Design Wall Monday~

Do you remember last week? I think it zipped by a little too fast! ;-) Can I have a re-do? LOL

I got the top for the November Schnibbles 'Picnic' together in just the nick of time! Whoohoo! 'Schnibbles' are small patterns designed for charm packs by Carrie of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.
Sinta & Sherri had the idea of doing one a month for our own personal enjoyment. 'A Year of Schnibbles' was born! It's so much fun to sew with a group of ladies~ we keep each other on track and I'm actually finishing things~~ for me! :-) For November they chose the 'Picnic' pattern. I have been on a red/white kick lately and recently a friend sent me some some red/white FQ's that I was just itching to use~ so here is my 'Picnic'! :-) If you visit Sinta & Sherri's blogs tomorrow, you will be able to see a parade of Schnibbles. I love to see how others used the pattern. Enjoy!

And now my design wall is going to be occupied with MyBlueHeaven (pattern on QuiltersCache) blocks for a little swap I am doing with Bingo~Bonnie. Back to work with me! :-)

Check out other blogger's Design Walls at Judy L's~ Enjoy!

Until next time~

Catching Up~

Whew! What a whirlwind it has been around here! DD is safely back at school now, so I can catch up! :-) We went to New Moon while she was home, shopped til I dropped, and had a very good time. :-)

But~ I am a little late in saying some big thank you's! :-/ First to Julie at jaybird quilts. Her Mom picked me in her recent giveaway and this came in yesterdays mail! :-) Thank you Julie and Sandy!! Two great magazines and a gorgeous charm pack! DD was pining over it, but I think I already have a plan for it. ;-) We'll see...

And Heather Mulder Peterson of Anka's Treasures gave away 10 copies of her newest pattern book through the Fat Quarter Shop~ and I came in as number 10! :-o Thank you Heather and the ladies of Fat Quarter Shop! I love the cover runner! Well, and all of them! I don't know where to start! ;-) Sorry the photo is a little blurry, apparently all my chandelier lights decided it was time to burn out! We have a very mellow dining room at the moment. LOL

And my good friend from TX sent this wonderful box~painted so pretty! And inside there was fabric! :-) I just love the tan/black paisley print! And she sent a redwork pattern and the cute buttons. It was a belated birthday box. How fun! Thank you! :-) Now I am off to put my feet in the air and do a little fun reading!
Until next time~

If You Guessed...

'Pick-i-nick' baskets, you are correct! Yogi can spot those anywhere! :-)) LOL

I'm working on the baskets for the next Schnibbles project (good guess Bonnie!)~ this month the pattern is 'Picnic' from the Schnibbles patterns at Miss Rosie's Quilt Company.
There are 4 different basket patterns to mix and match & choose from. I'm kind of wishing I hadn't chosen the large red/white print, but I just finished squaring up a pile of HST's and there is no changing plans now! ;-) I must get back to work~ there are a lot of those pesky HST's in this pattern! :-o Did I already mention that? Well, they are driving me a little loopy! :-)) LOL or 'crazy'! ;-)

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

Thursday~ already!

The week is flying too fast for me! I have been sewing, but not much to show y'all yet. ;-) My turkey does have all his tail feathers~ I'm hoping to be quilting tomorrow. So maybe I will have him ready for showing in a few days. ;-)

Right now my cutting mat is covered in these~~ do you know what I'm doing?

I'll give you a little hint in my deep Yogi Bear voice~' hey BooBoo, what do you see?' LOL :-)

Until next time~

~Mail!~

I joined the Fig Tree Club at The Quilt Shoppe ~~ Julie at jaybird quilts sent me! :-)) and I am so glad she did! It was just the little nudge I needed as I'd been debating about it for a while. Thanks Julie! :-) ~~ Anyway!~ my pkg arrived!! :-) Oh I just want to shove everything aside and play in these fabrics! I should have taken a photo of how nicely it was wrapped, but I was too excited to stop my fingers! LOL They sent along the issue of Fresh Vintage and I have read it from cover to cover~ three times already! :-) So many cute patterns/ideas in it! I'm in love! :-))
In other news~ I stitched on Mr Turkey's feathers last night~ I'm making progress! :-)

And as I was hopping around blogland I saw this post by Rachel at p.s. i quilt. I never thought of plate racks for displaying quilts, but isn't it cool?! How do you display your quilts? My friend was asking me that question just this weekend! I have them on the beds, of course, on the back on the couch, folded at the end of the loveseat, on the tables and hanging from curtain rods. I have this little rod in the hall. It is adjustable~ I can pull out the end to hang a full quilt. Or use the little clips to hang a few... I think I need to dress it up with some ivy or garland! It looks so bare! :-o So tell me~ where do you display your quilts? That's it for now~ I'm off to sew today! I need to finish a few things before I cut into my lovely new fabrics! ;-)

Until next time~

Design Wall Monday~

Wow, these Mondays sure seem to pop up fast! :-) Today's design wall is divided into 2 parts~~~

What is By My Sewing Machine~
I can't show you!! :-)) LOL I am working on my Christmas mini for Bingo~Bonnie in our little swap of mini's. So this is Bonnie's peek....
You can go here to edit photo's like this. ;-) I hope the photo isn't too revealing! :-))

Next~ What is By My Chair~
I am hand stitching! :-o And if you know me, you know I used to be' allergic' to needles. :-)) LOL
I won the pattern and charm pack for this cute turkey wall hanging from Leah at Burgundy Buttons during the Autumn Bloggers Quilt Festival that Amy at Park City Girl hosted. The pattern is called 'Presidential Pardon' by Sandy Gervais and uses the Gobble, Gobble charm pack. So far I have the head, beak and waddle hand stitched down. The tail feathers will get added tonight~ this just shows the outer two, but he will have a full tail. ;-)

Now hop on over to Judy L's blog and see what other quilters are up to! You will find lots of inspiration there!

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

Final Quilted project~

The last thing I quilted on Monday, was the first thing I put the binding on. I am working up to binding the big quilts LOL :-)) It is the October Schnibbles 'Cindy Lou Who'~
I like it much better now that it is quilted! The musical fabric doesn't seem as loud. ;-))
I tried following the idea of the ribbons running through it and quilting long 'skyline' kind of lines. I knew no matter what I did, it wouldn't show very much. And I used a variegated green thread so the quilting really stayed in the background. I tried the 'Dream Green' batting in this one and I'm anxious to wash it and see how it works. Have you tried 'Dream Green'? It was a lot thinner than I thought it would be, but I'm thinking that is good for a table topper. We'll soon see I guess! ;-)

Next up is the binding for the Sudoku~
Until next time~
Happy stitchin'!! :-)

More Quilting Fun~

While out Monday I also quilted this Sudoku throw. I was in a Secret Sister Swap on the HGTV message board a few years ago and my SS sent me the pattern and an assortment of batik FQ's to make this quilt. I immediately got the top together, but then it languished, unquilted. :-( I marked it to quilt on my home sewing machine, but I un-marked it on Sunday and took it along on Monday. :-)) It is quilted with a darker variegated King Tut than I used in yesterday's quilt. The panto is called 'Falling Leaves' and it has a poly batting because I know I'll probably be washing it a bit more than others since it will be on the couch. ;-)

I also got my October Schnibbles quilted. :-) And I'll be back tomorrow with it. ;-)

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

A Quilting Day!

That's right~ yesterday I went quilting! What fun! :-)) I rented an HQ16 from my LQS to get some things quilted. I also played on a Fusion. ;-) And I've rented their Millennium in the past. Fun, fun, fun!

Well, back to yesterday~ first on was my Butterfly Blooms top. I made the top in 2007 but it got put aside when we moved. I needed to get the final borders on, so I finished that last week. I quilted it with a King Tut variegated thread and the Butterflies & Loops panto from Quilting Connection. I used a black 80/20 batting, hoping for no bearding. You can just peek at a corner of the back~ a batik with all colors kind of splashed on it. I don't know when I'll get to binding, but I have the winter! :-) LOL

Tomorrow I'll show you a lap quilt I finally quilted too. ;-)

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

~Sewing~ Sewing~Sewing~

It's that time of year~ chilly and rainy, means lots of sewing time inside! Although I can't show you what I'm working on, I can give a little peek... :-))Lots of little segments~ what will it grow up to be?? :-))

I had a busy week, but learned a new craft! Remember macrame? Did you make plant hangers and tables too? :-) Or am I really dating myself? LOL Well I learned to make these on Thursday~~~

Prayer rosaries. I thought of macrame the whole time! :-) The second one needs the cord trimmed and melted. A group of ladies in my church is making them for 1st Communion students, and for a mission. Something to keep me busy when I don't feel like stitching in the evening. ;-) You know what they say about idle hands! :-) Or was it only my DGM who said that? ;-)

Have a happy week!
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

I Can Show You! :-)

I got an email from Bonnie telling me she got the mini I made for her~ so I can show you now! :-) Whoohoo!

If you remember, we exchanged fall themed mini's. I received mine last week and you can see it here ~I also showed a photo of the back of hers on that post. I was starting to worry about the mail system because I mailed it priority on the 29th! I am so glad she got it!
And here it is~ :-)
Hope you enjoy it Bonnie! :-)
You can click it for a little larger view. I quilted it with all over loop-de-loo's. :-)
We are also going to exchange Christmas mini's, so I need to find a pattern! :-o

Until Next time~

~Design Wall Monday~

It's that time again! Time to 'fess up and admit I didn't get any sewing done last week! :-o
But that doesn't mean I wasn't busy!! ;-) Remember the Halloween kit? I love it so much! but I waffled and waffled on it. :-/ Did I want to do the applique by hand and have it done up in 10 years? (yes, I am that slow at hand stuff!) Did I want to back baste? Did I want to do fusibles? Did I want to do freezer paper to prep the applique pieces ala Kim Diehl's way? Argh! So many ways to applique and what did I really want to do??? I did start tracing the pattern on freezer paper. Then decided there were too many curves and places I would probably mess up with tucking the seam allowances back, so I finally made a decision I will stick with! It's going to be done with fusible applique. I traced. And I traced. Aaannnd I traced! Whew! There are a lot of pieces in this kit! :-) And then I started cutting up the fusible... making little windows so it won't end up stiff. And this is as far as I got. Not quite ready for Halloween. :-)) But I am not putting it up~ I'll continue tracing and fusing in between other 'must do' things until it is finished. I am determined. ;-) Unfortunately, I won't be able to play with it anymore this week as I am going quilting next week and need to get my backings ready! But it's staying out and will get worked on. :-)The photo is all the little windowed pieces for the first third of it. Click the photo if you'd like a closer look~ I know it looks like a mess! But there is method to my madness! ;-)

What did you do last week? Hop on over Judy L's and see what other quilters in blogland are working~

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
