Love a Good Color Challenge

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today was Spaghetti Dinner for my son's Boy Scout that he was a member of for many years. He earned Eagle Scout through the troop and they paid for his college tuition, so it was a good time to show our support. My hubby is now in the living room watching the Super Bowl and I can hear him yelling at the TV. Me...I am in the craft room enjoying some creative time. It is not always easy to find the time since I have been busy with school (setting up a STEM Lab and conducting Science lessons), going to the Y, tutoring, and shopping (found some fabulous deals at Dillard's last weekend).

Today's project...
My friend asked me to make her a few Valentine cards for her family and I said, "of course". I wanted to use this new MFT heart stencil and after seeing the MFT color challenge I decided to blend the two together. I used Tim Holtz oxide inks (worn lipstick and wild violet) to create the background. Love the scattered hearts.

Here are the MFT colors...

LOVE is a MFT word die and the stamped sentiment underneath it is from Whimsical Designs (closed and no longer available). The scalloped circle is great as the focal point.

I cut a stitched rectangle with my Cuttlebug for this inside. I left it blank for a personal message.

Hope you have a great week.

Anything Goes at Die Cuttin' Divas

Happy Tuesday!
Yesterday was our school's Science Fair. It was the first one that I help organized and it went well. I tallied all the scores last night and the winners will be announced today during our Sauce and Science Night. We have a science museum (Orlando Science Center) coming to school with 15 different stations for the students to enjoy.

Today I am sharing the new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas.

This Week's Challenge...
Anything Goes ~

Here is my Design Team project...
I just fell in love with this MFT Entwined Hearts die when it was first released and I like it even more now that I have actually used it myself. It cut the glitter paper so smoothly.

I cut the die twice...once in red to get the outline and then in black to piece together the inside of the hearts. So many options with mixing and matching!

I used red glitter paper for the MFT word beautiful since that is how I feel about the layout of these hearts. The stamped sentiment is by Scrappy Moms Stamp (closed).
Hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for our "Anything Goes" challenge. The design team must have had Valentine's Day on their minds too since there are so many lovely projects.

Paper Play Sketches #34

Welcome back to Carson's Creations and thanks for stopping by.  Today I am sharing the new challenge at Paper Play Sketches. Great way to combine a few challenges since you can choose any colors, theme, sentiment, etc.

This Week's Challenge...

Here is my Design Team project...

I cut this cherry heart from SVG Cuts on my Cameo. It is part of 24 Valentines Kit...that could be one for each student with no duplicates. Be sure to check out all of the choices.

The stamped sentiment is by Whimsical Designs.

The heart and the cherries were popped up on foam squares to add some dimension.
Now, I hope you will  join us this week for the Paper Play Sketches challenge. Be sure to visit the other Design Team members to see how they interpreted the sketch.

Do You Love Trying New Products?

Happy Friday!
Although it is Friday the 13th and a full moon, today is going to be fabulous. It's a three day weekend, hubby said he wants to watch football Saturday and Sunday (which means crafting time), and we are going to Jacksonville on Monday to see my daughter.  Like I said, it's going to be a terrific day.

The other day I pulled out my new Ken Oliver Color Burst powders. I found a few You Tube videos to watch about the product. The first one by Ken's Kreations had six different techniques. The second one was by Sparkle N Sprinkle. I chose only one color to begin with because I had Valentine's Day on my mind...Alizarin Crimson.

First, I used MFT dies from Blueprints 20 to cut the background mats. I used watercolor paper and spritzed it with water using a Tim Holtz mister. I sprinkled a few drops of Color Burst powder and spread it around with an acrylic block. Warning: this can be messy and can discolor your fingers.

These are my new MFT Pierced Hearts. I got them last week during a Blitz Wednesday sale. Love to save so I can get more! I cut white foam instead of card stock to add dimension. Then I used clear  glitter Wink of Stella to add some sparkle to each heart. The word love came from a crafty friend, Karen at Little Scrap Pieces ...Thank you Karen!

A big black bow to finish it off.
Hope you are not too superstitious and can enjoy your Friday!

This Jar is Filled with Love

Hello Crafty Friends,
Welcome back to Carson's Creations and thanks for stopping by!  It's Wednesday, which means it's time for the DoubleClick Skittles Challenge.

This Week's Challenge...
Valentine/Heart

Here is my Design Team project...
I bought this jar stamp at Michaels a few weeks ago and I just finally used it. I really like it, but I wish it had a die to match (would be so much easier). I had to fussy cut it, but I think the edges look okay. The scalloped background is from My Favorite Things ~ Blueprint 20.

I used sparkle red skittles in the lower left corner. The hearts were cut from a Martha Stewart punch.

Although this picture is a little brighter than I would have liked, it captures the specks of glitter on the lid. I used a Wink of Stella brush (silver) to add some sparkle.
Now, I hope you will  join us this week for the "Valentine/Heart" challenge at DoubleClick Skittles. Go share some love with the other Design Team members!

Thanks again for stopping by!

Feeling the Love

Happy Valentine's Day!

Love is in the air and cupid is shooting his arrows in every direction. Hoping you enjoy this day and spend some time with someone you love.

Here are a few cards I made Thursday night...I had to take really quick pictures to get them out (so the lighting may not be the best since I didn't use my light box).

For this first card I used the Spellbinders Heart Square die. I have had it for a while, but never used it. I added fabric hearts (they are a bit puffy too) along with a sentiment by Whimsical Designs stamp (With Love set ~ unfortunately it is no longer available).

This second card features a lock and key by Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons. I created the sentiment using Word and the crinkle ribbon is by 3 Girl JAM. Small back pearls were added in the upper right corner.

The last card has an embossed  background, which was created with a heart folder. Then the Spellbinders ~ Floral Oval was centered. I added a computer created sentiment and white pearls. More fabric hearts were adhered around the focal point.
 Other Materials:
white, black, pink, red, and cream card stock
My Mind's Eye pattern paper

Hope you have a lovely day!

Valentine's Photo Inspiration at Die Cuttin' Divas

Hello Crafty Friends,

Welcome back and thanks for stopping by. Hoping I can inspire you to be creative! Today I am sharing the new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas

The Challenge...
Valentine Photo Inspiration

Here is my Design Team project...
A guilty free box of chocolates for Valentines.

First, the edges of the card stock was distressed with the Zutter DIA. I used my bow maker for this triple bow and hot glued the heart brad in the center. The banner was stamped and then tucked under the bow.

I used the Valentine Chocolates file from Miss Kate Cuttables. YUM! It was super easy to cut the pieces (I used my Cameo) and then they layered together nicely.
Other Materials:
red, cream, tan, and brown card stock
My Mind's Eye pattern paper
brown sheer ribbon
Studio G brown ink
red heart brad
Skittles by Carri
K Andrews stamp
Ranger Archival ink ~ potting soil

Hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for our "Valentine Photo Inspirationchallenge. The other design team members have interpreted this photo, and all the projects are so different. Be sure to check them out.

Hope you will join the challenge this week!

I "Moose" Love You and Other Valentines

Hello Crafty Friends (and Fellow Moose Lovers),

Many of you may remember that I love moose and have been collecting them for a few years. My bedroom has more moose items than I really need and my class even has a small collection. When I saw this cut I could not resist!
I purchased him from the Silhouette On-line Store. I add Glossy Accents and pink glitter glue to the hearts. The stamp is from Whimsical Designs and the jute ribbon is by 3 Girl JAM.

Here is another one with him. I personalized it with the grandchildren's names on each heart for a co-worker.

Since I missed posting a few Valentines before the holiday with having such a busy week, here they are...
Designs on Cloud 9 freebie
PPbN freebie
Doodlecharms Cricut cartridge
Treasure Box Designs freebie
Designs on Cloud 9 freebie

I had a busy week partially because of school/meetings, but I am also taking a photography class. I have only been twice and the first night was introductions. The second night we talked about White Balance and F-StopsI sure do understand how my students feel when I am explaining a lesson and they are clueless!  I felt like that when he was talking about aperture and ISOHoping to learn more in the next few weeks (since I have LOTS to learn) and I am optimistic that that my picture quality will improve! If not, I may need private lessons!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, especially if you have President's Day off. I am off, so I plan on crafting, shopping, getting school work completed, and explore with the Nikon camera.

A Valentine Treat for You

Happy Valentine's Day!

The other day I made some owl treat bags for a co-worker (to be posted this weekend in honor of the birthday girl) and my daughter thought they were adorable. She decided she wanted some for her friends for her Valentines; therefore, Wednesday evening we made a few for her friends and teachers. How many do you think a few might mean for a 15 year old? Me...I thought 5 or 6 or maybe even 7 or 8. NO! She said she had 19 friends and then 6 teachers. How could I refuse an opportunity to make a crafty treat for her!

We found this cute elephant (Holiday Cakes Cricut cartridge) that was only 2 layers, which made it quick and easy to assemble.
I used Elegant Edges (book feature) for the topper and a sweet stamp.
The teacher bags were quicker since I used a rectangle base, but the heart was still two layers.

She started to give them to her friends and teachers today since she is on a block schedule, so I hope the rest enjoy theirs tomorrow.

We are having a class Valentine party in the afternoon, so that should be a fun way to begin the weekend. It is a 3 day  weekend since we are off Monday for President's Day. Yippee!

I Love Hot Air Balloons

Hello Crafty Friends,
Thanks for stopping by. Went shopping this morning as planned, but didn't get too much (a new Cricut cartridge, some beads, and stick pins). I actually do not need anything and should use what I have, but I did see new paper and embellishments on display. Chalk Studio by MME looks fabulous!

This hot air balloon was a freebie at Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons. Lisa sure has wonderful files and they are SUPER easy to use.

Although I have never been in a hot air balloon before, I love the idea of peacefully floating through the clouds looking down at the land. Not quite sure if I would enjoy the ride since I don't care for heights when I am not strapped into a seat. Just the thought seems lovely!
Inside of card coordinates with outside.
Pink swirling gems, white faux stitching, inking around the edges, and a loving sentiment finish off the front of the shape card.

Other Materials:
pink, brown, and white cardstock
pink swirling gems
K. Andrews stamp
pink ink
white gel pen
Creative Cards Cricut cartridge ~ base cut at 4 1/2"

Challenges:

Hope you find some crafting time!
My goal...finish a few projects on my table. I completed one this afternoon and have about three more I'd like to get done tonight.

Be Mine at Exploring Cricut

Hello Crafty Friends,

This week is Valentine's Day, which means my students are allowed to have a party at school (There are only 3 approved days ~ Christmas, Valentines, and last day of school.). I am planning a cookie party where the students will get to decorate sugar and chocolate cookies with frosting, sprinkles, and Red Hots. They will also get to exchange Valentines and ooh and aah at the ones they receive. I made the Panda treat bags. Should be fun!

Today there is a new challenge at Exploring Cricut.
Theme: Be My Valentine
I altered one part of this flourish...I changed the flower (was at the top) to a heart. Then I added the heart sentiment to the center of the blooming flower on the far left.
Materials:
red cardstock
Bo Bunny pattern paper
Sweethearts Cricut cartridge ~ flourish (p. 76)
white pearls
K. Andrews stamp
black ink
red heart ribbon

Other Challenges:

Can't wait to see what you make. Be sure to stop by Exploring Cricut to see the other design team projects.
