Church Picture

Rarely do I see something on Instagram and think, "Oh, I have to have that!" There are lots of, "Ooooh, that's pretty!" or "If I found that at a yard sale, wouldn't that be awesome?" Now, let's clear up the "have" part...I don't have to "have" anything, but the church theme (being a pastor's home, here), the colors matching my dresser, and the fact that it came from Kirklands so it would be closer to my budget than some fancy online company had me reeeeeealllly wanting this picture. *Yes, I'm fully aware that previous sentence would flunk me out of English grammar class.

We were in town with a Kirklands and so I ran in to see if they had them. There was one on the shelf and I picked it up, but there was no price tag. I sat it back down and wandered around the store. Finally, I decided to just ask the cashier and if it was too much, I'd just turn it down. After more than one person looking it up in their data base and finally finding it in their books behind the counter, they found the price and it was even on sale! Saweet!

For now, I have it above my dresser. It's a different shape than most pics, so it was a little more challenging to style. And, if you've been around here for awhile, you know it'll move eventually. ;)

New Lights

Thanks to the Hobby Lobby clearance, we now have new lights up in our living room and dining room. The fans were not my favorite and since we hardly ever used them, we traded them out.

Having already walked down the clearance aisle, and finding nothing I could get through life without, I headed towards the front. I had no intention of even going down the lighting aisle, but I spotted a yellow clearance tag hanging off the light. I loved the light, so naturally I walked over to check it out. I figured it would probably still be one of those deals that would be left behind. They were originally $80 something and they were marked down to $20 something. What made the deal even sweeter was the gift card I had just received for Christmas. After recently pricing similar lights at Lowes, I found out this was a better deal than I originally thought.

Hubby had to do some electrical faniggleriggin'. They were originally the kind that had a cord to turn the light on, but I clearly did not want a big black cord going across my ceiling and down the wall to plug in to an electrical outlet. Hubs saved the day...again. ;)

They make the rooms feel more open because the fan spread out much further in diameter.

The Table Transfer

I shared on Instagram, a few months back, that I had moved our table into the "piano room" once we put down laminate flooring. I can not remember if I posted here, so just in case I did not, I moved our table into the "piano room." You're welcome. ;)

I liked the switch, but it took up the space we were used to having as a walk-thru. Brittany mentioned moving the table off to the side, but I couldn't try it until after the Christmas chaos was put back into place.

I'm kinda really liking it!

Of course, that meant I had to move some wall décor.

You probably remember my giant chalkboard that used to be in the kitchen.

Now I have to find something for that wall. It's a vicious cycle in this house, I'm tellin' ya!

We bought this table at a yard sale right after we were married. Hubs gave a it a fresh sanding and coat of stain last fall. Looks much better than my "wing-it" job. I'm pretty sure we've gotten our 10 bucks worth.

The toolbox was found in my hubby's grandparents' barn. Those trusty Ikea plants made great filler. BTW...they are $2 cheaper than last year...just a free plug. HA!

If you're paying attention, you'll see a sneak peak of something else we switched up.

Sending spring thoughts,

Chippy is my love language.

Happy Saturday, friends!
I saw this perfectly chippy and gorgeous old door out by the road in our neighborhood, so naturally, I begged my hubby to run over there and grab it for me.
Isn't she a beauty???
But wait.  It gets better.
Oh yes, it does.
When he went over to get it, the old man came out and said he had 11 old doors if he wanted them, too. Yes, ELEVEN. Say what?! Um, yeah, we want them! There's even a lovely chippy aqua blue one in the pile. That made my heart sing for reals.

I'm already excited about decorating this corner up for Christmas!

I'll leave you with a piccy of my sweet Ollie boy, because he's just so stinkin' cute. Even if he stole my favorite chair and claims it as his own...

Girl's Room Redo

My little girly is not quite so little anymore. Many of her things had seen better days, so we decided it was time to upgrade her room. After giving her a firm no to an "Elsa" theme, she was pretty excited about doing the colors coral and mint green.

My first step in bedroom decorating is to find the bedding. We hunted high and low and never could find what we were looking for. I finally decided to just go with a white quilt (IKEA) and make her an accent throw in those colors (Hobby Lobby material). This room redo took waaaaaaaaaay longer than it should have because of that very last sentence. If it involves sewing, I'm the last person to jump in and get it done. HA!

I have wanted to attempt stripes for a long time, but could never decide where. I love them in here!

I knew I wanted to involve some fellow makers in this room redo. The polka dots are wall stickers from my friend Just the Frosting. They are super easy to use and peel easily off of your wall. She has oodles of designs, including quotes and customs.

I made the sign as the same as others from my Down Grace Lane. A friend had posted this quote on Facebook and I loved it. I want her soul to be beautiful with Jesus and we've already read this and talked about it some. I want it to be a reminder to her, as well as me.

I spray painted her old bookshelf to match.

The adorable little giraffe reminds me of my niece. My friend Theresa's Crochet Shop made it and has so many adorable others. Oh my! They are just all so stinkin' cute!

Isn't he just so keeeeeuuuute?!

For fun, kicks, and giggles, I even painted her closet door. It gives that side of the wall a nice pop of color without having to add much décor.

There are several of my maker friends on this wall. The cute wooden heart cutout is from Aces of Oregon. It matches perfectly. I got the frame around it at a yard sale and spray painted it to match. I love how it pulls out the heart.

The cute little bike art is from Details2Enjoy. I did a separate post on how it was put together. Another unique shop with lots of fun things!

I won the mason jar art in an IG giveaway from Kate's Crafty Heart. Super cute! She customized it with her name. Of course my daughter thought that was very cool since nothing has her name on it.

The "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made" is handpainted by Handcrafted Brunette. She is amazing and has so much cuteness in her shop.

All of these makers are on Instagram and I would encourage you to check them out.

The gumball machine was spray painted to match, but her little brother has rubbed some off of the top from trying to sneak in and help himself.

I'm kicking myself because I passed up a chandelier at a yard sale. That would have been so cool to spray paint and hang in here. I'm keeping my eye out. Maybe something better will come along.

On a humorous note: This quilt is massive and tucked in strategically to get it to lay right. We had revival coming, so I told her to sleep with her little brother in the next room. This way the bed stayed made. LOL! However, she has slept in there since.

So, we still have a pretty made bed.

Thank you to my maker friends for collaborating with me with your products.

Floor Find

Look what we found underneath the carpet upstairs. It needs some work, but I think it's doable.

The pillow is from So Vintage Chic and has our wedding date and the kiddos birth dates. Underneath is the quote, "the best days of our lives." The B&W pillow is from Ikea. The chair, table, plant box, and lamp are from yardsales/thrift store. The sign is from Down Grace Lane.

Office Revamp

I switched a few things around to put my office area back together again. I had everything on hand, just shopped the house.

 Thrifted Items:
Chalkboard
Paper Holder
Box
Filing Cabinet
Letter Press Tray
Desk

The "J" is from Down Grace Lane. Link in sidebar.

This area is at the top of our stairs. It usually serves as a "catch-all," instead of an actual desk. It feels good to get it organized. Again.

Cheap Mirror Knockoff

I love the huge mirrors seen floating around Pinterest and Instagram that have a rounded top and framed sections.

I have yet to find one in my budget. So, when I saw these at Family Dollar for $12 I figured I could reach a compromise.
I knew there had to be a way to spray paint them even if it meant taping off the mirrors. The back came off, but there were about 39 screws in each one. No joke. Each section was an individual mirror. Oy! The fun part was putting them back together.

All that aside, I sprayed and then took a sander and gave it a pretty distressed look.

No matter how I took the pics, something in them looked crooked. I'm going to blame it on a older home and say the flooring is off. LOL. It's also in a small hallway area and I had to stand in the bathroom to get them.

As you can see, I moved my cabinet from the school room to here. Love it!
