Friday and Mail!

Remember this post? Well guess what came in the mail?! Blocks from Bingo~Bonnie!! Whoohoo! :-) I find it funny how we are making the same blocks, using blue in the same spots and yet our blocks look so different! Below are Bonnie's. Now if I put them side by side, you will see what I mean too. I tend toward some pretty loud scraps! :-o Yikes! I didn't even realize that until I got Bonnie's. LOL I'm sure that when we combine them, they will be beautiful. :-)) I love Bonnie's blocks~ lots of my favorite colors~ autumns!! :-))

And look what is waiting for me~~ more Triangulations HST's to sew! ;-) Maybe I can sneak in a little sewing time this weekend~ hope so!

Have a great Friday and happy weekend!

Until next time~

Too Hot to Sew?

I never thought that would be possible here in the Pacific NW, but it is!! :-o Especially if you don't have A/C. :-/ And now, when my mojo is back is not the time to be slacking off! :-( But ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right? So to appease myself a little bit, I sewed up a bunch of HST's this morning when it was a mite cooler, and then sat in front of the fan ~LOL :-)) ~and took the papers off this afternoon. ;-) I may repeat this process a few more times this week! LOL :-) ..And hope that this heat wave doesn't last too long. ;-)

Have a great evening and until next time~

Keep stitchin'!! :-)

~~Design Wall Monday~~

Once again it is Judy L's Design Wall Monday and what is on my wall? Today it is on my cutting mat. :-)

I am back to making My Blue Heaven blocks (from Quilter'sCache). Bingo~Bonnie and I have been making these blocks to swap. (Go & check out her design wall!) Anyway, I am behind. I thought I only needed to do these 6 to finish up 12 for her & 12 for me... but that girl is so speedy! She has 18 blocks ready to swap! :-o Since I looove swapping blocks~ I am off to make another dozen, so I have 18 to swap too. Thank goodness for Triangulations! LOL :-))

Until next time~

My Mojo is Back! :-)

A diversion from my regular piecing did it! :-))
I made a Sweet Treat bag!~ the pattern can be found in the 'Fun Stuff' at Moda Fabrics. And it was fun! I used some of the scraps I won a while back from Sheree's Alchemy. And it was fun! {Did I mention that already? Sorry.} ;-)) Since I didn't have a HoneyBun, I cut strips of different widths from the scraps. A few I pieced. And I added in the turquoise rick-rack because I thought it needed a little focal point. I used a magnetic closure instead of velcro~ yes, I know it is a little off, I wanted it centered on that stripe so my stripes would line up when it was closed. ;-) The next one will be better~ the next one? Of course there will be more! It was fun!! :-) And DD practically begged for this one! LOL :-))

Have a happy day~ I'm headed back to sew some more!

Oh yeah, my mojo is definitely back!! :-))

Until next time~

And now it looks like I picked the 2 most popular colors! :-o Oh well, they will be in the mail next week. Put your shades on and cover your ears~ they are a little loud. ;-)

Jewel Boxes~

I just love the jewel box block pattern~ and using the Triangulations technique for all those HST's makes it really easy! ;-) I'm hosting a block swap on the HGTV quilting forum for this block in 30's fabrics and white on whites. My blocks are finished and ready for swapping! :-) It feels great to have them finished! Hopefully, you can click the photo for a closer look~ the box right beside the blocks has my extra's that I made for me. :-)

Have a great weekend and until next time~

Happy stitchin'!!
**whoops~blogger tipped my photo! :-/ sorry about that!**

~Mail Call~~

Remember being at camp for the summer and having mail call? I worked as a camp counselor one summer and mail call was always the highlight of the evening meal! We had to dance, sing, tell a joke etc to get our mail~ always a riot! LOL :-)

Anyway, my first round of colorblocks is here! (See the button in my sidebar.) I love 'em! After the next round, there should be a nice number for a lap quilt. I added the ones I kept for myself to the photo, so if you were in the swap and wondering at the odd number, that's why! :-)

Now I'm headed back to do a little sewing for the next round. :-)

Until next time~

Happy Stitchin'!! :-)

~Thimbles~

One of my friends on the HGTV forum is having a no-sew thimble block swap using the pattern from Sindy Rodenmayer's FatCat Patterns (with Sindy's permission, of course ;-) ). We are using oriental prints. After she swaps the blocks, we can finish the edges of all our blocks ourselves~ I like that because then I won't have a mix of buttonhole stitch and blanket stitch or whatever. I'm not sure what I should do for the edges yet~what would you do? We used raw edge fusible applique and everyone was supposed to cut out the 'window' in the thimble. I used a lot of different orientals because not very many swappers signed up. I'm looking forward to a cute little thimble wall hanging for my sewing room. ;-) It's going to go right above my thimble collection. :-)) Although I'm not very handy at using a thimble, I sure do love them! LOL Do you have a sewing related collection? (besides fabric & patterns) LOL :-)) I'd love to hear about it!

Until next time~

Look at What I Won! :-))

A while back I posted about some blogland giveaway's and one of them was for a cool bunch of scraps & a pattern at Sheree's Alchemy. Sheree has the coolest blog, so if you didn't enter the giveaway, go look at it now. Look at her portfolio~ doesn't she make just the cutest children's clothes?! And this summer she is teaching sewing classes to children~ how fun! She has such a joy and zest for sewing!

I feel quite lucky to have won my second ever giveaway!! :-)) Look at all these fun prints!! I know my DD is going to go nuts when she sees them! The pattern for the bags is soooo cute! (sorry, I got so excited snapping the photo that I didn't check it until I was resizing it, and it got a bit washed out. :-/ )

Someone, pinch me and bring me back to earth! :-))) LOL I'm not quite sure what I'll make first, but I know there are going to be some cute bags coming from these pieces. ;-)

Thank you so much Sheree!! :-))

Design Wall Monday & Other Stuff ~

Good morning! I had a wonderful weekend! I went to the Sisters, Oregon Outdoor Quilt Show! :-)) Aaaannd Fabric Depot! What fun! If you look at the quilt show link, they have a link to photo's of all the quilts that were for sale. So many lovely quilts! :-))) I wore that big grin all day! LOL

And Fabric Depot is a huge store! It is dizzying! Good thing I don't live close to it as it would be too tempting to spend every day there! LOL :-) I didn't purchase much, I was too overwhelmed. But I did find another lovely leaf print! So today's design wall once again has the northwind blocks. ;-) {I promise you won't see it again next week! LOL} I went with the brighter gold for the inner border as it seemed to look better with the gold blocks around the edges, but now, which leaf print would you choose?? Left or right? I love them both, but I am definitely leaning more toward one than the other. I wonder if you would choose the same one? :-)

I'm off to finish up my jewel box blocks~ I may have photo's later today or tomorrow. ;-)

Have a great day and until next time~

Happy Stitchin'!!

Working Wednesday~

..or maybe it should say 'What I Am Up To Wednesday'. ;-)

I decided to give the northwind blocks a rest. Thank you for all your border votes! I've narrowed it down to the lower two golds~ I'm moving them around the quilt to see if either clashes with any of the outer blocks, then that one would be out. If not, I'll just close my eyes and choose one! LOL :-)

In the meantime~ I finished block 7 of Verandah Views last night. I left off the tail part that was below the post on purpose, because I thought my bird was cute without having such a long tail. Just pretend his tail is hidden behind the wood. LOL ;-)

And I'm back to working on Triangulations. :-) This time they are for the Jewel Box Blocks swap I am doing on HGTV. I have 2 sets finished and this last one to go~ I just love making HST's with Triangulations! And I love the rotating mat for trimming them! When I do these, I trim off half of the little 'rabbit ear' ends while I'm trimming up the blocks~ I trim the outer triangles off, them when I have a center square left, I nip off those double ends. The rest I'll take when I'm relaxing tonight and snip off and then finger press them all open. They will be ready to join the 4 patches I will do this afternoon. I love a plan! LOL! :-))

What are you working on today? If you leave me a comment, I'll come over and see~ ;-)

Until next time~

Happy Stitchin'! ...and no rippin'!! :-)))

Design Wall Monday~ Choices!

I hope y'all had a happy weekend!

My design wall (read floor) has the Northwind top on it once again~ are you tired of it yet?

Today's choices are border options~ :-) I have a bunch of HST's the same size as the ones in the blocks, but I'm thinking that would make the border way too busy with the leaf print fabric, so I'll save those for another day. ;-) Since this is already a 72 x 90 top, I was thinking along the lines of a smaller inner gold border and then maybe a 5 inch (?) leaf border.... or are the leaves too much too? Ahhh! This is why I have so many tops without borders! :-o Please tell me your ideas!~~

1. Should I go with the more muted top (in the photo) gold?

2. The center gold that has green in it?

3. The brighter bottom gold?

Hopefully this week will be a bit on the quiet side and I will be able to get the borders on. ;-) Which would mean new project photo's next week!! :-))

Until next time~

Happy Stitchin'! :-)

The Center is Together!

Whoohoo! :-) And not a minute too soon! Now I need to clean up my little disaster and prepare for the weekend. ;-)

Pinning was definitely the way to go with this one, even if it did take a lot of time. I probably shouldn't tell you, but even with pinning, I had to rip a few times! :-o Does that mean I'm a bad pinner? LOL :-)) I don't sew over pins, so a few times, things moved just enough to make me rip and try again when I'd pull out the pin too early~ impatient me! :-)

Now to figure out borders~ after the weekend. ;-)

Until next time~

Happy Stitchin'!! :-) And have a happy weekend too!! :)

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
