My Next Stitchy Project

Greetings!

I made my way back to my local cross-stitch store today. I was just there last week and made a nice purchase of patterns to add to my ever growing stash. Well one of the patterns was just calling me all week. The model I am stitching is 99% finished so I wanted to make sure I was prepared for my next project when that one was officially done.

Here is a picture of my next stitchy project:

The Letters from Nora Patterns by Nora Corbett are just beautiful and I fell in love with the "J". The pattern called for 32 Ct Linen, but I'm too chicken to stitch on that. I'm stitching it on 32 Ct Waterlily Evenweave from Wichlet. The threads are Crescent Colours Hand Dyed Floss and the beads are from Mill Hill. The pattern also calls for a 3rd bead color and Kreinick #4 braid, but I have to go back for those as the store was out of stock.

I am super excited to do this project. I have never done one that included beadwork before and I know once I finish this project I will want to do the other letters by Nora Corbett. In fact, I'm already trying to think of who I can stitch these for as apparently finding wall space for 26 of these will be a little too tough.

I will make sure to post my stitching progress for all to see.

Enjoy your evening!

Baby Shower Projects

Hello Again:

I have more projects to share. My co-workers and I attended a baby shower luncheon today at The Cheesecake Factory for a girl we all used to work with. She is having a baby boy and is extremely excited. I am so happy for her. Since I am the crafty one of the department, I volunteered to make a baby card for her from all of us and I volunteered to make little party favors.

First the card:

It is a 5 1/2 X 5 1/2 square card. The papers are from a paper pack called Nona's Nursery "Baby Boy" by DCWV. The digi is from Sew Many Cards colored with colored pencils. If you look really closely, there is a punched border on the bottom that I layered over. It was made with a Martha Stewart punch. The embellishment that looks like a charm bracelet I bought from Michaels. It was in the scrapbook section and I believe it was a Jolie's embellishment. Funny enough I bought this for another card I made some time ago and never used it. It was sitting in my stash ever since. The pearls are from my stash. The ribbon is from Paper Wishes and Stickles were added for the final touch. I just love stickles, don't you? To me, they just turn a card from it looks nice to dazzling! We all know women love shiny things. :D

My next project are the party favors I made. I used the Picnic Basket template from Paper Wishes. I used papers from the same paper stack as the card because they were nice and heavy. I added stickles and a bow, lined them with tissue paper and added Herrshey's chocolate kisses for the treats. Everybody loved them. In fact, my manager hinted to me that she might make an order of these for an anniversary party. I was like "Huh, come again?" LOL.

Thanks for looking and I hope you all enjoy your weekend.

A Stained Glass Card

Happy Friday All!

Here is a photo of a recent card I made for a card swap over on the Paper Wishes Message Board. I can finally share it as it has made its way to its recipient over the pond. We were challenged to make a card using a stained glass technique. Now there are several techniques out there that one can use, but I chose a less challenging route. I bought a book that contained Stained Glass looking images on vellum. I matted my image on a paper that brought out the colors of the image on the vellum. All of the papers and ribbon is from Paper Wishes. I love how well the rick-rack worked on the card and of course I finished it off with stickles for some shine. I purposely left off the sentiment so my recipient can customize it for any occasion she chooses.

Thanks for looking!

Why Hello Everyone!

Hello Friends:

For the record, I am just itching to post a photo of the cross-stitch piece I am working on, but sadly I can't. It is a model of a chart that has not been released yet. No worries, once it is published I will broadcast it on blogland. Until my next post, I leave you all with a picture of paradise.

Where is this gem of a beach you ask? It is Sapphire Beach in St. Thomas US Virgin Islands. I'm in love with this beach. ;-)

Enjoy your Friday evening !
