I was emptying some dead produce from Gleaners into the compost bin when I had to look twice ... an unknown critter was so creative that it decorated this summer squash with a beautiful heart!

Cindy Wears Her Heart ...

I had to laugh when Cindy came to work at the Gleaner delivery site ...
Wearing her heart on her, er, hiney!

Thank you, Cindy, for being such a good sport!
And for letting me photograph your hiney. Er, your heart.

Gleaner Trash

The Gleaner delivery truck was unloaded, the baskets were filled ...
I was bringing my share to my car ...
When I came upon this beautiful heart
In the driveway.

Decorative Tree Heart

I was driving to Canby for Gleaner's site cleanup when I noticed this tree near the Barlow Pioneer Cemetery. I pulled over and took a quick shot. It's not the best, but you can still see the way this tree has drooped down it's branches - to become a heart.

Gleaner Tree Hearts for Howard

There are some beautiful old trees at the new Gleaners site ... and I found these hearts there. Too bad I didn't look further up, then I might have been able to tell you what kind of trees these are! Thank you Howard for helping me see these beautiful hearts.

Bird Nest Heart

Twice a year I am required to work at the Gleaner's Warehouse. This requires hours of back breaking work, hefting around heavy boxes and filling numerous orders of food ... helping to feed the hungry people who are depending on delivery of these "gleaned" items. Well worth the hard work!

I took a break during a lull, and walked around the parking lot, stretching out the kinks in my back ... looking around, as always, for the hearts that define my life right now. I found none.

Then a bird flew overhead ... landing in a nest high atop a tree. There it was! My heart! Right in front of me all the time. Well, right above me all the time!

"What's Taters, Precious?"

A potato I found while unloading a produce delivery at the Canby Gleaners. The other members were a little confused when I suddenly yelped, then grabbed my camera out of my pocket and started snapping pictures .....
