Karen Burniston New Release - Day 4

I love Sneak Peek Week!  The Design Team has been playing with the new dies for several weeks, and we can now show them off.

My card today is a wedding card, using the Raising Platform Pop-up.

This pop-up can be used in either a standard or slimline card.  My card is a slimline.  The front is relatively simple -- just a couple of hearts and the Happily Ever After die.  The "once upon a time" and "and they lived" stamps are ones that I bought maybe 15 years ago.  It's always nice to be able to pull out something that doesn't get used for a while.

As you open the card, the platform panel pops up and out.

I actually used two of the pop-up panels on this card -- a slimline gives you that option.  The die set includes those little "squiggles" and stars attached to the lower panel.

This die set is very generic.  You could use it for many different occasions.  I've had two weddings in my family over the past month, so weddings have been on my mind.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.  I hope you come back tomorrow for another sneak peek.  Little hint --  tomorrow's sneak peek actually coordinates with today's card.

CCEE2207 - National Wedding Month

Liz winds up her month-long stint as hostess for the CCEE Stampers by telling us that February is also National Wedding Month.  She asked us to make a wedding card to send to a couple who might be tying the knot during this month of love.

I don't know anyone getting married any time soon, but at least now I've got a card -- just in case!  This card is a mix of something old and something new, nothing borrowed but something blue.  The stamps are old, as is the Karen Burniston Katherine Label die inside.  The "new" is the Karen Burniston Crosshatch - Heart die on the front.  And the blue is quite apparent!

Be sure to check out the CCEE Stampers blog for some more wedding inspiration.

CCEE2012 - Wedding/Anniversary/Celebration

Maryann continues as hostess for the CCEE Stampers this week.  Our challenge for today is to create a Wedding, Anniversary or Celebration card in white and black plus one other color.

I chose a wedding card and made it a round easel.  My "one other color" is the flesh color of the bride and groom.  I don't have any weddings coming up on my calendar, but I'll be ready when I need one!

Check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see what kind of cards my fellow team members chose to make.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - DOUBLE

It's time for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge once again.  And this month's theme is such fun - make a card using a doubling theme.   This could be a double Pivot Panel, a double Katherine, a double Surprise Ball, or any fun combination of two different pop-up dies.  As I am thoroughly hooked on the Surprise Ball Pop-Up and thought Karen's billboard card for last month's challenge was so creative, I wanted to try a double Surprise Ball Pop-Up Billboard.  I was trying to think of a theme when "Love and Marriage" popped into my head -- so a wedding card was my choice.

Because of the two billboards, I had to make a much larger card -- this one is 5 1/2" x 11".  The front is very clean and simple -- leaving the drama for the inside.  The silvery paper on the front is from a 12" x 12" pad of silver foil cardstock I found at Michaels.  I used one of the dies from the Tropical Landscape set for my scallops.

I used two pair of 1/4" magnets to hold down the flap at the bottom.

I had some wedding paper left from a project I did many years ago and used it for the background of the inside of my card. (That shows that hoarding paper sometimes is a good idea.  My son and his wife have been married for 11 years!)  Karen's Valentine card last month had hearts going around the edge of her billboard, and I "borrowed" that idea for my wedding card, substituting glittery silver paper for some of the hearts.  The "Love & Marriage" sentiment was made using the Karen Burniston Alphabet dies.

Going in a totally different direction, I made a second card for the "DOUBLE" challenge.  My grandson loves the Minions, so I thought I'd try to make one.

Karen Burniston Pop-Up dies are so much fun, and doubling them up just makes it that much more fun!  Check out the rest of the DT double-up cards for some more creative ideas.

CCEE1748 - Celebrate Babies or Weddings

For her last CCEE Stampers challenge this month, Joanne asks us to make either a baby card OR a wedding card.  We can choose.  I used the Watercolor Imprints technique for the background of my wedding card.

To make this card, I swiped some Ranger Distress ink (in this case, Worn Lipstick and Squeezed Lemonade) across a piece of watercolor paper.  After spritzing it with water, I laid down a doily stencil over the inked watercolor paper -- weighing down the edges so that it doesn't move.  When the ink dried, When you lift off the stencil, the design will appear on the watercolor paper.  Then it was just a matter of stamping the sentiment with Versafine black ink and adhering the CottageCutz die-cut silhouette.  I was really happy with the way this card turned out because watercoloring is not my forte, and I don't use watercolor techniques often.

Stop over at the CCEE Stampers blog to see some more baby and/or wedding cards.

Wedded Bliss Club

August has always been a month for weddings for me.  My late husband and I were married in August fifty-five years ago.  So I'm bringing you another card made with the newly-released wedding series of dies from CottageCutz.  This time that cute little owl couple, as well as the stitched rectangle scallops..

I cut the many pieces for my little scene from various scraps of colored cardstock.

I added some additional color to some of the pieces to give them a bit of dimension.

Purple is one of my favorite colors, and my card reflects that.  Both the card base and the patterned paper accent are in shades of purple.  The card base is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored in half; the patterned paper is cut slightly smaller.  My scene will appear on a piece of pale blue cardstock glued to the largest stitched scallop rectangle die cut.  In addition I cut a 1" x 4" piece of black cardstock for the road and tore a narrow strip of green for the grass.

I constructed the background for my focal panel, as shown.  I "borrowed" an idea from my fellow DT member, Pam, and drew a broken white line down the center of the road.  I had seen that on a card that she made a few weeks ago.  Thanks, Pam for the idea!

Then came the fun part of putting the bicycle and owls together.

I then stamped the sentiment, punched it out, and finished my card.

I realize purple is not most people's first choice for a wedding card; but, as I mentioned, I love that color!  And I think it goes well with the whimsical bride and groom owls.

Going to the Chapel

I'm still playing with the new dies that CottageCutz has recently released.  You can find them on the CottageCutz website.  They are a series of wedding dies and a series of nested shapes.  I have another wedding card today, which uses dies from both series.

To begin the card, I cut a piece of heavyweight white cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2, a piece of Glittery Pink cardstock 4" x 5 1/4", and a piece of shimmer white cardstock 3 7/8" x 5 1/8".

Then, using several CottageCutz dies, I cut the various die-cut pieces from shimmer white, pink glitter, and black glitter cardstock.

Before constructing my card, I embossed the shimmer white panel with a swirly embossing folder.

I added small foam pop dots to the back of the carriage . . .

. . . and ran the two small black die-cuts through my Xyron X sticker maker.

Then I constructed my card and added a few sequins which matched the color of the carriage.

Wedding Doves

A wedding is such a wonderful occasion for which to make a card.  You can go elegant or you can go fun.  I think my card today is somewhere in between the two.  CottageCutz has recently released two series of dies, both of which contributed to my card today.  There is a wedding set and a series of nested shapes.  I used one die from each set along with some wedding paper that I had in my stash.

To begin I cut a piece of heavyweight white cardstock 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", one piece of patterned paper 4" x 5 1/4" and another piece of patterned paper 3 3/4" x 2 3/4".

Then I cut the die-cuts from pink, green, and shimmer white cardstock.

Using some Copic markers, I added some color to the doves and the small hearts.

I placed some large foam pop dots on the pink die-cut panel.

The wedding paper that I used came in a pad which also included some pop-out die-cut pieces.  I found one that I liked and added the two small pink hearts to it.

I applied some liquid glue to the back of the branch . . .

. . . and some foam pop dots to the backs of the doves.

And then I constructed my card.

A Love Story

There is another great release of new dies over in the online store. The Nested Shapes with 17 designs as well as a Wedding Release with 20 designs. Janet (our video artist) has put together a video showcasing all the new nested shapes dies. Just click on the photo below to be taken to the CottageCutz YouTube channel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LOQcFflcIE&feature=youtu.be

I'm showing off several of the new wedding dies  today.  I saw a fold-out card on Pinterest a couple of weeks ago that I thought I could create -- depicting a little love story.  The card I saw on Pinterest was a birthday card; mine is a wedding card, using the following CottageCutz dies:

Pair of Doves
Wedding Chapel
Garden Bride and Groom
Mr and Mrs with Hearts
Honeymoon Car

There are many panels of cardstock on my card:

White - 5 1/2" x 11 1/2", 2 3/4" x 4 1/4", 3 3/4" x 5", 3" x 4 1/2" (2), 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" (2)
Blue - 4" x 5 1/4", 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" (2), 2 1/2" x 4" (2)
Patterned Paper - 3 5/8" x 2 1/4", 2 7/8" x 1 1/2" (2), 2 1/8" x 1 1/4" (2)

Cut the various die-cut pieces from white, blue, gray, pink, and black cardstock, as shown.

Score the 5 1/2" x 11 1/2" piece of white cardstock at 1/4", 3 3/4", and 7 1/4".

Rotate the cardstock and, with the 1/4" scored side at the top, place it at the 5/8" mark of your paper cutter and cut down to the last score line.  Cut out the 5/8" section, as shown.

Place a strip of 1/8" Scor-tape on one side of the 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" piece of white cardstock and adhere to the 1/4" section.  Trim the excess 1/4" strip at the top, as shown.

Adhere the various pieces of patterned paper to the remaining white panels and run a piece of narrow blue ribbon around the top of the patterned paper, adhering at the back.  Add some color to the die cuts using Copic markers to give some dimension and construct the die-cuts on the white panels. (As I was constructing the chapel, I decided that I needed a couple of yellow pieces for the windows.)  Then adhere the white panels to the blue panels.

Stamp the small sentiments to several of the panels and adhere to the card base.  Add some pearls throughout.
