Pretty Pink Posh/Card Maker Magazine Blog Hop

Hi, Friends.  Today I have a give-away to share with you.  Pretty Pink Posh is partnering with CardMaker Magazine in a blog hop and offering you a package of goodies.  Details of the giveaway are on the Pretty Pink Posh Blog.

Included in this giveaway package are the following items:

Stitched Borders 1 die cuts
Stitched Banner Duo 2 die cuts
6mm Sparkling Clear sequins
6mm Marigold sequins
6mm Espresso sequins
6mm Mossy Green sequins
6mm Pink Peonies sequins
Silver Confetti
Silver Star Confetti

Hopefully, you have come to my blog from Anita's blog.  If not, you may want to start at the beginning at the CardMaker Magazine Blog.

I've been playing with some wonderful toys from Pretty Pink Posh.  They make such pretty sequins, which seem to be the "trendy" embellishment of choice at the moment, as well as some unique dies.  I've used a bit of both on my cards today.  BTW, all of the images on my cards come from one stamp set, Lots of Words from MFP Stamp Shop.

My first card uses the pocket border die and some Sparkling Clear sequins.

With that pocket border die you don't have to add a tab to the card inserted into the pocket.  How clever is that!!!  Don't you love that stitched border across the top?

My second card is a relatively clean-and-simple get well card with some Watermelon sequins.

My third card is a shaker card.  The stitched banner die set includes both the banner and the square. You can cut them apart so that you can use them separately.   Or . . . if you don't want to have to do any measuring and plan always to use both of them, you can just leave them connected.   I used them both to make a shaker card, putting some 6mm Silver Confetti inside the shaker box.

The last stop of the hop is Pretty Pink Posh Blog.  Thanks for stopping by my blog today.

Speedy Fox & Friends - Pocket Card

Today the Speedy Fox and Friends challenge was to make a pocket card.  In looking for tutorials I found several different types of pocket cards.  I settled on this double pocket card.  I used one of the new MFP sets from the May release for my card.  My BFF and I go to the movies almost every week.  I thought I would give this to her on her next birthday -- with some movie tickets in that second pocket.

Pop on over the Mark's Finest Papers blog and see the pocket cards that the rest of the team has created.  If you decide to play along, link your card and you could win a free set of stamps.

The special stamp set we have for you this month is:

"Zoo Friends"

The mini stamp set we have for you this month is

"You May Bow"

I pulled out that Just Cards 3D magazine that I used last month to make my cards today.  The first one is another full-step card, but with a bit of a twist.   The card base is 11 3/8" x 5", scored at 1 1/4", 2 1/2", 4 1/4", 6", and 8 5/8".  As a regular piece of cardstock is 8 1/2" x 11, I actually cut another piece 2 1/4" x 5" to reinforce the last section -- bringing the total length to 11 3/8".  The squares are cut as follows:  3 1/4", 2 3/4", and 2 1/4".

I wrapped the ribbon around the bottom to hold it closed.  When you remove the ribbon, this is how it looks.

The extra set this month is called Zoo Friends.  My card is 5" x 6 1/2", with two pockets of DP into which I inserted the tags.

Be sure to check out the rest of the DT members' blogs to see their creativity with today's set.  Remember, you have a chance to win a free set if you comment.   Patty,  Lois (that's me), Vicky,  Jane,  Debbie,  Pam,  Pat,  Thrifty Stamper,  MariLynn,  Karen,  Bonnie,  Kathy,  Angela,  Cathy,  Toni,  Sue,  Janine,  An'jenic,

My tag card today is a double diagonal pocket card -- with two tags.  My late husband was an avid fisherman, although he liked salt water fishing rather than fly fishing.  But I'm sure he would have approved of  today's set.   When I think of fly fishing, I usually think of a cold mountain stream; so I went onto the internet to find a photo that would work for the front of my card.  After I printed it, I cut it down to fit.  I also checked out the internet to see how to color this wide-mouth bass.

Today on Speedy TV, Pat Garvin has a tutorial on the faux brick technique.  When I first saw the name of her tutorial (prior to her posting the actual directions), I erroneously thought it was going to be the same as a tutorial I had seen some time ago -- and I made this card, using the peaceful mountain scene from today's set.  Though quite time-consuming, this faux brick wall makes an interesting look.

After I read the tutorial, I saw that it was not the same one I had seen previously.  So I've got an extra card today -- made with Poinsettia Blooms (Wednesday's set).  Be sure to check out Pat's tutorial on Speedy TV.  The inks I used for my bricks were Tim Holtz Antique Linen and Weathered Wood.

I hope you have gotten more than a few ideas this week from our talented design team.  We thank you for stopping by when you had the chance -- and be sure to comment on as many blogs as you can for more chances to win a free stamp set.

Stampin'B's Challenge #29 - Diagonal Double Pocket

Nicole (ButterflyEars) was the hostess for this week's Stampin'B's DT Blog challenge. She had us make a diagonal double pocket card. I haven’t done one of these for a long time. Nicole’s challenge cured that! The tutorial in SCS’s Resource section was helpful in reminding me how to do it – much folding!

The gorgeous paper is from Basic Grey’s Wassail collection. I stamped the little nutcracker from Art Impressions’ Christmas Toy Shoppe with Palette Noir Black and colored him with Copic and Prismacolor markers. After cutting out the oval with a Nestabilities die, I sponged with More Mustard before removing the die; then matted with the Basic Grey DP, More Mustard, and white. The little sentiment on the front is part of a stamp from Lizzie Anne Designs called Many Merries. The stamp is a list of how you say Merry Christmas in seven different languages. I used a marker, colored just the right one, and then stamped and punched it out – matting it in More Mustard. The larger tag is stamped with an image from Flourishes’ All Wrapped Up, and the smaller one is from Lizzie Anne Designs’ Holiday Script.

I forgot how much fun this type of card was. Thanks, Nicole, for suggesting it.
