Happy Anniversary Sweetheart

This is my second post of the day, so please scroll down and see my DT post for Creative Inspirations below.

It has been raining on and off all week here in New York, It has been dark, dreary, and the air is just plain old heavy. The fog rolls in from time to time and I must admit, it is fun to watch it roll in like that, but not fun to drive in it. It has been so bad, that I honestly can not even see the building across from me, nor the beautiful beach. When the weather gets like this, it triggers headaches. So all week long, I've had what I call a background headache and nothing would take it away. So sorry, that I didn't visit anyones blogs, I'll try and play catchup. Knowing how my headaches go, I knew it was only a matter of time before that background headache turned into a full blown migraine. So on Saturday, my fears came true, I couldn't even get out of bed till 1 o'clock.

Late in the afternoon or not, my anniversary was the next day, I had to get busy making hubby a card. This image reminded me of when we first met and we would sit on the beach like this and talk for hours, So I took out one of may favorite sets from Stampin Up Summer by the Sea, and made this for him. Happy Anniversary Sweetheart!!!!

Sketch Saturday #120

This was done for the Sketch Saturday Challenge. As soon as I saw the sketch, the put the papers together which is usually how I start any card, the hardest part was picking out an image. Everything was either too cute and wasn't right for the paper, or too big and overwhelmed the paper. So I started digging in my closet and came up with this. When I first stamped the image, I stamped it on vanila cardstock but it just stood out like a sore thumb, so I used one of the plain pieces of cardstock that came with the pack which matches so much better.

Papers: I think these are DCWV and is a 4 x 6 pack and is flocked, & SU: Basic Black

Boo!!!! Just Magnolia

I didn't think I'd be able to play today, I woke up with one of the worst migraine headaches I've had in awhile white lights, throwing up the whole nine yards. Couldn't take any more medication since I didn't know how much my body had already absorbed. My poor husband didn't know what to do since he couldn't help me. So God Bless my son, he heard what was going on, woke up, got cold compress, darkened the room and took great care of me. So now that I'm feeling a little better, I decided to check out the the Just Magnolia Blog, and must admit that as soon as I saw this sketch, I had to play along. What another great sketch by Dawny P.

Coffee Time

I followed Lillian's Sketch over at the Sugar Bowl. This week not only do we have to follow a sketch but we also have to use pearls somewhere on our card. So I used these blue ones as buttons on her dress and for the center of the flowers. I guess I am in a blue mood since all I've been using lately is blue and brown tones. Think I better shake things up a little bit and reach for another color, but I'm so in love with these new papers from Stampin Up and Pacific Point is such a vibrant color...

Relaxing at the Lake-Copic Creations & Cute Card Thursday

Since I already had this set out, the papers out, and everything else out that I used yesterday, I thought I would put this card together. I thought that the image in the boat was pefect for the Copic Creations Challenge which is Reflections & that it would work perfectly with the Cute Card Thursday Sketch this week. I used my mirror image stamp and first stamped the boat which will be my reflection in the water, and then used my stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the image above the water so that I could line it up with the reflection. I then used my versa marker pen and carefully colored in the image that is above the water, put on Clear Embossing Powder and heat embossed so that when I brayered over it, it would not pick up any of the color. I did not do this for the reflection image since it is in the water, it does not have to be crisp & clean. After I brayerd soft sky, & Baja Breeze over the entire image, I sponged on Not Quite Navy to give it a little depth. This was also inspired by a tutorial given by Michelle Zindorf quite some time ago and glad I remembered it.

Papers: SU: Blueberry Crisp, Sahara Sand, Not Quite Navy

Ink for Brayer: Soft Sky, Baja Breeze & Not Quite Navy

Mojo Monday #152

It has been ages upon ages since I've done a Mojo Monday Challenge, and ages upon ages that I did a "normal" size card which is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. Lately I've been doing 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 easel cards. Anyway, thought this sketch was perfect for this image and I so love this retired set from SU and thought it would be perfect for my parents who will be celebrating there 59th Wedding Anniversary next week. I used this image since it reminded me of the days long ago when my father took me and my sister to Jones Beach.

Everybody Art Challenge #100 Thoughts Of You

I am entering this in theEverybody Art Challenge which will be my first entry. When I saw that this weeks challenge was to use Blue which is my favorite color, I knew this was right up my alley. I decided to take out an older set from Stampin Up and make this card for my sister just to let her know I am thinking of her. This is one set that I will never part with. I usually drag out my brayer whenever I reach for this set, but decided to try making clouds using a scallop. I've seen this technique quite often but finally was inspired when I saw Jeanettes beautiful card and tutorial which can be found by following
this link

So thanks for the inspiration Jeanette.. and Sis this one's for you.

Baby Shower

A very quick Post this morning, as I have to drive to White Plains for my nieces Baby Shower. Yes, ladies I am going to be a Great Aunt. Oh wait I already am a "Great Aunt"...lol....These are the Pillow Boxes that I made for her, there are 80 in total. I used the Stampin Up Pillow Box Die Cut from Sizzix, Pretty in Pink Paper for the Pillow Box, and the new Sending Love Specialty Paper for the band along with ribbon, and the So Many Scallops stamp set also from Stampin Up. 9 steps in all...Thank Goodness for my girlfriends and the assembly line we created. What would have taken me a week to do by myself, only took a matter of hours. The red bands are the same color as the stroller that she wanted and I purchased for her, so the colors of the Designer Paper were perfect for this project. The bows on the side of the basket were made using the Bowdabra..OMG!!!! one of the best investments I ever made, especially since I used a Michael's coupon....I now want to make bows and put it on everything...

The card is also an old Stampin Up set that was colored with copics. Here is another view of the basket...

I also crocheted a baby blanket for her, which I made smaller than most instructions call for, I did this size because it is perfect for the car, carriage or stroller. The ones in the books are huge and to me not practical for a baby blanket. I used the shell stich for this design. I didn't want to use the traditional pink and white, and figured these colors would be perfect if the baby spit up, since it wouldn't show. It is a little longer than the picture shows, and also folded in half so is twice the width as what you see...

Thanks for looking... and Happy Sunday everyone.
Hugs
Debbie

Brayer Time

I reached for the brayer for this card, using Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay & Not Quite Navy for the sky and the water, stamped on the Island with the tree from Fire Cracker Designs. I then tore a post it note for the mountains placed it over the area I didn't want any green on covering my work and used Old Olive & Mellow Moss. To create the horizon, I again used a post it note and placed it along the line and sponged in Not Quite Navy. I then stamped the trees in the fore ground from Stampin Up's Lovely as a Tree set, sponged in Old Olive on all the tress to give it some depth, and just a little bit in the water creating the mirror image for the tree on the island. The hardest part for this card was placing the squares in a perfect line, for the backgrond of the image, not sure why that part took me so long, Other than that, it was a pretty easy card.

Images: Fire Cracker Deigns by Pamela, Stampin Up: Lovely as A Tree
Inks: Memento Black Ink, Old Olive, Mellow Moss, Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay, & Not Quite Navy.
Accessories: Stampin Up: Square Punch & Corner Punch, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Folder

Reflection At The Lake & Nature's Beauty

Well since I had all the stuff out to brayer and my 15 year old soon to be 16 year old son commented on how much he loves my brayered cards when he saw the one I did for my BIL. I did 2 more... Now to decide which one to give him.

I used the mirror image stamp for the reflection of the wolf in the water and then the stamp-a-ma-jig to get the wolf placed just right over the reflection. For the wolf that is on the land part of the card, I first stamped it in my versa mark pad and then in Basic Black Ink. I then put clear embossing powder over it and heat embossed so that when i brayered on the sky and mountains it did not pick up any of the ink...To get the shape of the mountains, I ripped a post it, I placed one half on the top and the other half on the bottom for the reflection. I sponged on first Certainly Celery and then Old Olive. As for the tree, I stamped on the reflection again using the mirror image stamp and filled in the area between the upright tree and the reflection tree with a basic black marker

For this card I used first stamped on the tree again using the versa mark pad and then stamped it in Timber Brown Staz on. I put on clear embossing powder and heat embossed. I then brayered half the top half with Soft Sky, Blue Bayho, and sponged on Not Quite Navy. For the land, I brayered first with certainly celery and then sponged on Old Olive. I then took another post it note to make the mountains, and the horizon. Last but not least, I stamped on the buck.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you like it

Relax

This card was done for my BIL's birthday who's birthday is in 2 weeks. Since I wanted to do a masculine card and I find I always reach for my brayer when doing one. So I dusted it off and used an oldie but goodie retired set from Stampin Up from the sketches series. Before I put it away, I will do one more for my son who commented on this card and who's birthday is next week. Now to think of something to do...

I had so much fun with this challenge I did 2 Cards..So thanks for letting me get 2 more Christmas cards done...
