Easter's on It's Way - Friday Sketchers #147

I so look forward to Fridays, not only because it is the end of the work week, but I love the sketches from the Friday Sketchers team. I find I use them over and over again. So here is my take on this weeks challenge:

Now ladies, I decided to try something new which I can not take credit for. I decided to incorporate the idea of creating a clay figure to match my card for family and friends. I got this idea from the very talented Gloria Dawson who inspired me the second I saw her GORGEOUS creations. Her work can be found here
Now after you see her work, remember, she's a pro at this and this is on of my firsts attempt so of course I see tons of flaws in the picture, so just give me about a hundred years and I'll catch up.

This is my second fimo creation, which is a little better than my first, My first was done for a DT challenge and will be posted in a few weeks

Oh Baby Bundle of Joy

This adorable digi image is from Mo's Digital Pencils This week it is Pat Franks turn to host the challenge and she choose babies. With so many pregnant teachers at work, one can never have enough baby cards. We average at least 5 every year and this year is no exception. I also followed the sketch over at Friday Sketchers, where the new DT member Rach has given us a fabulous sketch to play with. So of course I had to play along.

I also did the lips and cheeks a little different this time, I used E93 Tea Rose for the lips then the cheeks going over the cheeks again with E00, I think it gave it a softer touch than the usual R20

I found the word Baby at believe it or not Targets. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to use it on an easel card. I held it in my hand and didn't want to put it down and dug and dug hoping to find another one, but alas, it was the last one that said Baby. I think I'll hit another Target, would love to find this in pink or blue, heck I'll even take another yellow even though it's not my favorite color to work with.

This also fits the following challenges:

Happy Anniversary Nanny & Papa

For those of you who read that I headed into the city yesterday to see "Rain".. OMG!!! It was FANTASTIC!!!! What a tribute they put on, and do you know what's was even better, it is restaurant week in New York, so we ate at AJ Maxwells... talk about mouth watering steak.. We had from soup to nuts at $35 per person.. It was well worth it. Many restaurants including Bobby Van's and the 21 Club are participating, but after looking at the menu for Maxwell's who could resist.

Well after all that is said and done, I made this card from my inlaws who will be celebrating there 61st wedding Anniversary on Sunday. So I used this digital image from Mo's Digital Pencil. It is from there senior collection and is called Jack & Ginger.

I used an older sketch from Friday Sketchers and papers from my DCWV Linen Closet Pack. I'm determed...lol I thought the grey tones were perfect for this image with a touch of pink to break it up.

I did the inside as well:

You Rock!!!!

This week over at the Kenny K's Krafty Girlz the theme is circles, it could be your image in a circle, paper with circles, It's your intrepretation. I must say, I was stumpted, as I wanted to put my image in a circle, so I started clicking around and decided to use this weeks sketch over at Friday Sketchers. It's perfect, so I used not only paper that had circles, but a circle in the layout as well. I also challenged myself with the colors, which is really out of my comfort zone, but I'm trying to put a dent in the huge stash of paper I have before I can buy more. And believe me ladies, I have tons and tons of paper as I'm sure we all have..lol So here goes my take on Kenny K's, Friday Sketchers, Bunny Zoe's and Copic Creations, since it has yellow and orange in it, and those two colors are on the warm side of the wheel, I think it fits.

Just Magnolia/Friday Sketchers/7 Kids

Well, I am trying to get another card or two done before tomorrow when I go back to work. Once that starts, I don't get to play til my hearts content. I will definately miss it. I had so much fun this week especially peeking into everyones blogs. I decided to get my nephews card done who's birthday is in mid January. He is a chef who works in a restaurant in Soho. So of course this Edwin was perfect for that. Since anything goes in both the 7 Kids College Fund and Just Magnolia, I combined it with the Friday Sketchers Sketch. And speaking of college funds, start saving for all those application fees as well. My son is working on his applications this week. He is applying 14 colleges many of them ivy leagues and each college has it's own application fee. Those range anywhere from $50-$75 oh and don't forget the fees for sending in SAT scores. Geeze Louise, looks like I'll be doing lots and lots of overtime...

It killed me not to add any flowers or swirls, I feel it is so plain, but since it is a masculine card, I just added the brads.

For You-Friday Sketchers #134

As of right now which is 6AM, there is still no train service into the Rockaways, so not sure how I will get into Manhattan to see Wintuk at the Garden. The show is still on and unfortunatley the tickets are non refundable. Hopefully, around noon we will have service back and I have some sort of chance to see the show. It is only running for a few more weeks and then it's gone for good.

Not sure if being snowed in is good or bad... I did some more damage cyber shopping Found a great deal at Joann's for a Big Shot Pro used a coupon for free shipping saving an addition $20 Can't wait for it to arrive to make some Pop-Up cards and some Dress Boxes...Did damage on the sizzix clearance shop yesterday as well... Ok think I better put the laptop away...lol

This is my take on the Friday Sketchers Sketch created by Claudia Rose. I was itching to use these new papers from Stampin Up, and am not quite sure if I'm love'n them. Will try them again maybe it's the greens, but I'm trying to use things outside my comfort zone. I also altered a box from Godiva Chocolate to match the card, will probably give this to my sister and refill the box with kisses or other small chocolate...

Friday Sketchers & Magnolia Stamp Lovers-Purple & Black

I am posting two cards today, both for Halloween, needed to finish my halloween cards so that I can mail them out on Monday or Tuesday the latest. I think I have two more to do. The funny thing is that I had a list on a pad in my kitchen of those I am sending them out to, figured I check the names off as I finish the card so I look at the list and the last entry I see that my son wrote "New Park". I must say it gave me a chuckle because "New Park" is the pizzeria that we works in, I guess he wants me to make one for his boss at work.

Anyway, card number one was done for both Friday Sketchers and Magnolia Stamp Lovers. This weeks sketch over at Friday Sketchers is by Jacque absolutely loved it and for the Magnolia Stamp Lovers challenge the theme this week is to use Purple and Black. Well, I've been itching to use this paper, and it was perfect for this challenge. So here is my take on both challenges.

MONEY!!!!! 7 Kids meets Friday Sketchers

This Money Holder is so quick and easy to make and can be used for any occassion. I did this for the 7 Kids College Fund Challenge where we are to use 2 pieces of designer paper and of course something from the store and since you can purchase this adorable Critter Party set from Penny Black at the store, this fits. I also followed the sketch over at Friday Sketchers.

The measurements for this are 7 1/2" x 7 1/8" scoring at 2 3/4" & 5 3/4"..I think I scored on the 7 1/8" side..

The band is 1" x 7" scoring at 1 3/4" x 4 3/4".. For the circles I used my nesties
Here it is closed:

Here it is open: I used my Stampin Up 1 1/4" circle punch for the little slot that holds the money.

Friday Sketchers 110 Meets Magnolia Down Under #54

It has been ages that I have been able to sit down and do any kind of crafting. My absense was due to my husbands MS which has finally taken a toll on his body, his legs don't work like they used to so things have been quite hard around here. He is basically in a wheelchair now, so it takes it's toll on everyone in the family. In spite of all this, his spirits are high, and he has a great outlook on everything.

So after all that is said and done, I made this for my sons 20th birthday which is tomorrow. It is for both the Magnolia Down Under Challenge and the Friday Sketchers Challenge. Nothing like waiting til the last minute, but it did get me into crafting again, and I hope it sparks an interest again. Then again, my son never would have forgiven me if I purchased a store bought card..lol

Here goes...

Friday Sketchers #91 - A New Friends Thank You

We had to follow a sketch today over at Friday Sketchers... so I decided to use my new images that I received from Suzana over at Susana's Custom Art & Card Design (SCACD) these gorgeous Elizabeth Bell images are exclusive at her site which you can find here I was the lucky winner of her blog candy last week, and won all 3 editions. I'll be relaxing til Spring playing with these, that's if it stops snowing... Another day off for the NYC Dept of Education.. Wow twice in the last 2 weeks. Woo Hoo!!!!! I will be sending her this card as a thank you for her generosity...

I masked the image and used the Lovely As A Tree set from Stampin Up for trees in the background. I also used the new bird punch from Stampin Up to try and incorporate the bird she is holding in her hand.

Friday Sketchers #90

Here's My Friday Sketchers Card..Didn't think I'd be able to squeeze another card in, but since it was half way done, I decided to finish it off today, and get it in before the deadline.

I used my Cricut once again for the frame behind the image. Since the frame was not as long as the image, I cut it in half and framed it behind the image.

Friday Sketchers #62

This was done for the Friday Sketchers. I must say that this card fell together so easily since the image was already colored in. I received this and a few other images as a gift for some awesome blog candy that I won awhile back. As soon as I received these adorable image, I immediately colored them in. It was just a matter of time before I put it to paper, so once I saw this sketch I knew it was time to dig him out and put him to good use.

Friday Sketch #48

Well, I kinda got my sketches mixed up this morning, guess I needed that second cup of coffee before I attempted to do 2 challenges at a time. This image was originally colored in for the new Magnolia challenge, well that was until I cut her out in the oval. It was then that I realized that it was the Friday Sketch that required the oval, and not the Magnolia one... So this is my take on the Friday Sketch challenge... Happy with how it turned out..
This is a close up of the flowers on the bottom. It is the first time I used my MS butterfly punch, and I love it... Thanks Tammi

Thanks for looking..Debbie

Friday Sketch #47 - Relaxing At the Lake

This is a retired set from Stampin Up... one of my favorite from the Seaside Series..this is one set I was sorry to see go to the retirement home. Once I decided to use this image, I took out my trusty ole brayer. I stamped the image in Versa Mark then Staz On and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I then colored in with my copics, used my Versa Marker Pen and carefully stayed within the lines of the image. Again put on clear embossing powder and heat embossed. I then brayered Baja Breeze over the entire image, used a post it note to create a horizon and sponged Not Quite Navy. Stamped in the tree and grass. After I put the entire card together, my husband looked at the sketch and said "What does text mean?"... It was at that point I realized that I forgot to stamp a sentiment... So I took a deep breath and stamped in "just a note" because it was small enough to fit in that space...

Stamp: Stampin Up-Summer by the Sea, Grass in front from Majenta, Just a Note from A-Muse, What is left of the tree after I cut the oval is from Stampscapes

Paper: Stampin Up: Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Grey, So Saffron, Delicate Dots

Ink: Versa Mark, Staz On, Chocolate Chip, Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Old Olive

Copics: No-Neutral Grey #0, N2-Neutral Grey #2, N3-Neutral Grey #3, Boo-Frost Blue, B21-Baby Blue, B32-Pale Blue, B97-Night Blue, E00 Skin White, E31-Milky White, E33-Sand, Y21-Buttercup, Y02-Canary Yellow, B60-Pale Blue Grey, R000-Cherry White

Extras: Self Adhesive Rhinestones, Swirls Scribbles Die Cut, So Saffron Ribbon, Prisma Flowers

Thanks for looking and hope you like my take on the sketch
