelt!! To start, I used one of the SUPAH cute new Die Cuts that I got from my friend Jody(texasjodylynn). She has a TON of super cute die cuts for sale that you can order in any color that she has listed as available. For my projects, I used Taken With Teal and Regal Rose. Since I didn't have the actual die cuts in these colors, or enough for all seven of my girls, I used her original Tote Bag(it is the second die cut listed on the page) die cut as a template. Let me tell you, that was NOT the easiest way to go...next time, I plan ahead!!! I used my Spots and Dots jumbo wheel from SU to cover the bag die cuts in Versamark. I then assembled the boxes using some red line sticky tape that I also got from Jody. It is JUST as good as what you get from SU or the craft store, but seriously the roll is HUGE!! For my images, I used the Verve Stamps set Chocolate Bunnies. I stamped the Bunnies on Gina K. White and then colored them in with my Copic markers. The sentiments were stamped the same way and then punched out with my SU oval punches. I then filled the boxes with lotsa chocolate!! The ribbon came from my pal Julie, and is from May Arts!!

My next project is a redo of this card from a couple of weeks ago. My stepmom saw it and LOVED it, so I made one for her to give to her grandson Aiden. It is his first Easter, so it needed to be special. The DP is from the Delicate Dots DSP and from the retired Prints Pack from SU. I paired it with Bashful Blue and Brilliant Blue....I know, I was shocked too, LOL!! The image is from The Little Paper Shop and is one of their super cute and SUPER affordable digital stamps. I colored what little bit I had to color with my Copics and then popped up the egg and hands. I had someone ask me how I could paper piece a digital image. What I do is cut a piece of the DP just a little bigger than the space you want to die cut. I then attach it to a piece of typing paper exactly where the image will be printing out. I then run it through my printer and viola, it is paper pieced(well, after you cut it out, but ya know what I mean!)!! The ribbons are from SU, and the spiral clip was sent to me by my pal Jackie. It was bought at her local stamp store, I think. That is where I get all of mine too, just in case you are wondering!! The sentiment is from the Blessings set from LPS. Well, that is it for me now!! Hope you all have a fabulous Easter!!

Do You KNOW What Time It IS???

I can't sleep..it is either the cold medicine, the time change, or the 3 2hr naps I took today(hey, I am sick, give me a break), but I am NOT tired, so I am stamping. This isn't a good thing though, I have a FULL day tomorrow, and I can't be tired...but I have a feeling I will be. Oh well, what can you do? Anywho, I saw that Emily posted the color challenge, so I decided to use it to make the Mojo Monday card I was working on anyway. I had been dying to use my Fluttering By set from Verve, so I decided it would work perfect with the CC-Rose Red, Always Artichoke and Basic Black. I stamped both butterfly's with Black in on Gina K. White and then colored them in with my Copics. I then added a layer of Perfect Pearls to them, so in real life, they shimmer. They were then cut out and popped up. The sketch, as I said before, is this week's Mojo Monday sketch. Both DP's are from SU. I did add some black May Arts polka dotted ribbon at the end...I have the hardest time making a card without ribbon on it!! The brads are from Doodlebug. I did a lot of piercing, and the Gina K. White layer was run through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. That is it for me now, I should probably try to force myself to sleep..wish me luck!!

It's Late....

and I am still up, so I decided that I might as well participate in the Limited Supplies Challenge for today. Honestly, this card was SO EASY...I think I had it done in 10mins..that is INCLUDING the Cuttlebugging....yayyy me!! The challenge was to make a Valentine that would be easy to reproduce. Only restrictions were that you limit the amount of cutting you did, not too many embellishments, keep it pretty simple, and use only Reds, Pinks, White, Kraft or Black. I opted to just go with Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette. I used my brand new, Hundred Hearts set from Verve Stamps. Basically, this card was the big heart stamped in Pink Pirouette, the sentiment stamped with Riding Hood Red, cut and embossed with Classic Circle Nesties, punch two hearts from some Bella Rose DSP with my heart punch, and DONE. I did put another piece of the Bella Rose DSP on the base after Cuttlebugging the white with my Swiss Dots folder. One lonely piece of ribbon, 4 brads and it was FINISHED!! Thanks for looking...now I am off to dreamland!!

Looking For Love...The Final Sketch

I AM A VERVE CHALLENGE CHAMPION....heheheehehe, I have been DYING to do that for days, LOL!! So, for this months Verve Stamps release they are holding four challenges, 3 sketches and a color challenge. Once you get them all done, you have to put your name in the I am a Verve challenge champion thread. The winner, or rather, two winners, will receive the whole release...me likey free stamps, LOL!! For this card, I used my yet to be inked Thankful Blossoms. I am so proud, I am two sets away from inking all my Verve sets at least once. That is one of my "goals" this year...to use what I have already bought. I am not gonna lie and say I won't buy anything new...gotta keep the economy stimulated, but I am going to make a very REAL attempt to use all the stamps I have bought up until this point....I figure if I use two new stamps/stamp sets a day, I will be done using all of them in 2012(totally kidding, I will be done way before 2012..maybe 2011, hehe). Anywho..I stamped the "flower(not sure what you REALLY call it, but in Jessie land-it's a flower)" three times on Gina K. white with my Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it in with my SU markers. I cut out different layers and glued them on then added a Build A Brad from Su to the center. My DSP is from the Georgia Peach pack from SU. I cut it and it's layer out with my Label 2 nestabilities and pierced a border around the Old Olive layer. The rest is pretty easy to figure out!! I am entering this card into Jen del Muro's Blog Tart giveaway(for lack of a better word). Her contest is HUGE and for a VERY good cause. The rules of the challenge are to make one card, MAIL it to the specified charity(Dallas Baptist University), and then enter all your info on the link provided. Verve Stamps is one of the sponsors along with all my favorite stamp companies!! That is one thing that I LOVE about the stamping industry...we sure know how to pull together and support each other!! For more info on Jen's giveaway, you can check out her newly GORGEOUS blog!! By the way, you can only be entered one time, but you can make and mail as many as you like!! Mine is already in an envie to be mailed out tomorrow!!
That is it for me now!! I am off to make a starry card(for today's Ways To Use It challenge), see ya soon!!

Looking For Love Parts 2 and 3

Man, have I been posting a ton or what, LOL!! I guess I am back in a grove or something...the after holidays funk has left the building(I hope)!! I decided to go ahead and do the Looking For Love Verve Challenges from yesterday and today. They were both sketch challenges, and I personally challenged myself to use two sets that I haven't inked before: Somebunny and Birthday Surprise. For the first sketch, I used my Birthday Surprise set. I stamped the bird with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it and the balloons(also stamped the same way on Gina K. 80lb white) with my SU markers. I then layered it with Bashful Blue, Rose Red and Old Olive. The DP is from the retired Rose Red Prints DSP. I layered it with more Rose Red and used my SU scalloped edge punch to create the scallops. I then added the ribbon(both SU) and all the silver brads. The white layer was run through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. After it was all put together, and all my piercing was done, I added some glitter with my two way glue pen. Looking back, I wish I had left off the glitter, but what can you do.

For this second card, I used my Somebunny set...isn't it CUTE!! I love those super cute and floppy ears. I colored her/him with my SU markers after stamping her/him on Gina K. white with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The ribbon was wrapped around the top corner first, then I added a bow with a glue dot. The ribbon around the DP panel, is retired Close To Cocoa grosgrain from SU. My DP is from the Imaginisce Happy Birthday pack that I got from Paper Addiction. The heart was punched out of some retired Loves Me DSP from SU. I layered it with Rose Red and Close To Cocoa and then added it to a Gina K. 120lb white base that I had stamped my sentiment on. This card is a tiny bit plain...bit I think I like it.

Well, that is it for me now...gotta get to bed or it is gonna be a LONG day tomorrow!!

Anything is Possible...

with Cupcakes, LOL!! That is my version of "with enough caffeine/chocolate I could rule the world", whatcha think? I think it rocks too, LOL!! This card is for two challenges, Julee Tilman's Mojo Monday sketch (I just realized my clip is on the wrong side, so pretend with me, LOL) and the Looking For Love Release Challenges. If you don't already know, I LOVE release parties and celebrations...they are so fun, and at the end, I get to buy stamps and I LOVE that even more, LOL!! This week in the Verve Members Forum on SCS, they are having "Looking For Love Release Challenges". Day One's challenge was a color challenge to use Riding Hood Red, Blush Blossom and Kraft(or similar colors substituted). I chose my current favorite set, Cupcake Affair, and stamped it once on Gina K. white and once on some Kraft Patterns DSP. I then colored the top and flowers and paper pieced the cup. I added some Mark Richards pearls to the flowers and around the cupcake. It was then layered with Riding Hood Red, Blush Blossom, and Kraft. The DP is the same that I used on the cupcake. The sentiment is also from Verve and is part of their Here For You set. That is it for me now...I am off to tackle the HORRENDOUS color challenge(seriously Brilliant Blue-gag) over at SCS. I have a feeling this going to be an EMBRACING the white space kinda card, LOL!! Wish me luck!!

Mojo Monday

I can't even begin to tell you the last time I actually got a Mojo Monday sketch done on Monday, but today is the day people...I DID IT!! Now, to be honest, this card should have never been made...I have WAY more "high priority" stuff to do, but seriously...awesome sketch, awesome stamps, awesome colors, SEVERE CUPCAKE CRAVING...what can you expect when you combine all those things together??? Now not to sound like Jan Tink(my GOSH is that woman funny!! and talented to boot)...but seriously, isn't this card GORGEOUS???!!! Okay, maybe gorgeous is stretching it a hair, but I think it's gorgeous and that's all that should matter.......here it is, wait for it...yes, .....I love myself, LOL!!!
Okay, enough fooling around..here is my card!! I made it using the Verve Stamps set, Cupcake Affair(which is on sale people so run, don't walk...). I followed today's, yayy me, Mojo Monday sketch to create this card. The DP is from the SU Bella Rose DSP as well as the Chocolate Chip Patterns DSP. I paired it with Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette. The cupcake was colored with a combination of SU markers, re-inkers, and a blender pen. I then outlined the whole thing with my Cool Grey No. 3 copic and covered the icing with Crystal Effects. To add some extra blinginess(yep, it's a word...ask me, I'll tell ya again), I placed pearls in the centers of the flowers as well as the corners of the card. To finish it off, I added some Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip Taffeta and Riding Hood Red Taffeta ribbon, a spiral clip and it was done!!
Well, I think I have am done patting myself on the back...now to pat my sister on hers!! Here is some baby eye candy...you know you crave it!! By the way, for those of you new here...this is my nephew Jared and his best friend, my dog Sophie...too cute!!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

I love the last picture...could you tell he had had enough of the flashin by then, LOL!!! I call it his " NOW LOOK HERE WOMAN" picture...LOL!
