Stampin'B's Challenge #25 - Watercoloring

Faith (Markie's Mom) was the challenge hostess on the Stampin'B's Design Team challenge blog this week. She had me scrambling with another watercolor challenge. Actually, this is the second card I made for her challenge. I forgot to take a photo of the first one before I gave it to my sister for her birthday.

Take two: – the image is a beautiful sunflower from Rubber Stampede, which I colored using watercolor crayons and an aquabrush. I still have a problem with the washed background. I’m going to have to work on that process! The Heidi Grace DP was just the right color to go with the Really Rust mat. The sentiment, from PTI’s Birthday Basics, is cut with one of the smaller dies in Spellbinders Labels Four set.

I guess I should thank you, Faith, for making me work at a technique with which I struggle. Practice, practice, practice!!!

Big Shot and Halloween

I was visiting my sister this weekend, and we decided to play a little bit with my new Big Shot accessories. She also has a Big Shot, so I didn’t have to cart that along with me on my drive to Southwest Florida.

The cards were cut out with the Sizzix Movers and Shapers die, one with a three-hole insert and the other with a one-hole insert. I “borrowed” the idea for the witch card from my friend, Rosemary. After sponging a big circle lightly with More Mustard ink on the upper right-hand corner of a 4-inch by 4-inch piece of white cs, I punched a circle template with a 1 ¾ inch circle punch. I then sponged inside the circle more firmly – forming the moon. I sponged the rest of the square with Not Quite Navy. The fancy witch is from an Inkadinkadoo Halloween set I bought last year. She is stamped with Versafine Black Onyx, as is the sentiment. The three spiders, from PTI’s Spooky Sweets set were stamped through the small holes onto the inside white piece.

The scarecrow on the other card is from a brand-new Debbie Mumm autumn set, as is the pumpkin on the inside. Both are stamped with Palette Noir Black and then colored with Prismacolor and Copic markers. The DP behind the scarecrow is from a Debbie Mumm DP pad called Harvest and Holiday.

The two candy containers were made from the Sizzix Matchbook XL die from Stampin’ Up. After punching out the centers with SU's curly label punch, I glued some acetate over the openings and put the circle sentiments, both from PTI’s Spooky Sweets set, to one side of the hole so you can see the candy inside.

Stampin' Out Alzheimers

I've been participating in the Stampin' Out Alzheimers challenges this week. My mom has been diagnosed with possible Alzheimers, so I had another reason (besides loving to stamp) to participate. Here are a couple of the cards I've made.

The challenge for this card was to use buttons. This PaperTreyInk set is called Guidelines and has many different patterns you can stamp within the gridlines to create a quilt-like pattern. I thought the sentiment from My Sentiments Exactly was a perfect match.

This card was made for Paper Makeup Stamps' "Any Winged Thing" challenge. I don't have any PMS stamps, so I had to "wing" it with one of the fairies in the Beautiful Fairies set from Inkadinkadoo. I had used another fairy from this set in SCS's Featured Stamper challenge a couple weeks ago. The card base and mat pieces are Sage Shadow, which I think is a very pretty shade of green. I found the sentiment stamp at StampFest last year. It's from Custer's Last Stamp.

Stampin' B's Follow the List Challenge

This week it was Joanne’s (jojot) turn on the Stampin’ B’s Challenge Blog. Her challenge was a list of items we had to use:

border punch
circle
leaf/leaves/branch of some sort
at least two brads

I made two cards for Joanne’s challenge.

My first card uses a Martha Stewart border punch down the side. I cut out the bird from Flourishes’ Home Tweet Home set, popped him up on the branch, and set him in a Nestabilities circle. The four white brads stand out nicely against the Basic Grey Boxer DP.

My second card has lots of sponging – on the Sizzix die cuts of leaves and flowers, and also on the blue background panel. I am enjoying this new Fiskars corner and border punch, which goes all the way around the outside of my card. The sentiment, which is from PaperTreyInk’s Birthday Basics is in the popped-up circles. And I got the required brads in, too.
