You Rock!!!!

This week over at the Kenny K's Krafty Girlz the theme is circles, it could be your image in a circle, paper with circles, It's your intrepretation. I must say, I was stumpted, as I wanted to put my image in a circle, so I started clicking around and decided to use this weeks sketch over at Friday Sketchers. It's perfect, so I used not only paper that had circles, but a circle in the layout as well. I also challenged myself with the colors, which is really out of my comfort zone, but I'm trying to put a dent in the huge stash of paper I have before I can buy more. And believe me ladies, I have tons and tons of paper as I'm sure we all have..lol So here goes my take on Kenny K's, Friday Sketchers, Bunny Zoe's and Copic Creations, since it has yellow and orange in it, and those two colors are on the warm side of the wheel, I think it fits.

Close Up:

Mermaids By the Sea

I've been asked to make a few cards for a someone at work one card specifically with this image since it is for her daughter. She just fell in love with the mermaid. So I followed the Sketch at Sketch Saturday, and the color theme at the Copic Creations which this week is to use colors from the "cool" family. I choose blue greens and this is what I came up with. I tried by best to get a better shot but the light and camera were not cooperating...Sorry :(

This fits the following Challenges:

I Love You This Much!!!

Suzanne Dean made this great tutorial on using copics to look like those beautiful Scandanavian Magnolia's that are colored with distress inks. You can find it here I have always loved that look and have always wanted to give it a try, but did not want to invest, or find room for more stuff. So this was right up my alley. It was my first attempt and I must say I am very pleased with the result. It was also the first time I used these gorgeous flowers by
Wild Orchid Crafts

This fits the:
Magnolia Stamp Lovers Challenge: Sentiment
Wild Orchid Crafts: Sentiment
Simon Says: Bingo-3 things in a row: Flower/Ribbon/Die Cut
7 Kids College Fund: Challenge Yourself- My first attempt at using copics to look like distess inks & my first use of WOC Flowers.
Copic Creations: Something New: Flowers, & use of copics to look like distress inks

I used Tilda Wants a Hug, and covered up the Holly Berries in her hair with these pearls so that it would be more appropriate for Valentine's Day. This image reminds me of the days when my kids were young and we used to banter back and forth saying, "I Love This Much"' and of course the kids would try and make their arms wider and say, "No I Love You More, I Love You This Much". I miss those days...

Copic Creations-Sparkle-A Simple Thank You-

I am snowed in!!!! This is a picture from my terrace.. as you can see the beach is covered in snow..The red flag is up meaning no swimming...hum wonder why... a car is stuck on the street below which is a major street that runs is in front of my apartment building and is blocking even the snow plow from getting down to clear the roads. The poor person who's car you only see the roof of will not get his car out till spring. Many cars are up on the median because as "city foke" we know how those snow plows can dig you in even more. The maintenance men haven't even begun to plow the parking lots, and since my car is on the other side of the building I have no idea of how badly it is snowed in. We have so much snow that I don't think I'll be able to dig out for days.

The A train which is an elevated train at this section of Queens (and my transporation into Manhattan), has been stuck on the tracks since 1AM this morning which is not good (third rail all covered up) and yes there are people on it. They are stuck 3 stops from my house. I feel for those people and others that are stuck someplace other than the warmth of there cozy abodes...I hope the tracks are cleared up by tomorrow though since I am Broadway bound to see Wintuck at Madison Square Garden...

So what's a girl to do, but cyber shop and play, and not in the snow...lol.... feels good to be creative again. I made this for my son's girlfriends family to say thank you for the beautiful fruit basket that was presented to me on Christmas day. It is so beautiful, that I don't want to open in up...

This fits the Copic Creation challenge which is sparkle, the paper is sparkly which I'm not quite sure if it shows, and I added Stickles to the flowers and bird.

Stamp: Penny Black-Message from above, Senitment: Printworks
Paper: SU Chocolate chip, DCWV At Home
Extras: Nestibilities, Sizzix Swirl, Flower Punch, MS Branch Punch, Pearls, Stickles, brads

Tilda-Unwrapped

This card took me all day, Guess because I tried combining more than 2 challenges into one card. I have a hard time with 2 so what possessed me to try to combine 4 is a mystery to me..I had to step away from it several times moving this moving that and I'm still not happy with the final result. So, I don't think I'll do that again. But I did get 3 out of the 4 on the card...It's was the lace that stumped me for the Simon Says challenge..So after all that is said and done, here is my take on the challenges

This fits the following challenges:
7 Kids College Fund: image from their store, 2 DP's 3 flowers, Sparkle (on leaves and present)
Copic Creations: Folds or Pleats
Everybody Art Challenge which is the sketch I followed...

Relaxing at the Lake-Copic Creations & Cute Card Thursday

Since I already had this set out, the papers out, and everything else out that I used yesterday, I thought I would put this card together. I thought that the image in the boat was pefect for the Copic Creations Challenge which is Reflections & that it would work perfectly with the Cute Card Thursday Sketch this week. I used my mirror image stamp and first stamped the boat which will be my reflection in the water, and then used my stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the image above the water so that I could line it up with the reflection. I then used my versa marker pen and carefully colored in the image that is above the water, put on Clear Embossing Powder and heat embossed so that when I brayered over it, it would not pick up any of the color. I did not do this for the reflection image since it is in the water, it does not have to be crisp & clean. After I brayerd soft sky, & Baja Breeze over the entire image, I sponged on Not Quite Navy to give it a little depth. This was also inspired by a tutorial given by Michelle Zindorf quite some time ago and glad I remembered it.

Image: SU-Summer by the Sea.
Papers: SU: Blueberry Crisp, Sahara Sand, Not Quite Navy

Ink for Brayer: Soft Sky, Baja Breeze & Not Quite Navy
Copics: E00, B21,E23, E31,E33,C1,C3 I also pulled out a few of my colored pencils to add a little depth.

Copic Creations Challenge - Flowers

I've had this image for ages, and never inked him up til today. What was I waiting for, I have no idea but thought he'd be perfect for this Flower challenge..I also decided to pop up the daffodil since I had the mouse pad and the tole tool out. I remembered this idea from a House Mouse challenge way back in June. (see sometimes I remember things) Anyway, I went back to give credit where credit is due, and it was Heather that used this same image for the Paper Tole challenge. Glad I remembered about it especially since it was months and months ago...lol

WOJ 67--Swirls & Pearls

Whiff of Joys challenge is Swirls & Pearls. I had these swirly perals and thought they would be perfect for the challenge, but they were stark white, so I used my BG72Copic and colored them in.Using the same copic, I also colored in the hearts which were also stark white. I paper pieced the towel & her hair bow to match the background paper. This isn't one of my better pictures, not sure if it was the lighting, but it was hard to get a better shot.

To achieve the scallops around the card, I cut my paper at 5 x 10 scoring at 5, used my MS corner punch I punched each of the eight corners, for the corners at the fold, you need to put in one of the arms, and line up the line on the side of the corner punch with the fold. Then use the matching border punch to get the scallop affect around the card. When you cut the paper at this size and line up the corner at each side of the punch, it is 2 border punches for each side and comes out perfect each time. You can find the video at Splitcoast Stampers under "Punch Around the Page".

Stamp: Whiff of Joy
Paper: Basic Grey, Paper Trey Vanilla,
Extras: Long Rectangle Nesties, MS Matching Corner & Border Punch, Self Adhesive Swirl Perals, MS Branch Punch,& Sparkle Hearts & Dimentionals

Copic Creations Challenge #22-Coloring Embellishments

This was done for the Copic Creation Challenge. This weeks challenge is to color your embellishmentand and make an Easter Card so I colored in the pearls on the front of the card using RV11 so that it would match the pinks perfectly

I found this multi fold card over at the House Mouse challenge which is to make a multi fold card. So I gave it a go. At first I was going to use a House Mouse stamp for this card, but decided this Penny Black was the perfect size for this particular card. So off I go to make a different multi fold card for that challenge. The directions for this card can be found here I used a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock using measurements for a 5 1/2 card for the 2 folds at the bottom, I cut those at 2 3/4 you will understand when you see the template, but the template is in CM's..

And as you all know, I am bow challenged.... I will cut the tails of the bow after I write my personal sentiment in it. This is the view of the card completly colosed

Copic Creataions - Feather Blending

I deleted my first post when I realized I did the feather blending all wrong. I used two colors that were too similar in the spectrum to show any feathering. So I re-did the apron using RVOOO & B00 this time. Not as I had invisioned it, and still not sure if it's right, but I gave it a try.. I will not give up and will try it again because it is beautiful once you get the hang of it. You can check it out
here there are some extremely talented ladies and some gorgeous creations. Maybe the third time will be a charm for me.

Copic Challenge #19 - Fur

I tried the dirty rag technique for this challenge which I found on Marianne Walker's Blog entitled I Love Markers. She gives great tutorials on using Copics. You can try going here or if you go directly to the Copic Creations blog, all the tutorials are listed on the side... I have learned so much from this site.

I used my Heart Nestibilities to cut out the heart in the middle of the card and then placed the same nestie, in the larger scallop nestie to get the scallop that I placed around the cut out (I hope that made sense).

Unfortunately, I couldn't get a nicer picture because it is so dark and grey outside, we are expecting more snow, and bitter cold so what better excuse than to stay in and play.

iCopic #15-Red Hair & Just Magnoia - Monochrome

Wow 2 challenges in one card again. Over at the iCopic site this weeks challenge is Red Hair. Well once again thanks to the wonderful tutorials, I think I got it. And over at the Just Magnolia site, Monochrome is this weeks theme. Since I had this paper out, I decided use blues. Because of the chaos this week, I took baby steps in putting this card together, I colored it on Sunday, cut the papers, Monday morning before I went to work, assembled it on Tuesday, Wednesday I added the ribbon again before I went to work and finally put it together and took a picture so I can get it in for the Magnolia challange. Hopefull things will run smoother next week and it won't take me a week to get one card done...lol

This was done for the Copic Creations Challange, this weeks color is black. This is a bi-monthly challange which can be found on my side bar. I've learned so much from this site it's unbelievable. Suzanne Dean gives some awesome video tutorials, since I am a visual person this is right up my alley and of course each time I watch, I order new copics. So I now have the Grey "C's" on there way. So this was done using the few grey's I have.. can't wait to get the new ones to really give this a try.. So thanks Suzanne for those wonderful tutorials that you make for us novices.
