I have been enjoying visiting the hearts you have found in the past few weeks ... I just can't comment for some reason ... My computer keeps going to the dreaded "Not Responding" mode after a short time of being online (it took two restarts to finish this post!).

Arrrgh.

I think it's nearly time for a new computer!

Anyway, I have some incredible hearts for you to visit today ... some you might have visited already - but all worth a second look!

I sincerely enjoyed Hannah's absolutely gorgeous Ageratum heart she posted on her blog, Weeding on the Wild Side. While I was reading through some of her old posts I was struck by two things ... her wonderful photography, and her stunning gardening skills! (This from a girl with a "black thumb" who kills green things without even trying!) ... The second thing I noticed is ... Hannah is also from the Pacific Northwest ... which means we have a lot in common ... well, except for the beauty-in-the-garden part!

I love Sandra's current challenge - "Things I Love". What a wonderful way to lift our spirits and remind us of the TRUE hearts in our worlds!!!

In two days, my FAVORITE ARTIST IN THE WORLD celebrates a birthday.

So today I am going to share a bit of her past art ...

HA HA SISSIE!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR BETH!!!!!

This is an amazing pencil sketch Beth made back in 1972.

If you enlarge it, and really start to look, you will see so much more than just a still life!!!

There is a face hidden here, and a heart, and ... well, what do you see?

When we were growing up, Beth kept a book of her artwork and writing.

As a temperamental teenager, she threw it away.

Because I've always been in awe of her work, I rescued it!

It seems like even back then, she included hearts in her artwork!!!

Beth got her book back this year ... I feel so privileged to have been it's guardian for all these years!

But she will NOT be getting back this little feller ... because this is one she gave to ME back in the 1980's!

(That's a real leaf, by the way!)

Due to a little, uh, drainage issue we've been having, we've had to haul some gravel.

My neighbor, Amber, was helping shovel and dump the heavy stuff.

I was watching a travel show on PBS earlier this week when I heard the host say he was featuring Lisbon.

As I watched the show, I couldn't help but compare his "tourist" Lisbon with the Lisbon I've come to love through the camera of JM. In short ... there was no comparison. The touristy show fell flat. 

JM captures Lisbon and more on his blog, "Lisbon and the Sunny Coast".

And sometimes he captures hearts. Like the ones on this tree ...

A Heart For Alan and Beth

Because my camera was not cooperating with macros, Beth lent me her old one for a time (her sweetie Alan too, since it was now his!). I couldn't wait to start capturing the world close up again!

The first thing I did was go outside.

The wild cherry trees were in full and glorious bloom.

The sun was shining after weeks of wet.

When I got back inside, I found these two little sun reflection hearts on one of the first pictures I took. They didn't appear on any of the other shots!!!

Alan called the other day ...

He and Beth decided that I should keep the little camera.

Somehow I think the camera already knew!!!

This one came in the mail from our power company!

When we were kids, we used to find these doodles all over ...

Whenever mom was on the phone, pen or pencil in hand, she doodled a heart with a "41" inside. When we asked her why, she always quipped "Well, something special is going to happen on my 41st birthday".

Time passed, and the special day arrived.

Turns out that was the day our local Mt. St. Helens exploded in a gigantic eruption in 1980!

The other day, mom was again doodling while talking on the phone.

After she hung up, she realized what she had drawn - something she hadn't done since 1980 ...

I understand the shock on her face ...

After all, how do you top an exploding mountain???
