Just Be Yourself Layout

My granddaughter thinks she's being facetious when taking these silly selfies on my phone but I love them so much. She's so silly and she's truly Just Bee-ing Herself.

All of the elements are from the Bee Happy collection from Echo Park with the exception of the cardstock.

I followed a sketch by Sketch n Scrap

Watch the YouTube process and listen to my thoughts as I create this layout. Check it out!

TomKat Strut Challenges; Part Two

Hey there, I'm sure you had a chance to see the post & YouTube process video for the left side a.k.a. Part One of this two page spread. If not, check out the post HERE.

I used the same sketch to change this one page sketch to a two page spread. I love using sketches for a jumping point when creating layouts. It gives me a place to start instead of working with a blank page. Even when the sketch is not used exactly, you can see how it inspired the patterned papers placement. And of course, I added many more photos!

I basically did a mirror image of the left page for this one and I love how it flows!

Sketch is from Sketch n Scrap

TKS IV Challenges Layout Part One

I love using sketches to add paper to a layout base. It's a great way to start instead of staring at a blank page. This layout is inspired by this sketch from Sketch n Scrap

I turned this one page sketch into a two page layout. Here's the left side:

And here's the right (YT process video will be posted soon)

What I love about these pages:
The sneakers going across the bottom of them
Multi photos
Nautical themed kit used on a non-nautical page
Cute simple embellishments

Measurements:
Yellow strip 11x3
Word paper 10x5
Star paper 8x8 square

Hummingbird Layout

I used three wallet size photos for this layout. To be honest, the photos weren't really that great, but I needed to do a layout of this event. We had a hummingbird nest and eventually babies in the summer of 2022.

It was so cool! Mama made her nest and laid her eggs in our gazebo. It was absolutely crazy and mama wouldn't let anyone go into the gazebo while she was protecting her babies.

Every day at the end of the day, we would go out there and just check to see how they were doing. We would talk about how mama was feeling; how the babies were doing, etc.

Mother Nature at its finest! We loved the experience and were so excited when the babies finally flew outside the nest. The sad thing is there were lots of predatory birds just waiting to get to the babies. We're pretty sure one of them was taken because we only really saw one on the fence with mama.

Back to the layout. I used some beautiful paper from 49 and Market for no other reason than I wanted to use this paperline at some point. I added some stamped images of hummingbirds and some inking on my page but otherwise, it's pretty simple. I used a sketch from Sketch n Scrap for the layout. It was perfect for my three small photos.

I love how the purple and green stripe just pop off that neutral background! And I created a pocket that I plan on putting more details of the event.

Watch the YouTube process video for all the details!

Krazy Kreations Fun Fold Card

I feel like this card has all the things! First of all the cute cupcake sticker from Krazy Kreations, glitter paper (also from Krazy Kreations), alcohol markers, fun folder, sketch, Alice in Wonderland patterned paper and two shapes cut from the Cricut.

I purchased the cupcake stickers at the Expo earlier this year from looking at all the cool samples in the Krazy Kreations booth. I didn't attend a workshop but it seemed easy enough. I did however, check out their website to get hints on how to work with them.

The glitter paper is white so I could use alcohol markers to color in whatever color scheme I wanted. My colors matched the Alice in Wonderland paper perfectly. Although this is not AIW specific, it is so perfect for a birthday! I purchased the AIW paper from Scrappy Boy; also at the Expo.

I used a sketch from Sketch n Scrap and thought this easy fun fold card worked perfectly with it.

Watch the process video especially at the end where I had a big OOPS, but managed to salvage the card!

Attach the sticker to the glitter paper; color the insides of the sticker; fold the card as desired & adhere the fun AIW patterned paper plus some cardstock; use the Cricut to cut a scalloped and regular circle; stamp sentiment in the inside and done!

I love the quality of the sticker & glitter paper from Krazy Kreations! I'm definitely going to look closer at their booth next year at the Expo. I can see how these can be a lot of fun and make stunning cards! Yup, I'd purchase more!

Iron Crafter Challenge Hop; Eyelets, Brads and Buttons

I'm excited about this month's Iron Crafter Challenge since the product to use is eyelets, brads and/or buttons. Every year when I attend the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo, I go to the Eyelet Outlet booth and buy lots of brads because every year, I tell myself that I'm going to use them.

Well...eventually I do but definitely not soon enough. I printed photos of my granddaughter on her Sixth Grade promotion ceremony and decided to use some butterfly brads that I have. The colors match the 70's color scheme which also match the color of her sweater that she was wearing.

I bought the Simple Stories Boho Sunshine scrapbooking kit from the Expo and used a sketch from Sketch n Scrap to start the layout.

The two main pieces are cut at 5x10 each and the horizontal strip is 2x11. All the embellishments are from the kit.

INFO ON THE HOP:

Finishing Easter 2022; Sketch n Scrap

I'm still scrapbooking Easter 2022 although I've moved away from these photos for other layouts, I still need to get them done! I decided to use a Sketch n Scrap sketch for these photos and to extend it to a two pager. Sketch:

I chose this sketch because of all the paper strips. What a great way to use a kit and/or scraps! I'm still using the Hop To It collection from Photo Play with the hopes to use as many of these pieces as possible. Layout:

I'm excited to say that I used most items from this kit. I love when I go through my stash!

The pattern paper strips are cut at 2.5x10.5” and the white banners at 2.75x10.5”.

Be sure to check out the process video here:

You can check out the sketches on the Sketch n Scrap Monthly Challenge Group on FaceBook or on their blog. Even though I am no longer on the Design Team, I still love their sketches and plan on using them often!

All cardstock is from CutCardStock

SNS Layout Sketch #297

I've got a fun layout for you today based off a sketch from Sketch n Scrap. I'm using sketch #297. It's Sketch n Scrap's birthday month this May so head over to their blog and/or FaceBook page for lots of fun challenges and sketches. Each month they post two challenges for cards and two for one page layouts. In May, to honor their birthday month, there will be bringing back older sketches but with a twist! Be sure to check them out.

This is one of the regular monthly sketches for May:

When I saw the stars, I instantly thought of the softball photos of my oldest granddaughter. I used paper and some stickers from a Photo Play paper kit and the die cuts are from a softball layout kit from Out On A Limb Scrapbooking.

The softball patterned paper was cut at 4" strips and that's pretty much all I did extra to this layout besides assemble the die cuts.

I also stretched this into a double page spread and repeating the sketch on the right side. Be sure to check out the process video here:

I love the bright red & yellow colors and the hearts & stars are so perfect for it too!

Birthday Bash Challenge #4; Sketch n Scrap

Sketch n Scrap is celebrating its birthday this May with lots of challenges, sketches and sketches with twists! I got to chose the layout sketch with a twist for this challenge.

Here's the sketch:

And the twist:  MONOCHROMATIC

Here's my layout:

I started by searching for yellow patterned papers. I need to find different sized patterns so it was easier on the eyes. Next, I used the Cricut to cut a 10.75" circle with one patterned paper and a 2.5" strip of another. I only had three photos of the girls dying eggs so I included a 3x4 card for the fourth "photo".

Some Easter stickers, cute title, yellow ink & splatter make this layout super cute and actually pretty easy to put together.

Be sure to join the BIRTHDAY fun at the Sketch n Scrap challenge site either on their blog or Facebook page. There are lots of older sketches but with twists! So fun!

SNS #265

May is going to hold a Birthday Bash on the Sketch n Scrap site. I'm working with card sketch #265 this month and it's a good one especially when you are mass creating - like I did!

I bought some paper & die cuts from Scrappy Boys from the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo in March and thought they would be perfect for this sketch. In fact, so perfect that I made FIVE cards using this sketch and five different characters.

The first thing I did was cut a piece of cardstock at 5.25x4". I cut & attached a piece of 3.5x4" piece of paper to the left of this piece of cardstock and a 1.75x4" piece on the right. Each 1/4" strip is a little different too. Some are straight and some have a scalloped edge.

I used the Print then Cut option in Cricut Design Space to make the sentiment rectangles & bursts since I didn't have stamps to go with these MARVELous die cuts.

Be sure to join the challenge at Sketch n Scrap blog or FaceBook page.

Sketch n Scrap Layout Sketch#295

Using sketches is one of the best things when you're experiencing a creative block. I love this sketch from Sketch n Scrap because even though it has the horizontal line for photos, you can easily turn it to accompany vertical photos - like I did!

Now, this can be neat and tidy like the sketch or I could really mix it up and create something completely different but somehow be inspired by this sketch. I pretty much followed the sketch with the exception of turning it on it’s side.

I scrapbooked this one photo that my daughter and I took during the 2022 superbowl. We didn’t care about the teams but were looking forward to the halftime show!

I gathered football papers and created the title on my Cricut using the print/cut function. The stars were also cut using the Cricut.

Watch the YouTube video to see how this was put together.

Cutting Dimensions:
Tan football word tone on tone paper was cut at 7x12"
Football laces at 4x12"
Football field is approximately 5x9"
I used the Print then Cut function on the Cricut for the title
Stars were cut with the Cricut as well as the banner shape.

Sketch n Scrap Card Sketch #263

I'm working with another great card sketch from Sketch n Scrap. It's funny because when you first look at card sketches, you're first thought might be...hmmm that seems too simple. But then you also get to do WHATEVER YOU WANT with it.

Here's the sketch:

And here's what I did with it:
I used paper scraps that are on my desktop. I have them organized by color in a container to make it easier to use them. This is a double sided paper and mixed with a red scrap was perfect!

I also had the colored lobster that was just left on my desk looking for a home!

A stamped sentiment and an enamel heart are the finishing touches for this nautical birthday card.

I liked this sketch so much that I created a second card.  This one has a curse word so don’t check the YouTube video if you’re sensitive to it.

Check the video here:

And be sure to click over to the Sketch n Scrap blog and/or Facebook page to see more sketches!

I Love Lucy; Sketch n Scrap Sketch #262

I am so excited to show off this card using a stamp set from Scrappy Boys and a sketch from Sketch n Scrap

I'm using sketch #262 but I decided to turn it to it's side and make a vertical card instead.

Here's the card:

and the inside:

Oh my gosh! This cracks me up! I'm not a big wine drinker but how perfect is this for a wine loving friend?!

I colored the Lucy image with alcohol markers and used foam adhesive to pop her up on the card front. I'm showing my age, but do you remember the hilarious episode when Lucy was stomping the grapes? I love this stamp set and can't wait to make more cards using these Lucy images as well as the great sentiments.

Can I tell you a secret??? I didn't originally plan on stamping the grapes on the inside of the card. I smudged some ink in that lefthand corner so I needed to cover it up. Check out the YouTube video for another oops and how I fixed it.

Be sure to click over to the Sketch n Scrap blog for all the sketches and challenges - they're also on Facebook!
