More teals and browns...

I think I love this color combination! :-) Either that, or I have so much of it I need to use it! LOL These blocks are from Jinny Beyer's website. They are called the Seaside Star variation. They are not paper-pieced, and there are no set in seams, yet they look complex! I love it when a pattern does that! :-) Teal is a funny color... I've asked at different quilt shops and have been shown bolts of 'teal green' and 'teal blue', and everyone has an opinion as to what 'teal' is. I can't decide which I like better, the bluer stars or the greener. I think, I like them both! ;-)

It's Friday!

I love Friday's! I look forward to the slower pace of weekends... although some weekends are not so slow! ;-) Some weekends I look forward to Monday's, for a little peace and quiet. LOL

Today I just puttered around the house, and those are my favorite Friday's! I finished up all of my blocks for a swap. We are swapping teal and brown star blocks. I made the Maryland Star from Carol Doak's 50 Fabulous Paper-Pieced Stars book, the Sweden Star from her Mariner's Compass Stars book, and I found the Seaside Star variation on Jinny Beyer's website. I made 6 of each star for the swap. They each presented their own challenges. I'm not a speedy paper-piecer and it seemed like the Sweden Stars took me the longest to do. The Seaside Stars are not paper-pieced and although complex looking, they were not too difficult. Just the kinda break I needed. ;-)

Hopefully I'll be able to play in my flowerbeds this weekend... another favorite of mine. ;-)

Have a happy weekend!

Yikes! Has it been that long...

...since I last posted?! :-o
Happy Earth Day!

Just keeping busy here with all kinds of things. Made a lot of progress on my denim/flannel raggy quilts and worked on 'Shakespeare in the Park' blocks. These are some of the Shakespeare blocks. I have always loved this pattern and am so happy to have found some time to start it! :-)

Happy quilting!

25 Honeyberries Blocks..

Whoohoo! The sewing machine has been busy. Here is a photo of the 25 blocks all laid out together. I won't be able to sew them together for a while as I am going to be gone all weekend. And next week I have other commitments. Ah well, they will wait for me. ;-) The photo does get a little larger if you click on it.
Now I need to switch gears and get those flannel/denim raggy's together for graduation gifts. :-)
Happy stitching!

Quiltathon Weekend

I had a great weekend! Mainly, I cut because I'm off to a retreat next weekend and wanted to have my projects all cut out and ready to go. Our family HS graduation gift is a raggy denim/flannel quilt. I've made them for all the boy graduates we've known for the past few years and they have always been very well-received. Well, this year DD graduates and I didn't think she'd really want a denim/flannel quilt. Boy was I wrong! She not only wants one for herself, but for her best girlfriend too. :-) And we do have a boy graduate this year too. So... I recycled denim for 3 quilts! They are all cut out and ready for the sewing. Whoohoo!

Next I worked on Honeyberries. I trimmed up/squared up all the blocks for the final steps. I did make it to my sewing machine to start assembling them, but forgot to take a photo! Maybe I'll be able to get back to them tomorrow.

Thanks for the inspiration for a great weekend Judy! :-)

Spent Today Cookin'...

Seriously, if you have not gone over to check out The Big Cook, you are missing out! :-) I have spent part of today (and a little time yesterday) preparing meals for my freezer. The one's I have tried have been big hits with my family, so I made up a few more. I think I am all set for Judy's Quiltathon and beyond! :-) The meals are easy to prepare, they use common ingredients and they cook up fresh. I love it! :-) And no, I don't know these women personally, I might never have even heard of this great cookbook if not for a friend I met thru the internet. :-)

Have a happy day! I am! ;-)

Working on blocks..

I'm back to working on Honeyberries. And I am so glad I am ambidextrous! All of the blocks need squaring up at this point and it is so much easier to switch off hands with the rotary cutter. Otherwise my wrists would really hurt! Once all of these blocks are trimmed to the right size, it will be back to the sewing machine. ;-)

On another note... have you ever heard of this book? The Big Cook A friend from Canada sent it to me and I love it! It is such a neat concept! I've started trying out the recipes on my family and I can see where this will be a great help for Quiltathon days. :-) I already have a meal ready for this weekend.

Days Fly By...

Time is just flying by much too fast for me! I haven't been in my sewing room in nearly a week! :-( Ok, I've been near it... I am reorganizing. But since I haven't really been organized since my last move, it is time! We shopped for shelves, assembled them and they are waiting for me to fill them up. This is Spring Break week for my children, so day trips have been keeping me away. Next week I'll be back with some photo's and hopefully get back on track with my projects.
Happy stitching!

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
