Shoji Screen Birthday Card

I am the luckiest person to receive such a creative project a few months back.  This one is made by Eunice whose blog is A Star for Chiemi found here. Her creative treasure came beautifully package in this box she made. There are better photos of this project on her blog (see her August 16 post).
Unwrapping the box shows a beautiful layer of vellum tissue:
OMG - it is like real Cherry Blossom time in Japan. Note the details of the falling Cherry Blossom scattered along the building wall.
I had to remove this treasure.  The size is 8" x 8".
By pulling the sides, loo what is peeking behind the Shoji screens................
Fully opened: whoo hoo..............a celebration................so cute!
Here's a close-up of the house inside:  Sister Stamp images and hanging lanterns.
A closer look at the Cherry Blossoms............so many of them!
Here's a closer look at the Sister Stamp images........cute, eh? I'm the one in red!!!

Sister Stamps Box Card

From my friend, Gene I got this wonderful box card using the Sister Stamps set called Miyoko holding a cupcake.   This stamp (and others) can be purchased from Hanko Designs here. The box card base is black card stock and Washi paper used on the flaps. There are randomly placed adhesive rhinestones on the center of the flowers  which do not show up in this photo.  There is a cherry branch on the front of the card
Here you can see the box card at an angle:
Here's a closer view of the images.  The flower in her hair has glitter and so does the cupcake icing. I believe there is Pink Wink of Stella is on the cupcake.  Her dress is paper pieced.
Side view showing the inside.  See the acetate to attach the images?
This card folds flat finishing 6-1/2" X 5-1/2" and would look like this: I love how this card is decorated on the underside of the flaps, too. That white cherry blossom flower is quite nice in person.
Thank you for coming by to visit today.

Sister Circle Framed Card

It was a nice surprise to receive this gorgeous card from my great blogger friend:  Eunice. She has her wonderful site A Star for Chiemi found here. I love anything she sends me because everything she sends is so creative and wonderful. Don't you just love this card?  The card base is cut using a heavy weight Gold card stock. The red card stock has a slight rippled texture with some black card stock trim.  Mats are some gorgeous Washi paper .......more details in the next photos:
Check this out: is this the coolest or what?  She found a Roman Circle image that looks Asian to surround the cut circle....................yup, the decorative trim is cut using her cutting machine and the MTC computer program.  I told you this would be cool!
When the card front is opened, it reveals a stamped, colored, cut, and popped up image. This image is from Sister's Stamp called Li-Li with Panda . This Hawaiian stamp company has a blog found here. Be sure to visit the blog for some inspiration. To purchase their extensive selection of Asian stamps, go to Hanko Designs on line shop here.
Here's a closer look at how Li-Li with Panda is colored using Copic pens - don't you love those reddish brown highlights in her hair?
I will cherish this card forever, it is such a inspiration............THANK YOU, Eunice for such a great gift.

Year of he Rabbit Sister Stamp

THIS is the last of the Sister Stamps Zodiac series: the Year of the Rabbit. For this last Zodiac release, I had to make something using RED as the base color.  The Washi paper used is from Hanko Desgns.  White and Red card stock is from Recollections. Flannel-like Flowers are purchased from Stamper's Corner made by CR Trimmings. In fact, Stamper's Corner has the largest selection of wonderful embellishments and charms perfect for card makers and scrap bookers. Each panel is connected with a small red brad.  Red eyelets are used for the top and bottom of the project. A small cord is used to hang the project.  A red rayon tassel from my stash is at the bottom of the project.
Total length is 12" long excluding the tassel:
The first panel has the Rabbit Kanji using Recollections red and white card stock. You can see the felt flowers more clearly in this photo.  The white flowers are made using a small Sakura Flower punch with an adhesive pearl in the center. This section is 4-3/4"
Copic markers used: G07, G21, G24, G99, W1, W4, W5, W6, R29, Y17, E000, R11, R83. yes, the various shades of green grass is using the flicking of the brush end of the marker. The stones are made by depressing the brush end of the marker. Size is 4-1/4".
The Bunny head is stamped separately, then cut and popped with foam squares.
Year of the Rabbit is cut using Recollections red card stock from my Silhouette using Arial Font, welded in the Silhouette program and a shadow (white card stock) made. Size is 3-1/2".
This is the larger Martha Stewart Butterfly punch using Vellum card stock I had in my stash. Finish the butterfly with adhesive pearls:
And, here is the smaller Martha Stewart Butterfly punch and adhesive pearls:
Hope everyone has enjoyed this and all eleven other Zodiac postings.  This is a great series to have for using not just each horoscope year but for other types of cards, too.

Year of the Dragon Sister Stamps

Where has the year gone? It's that time again so are you ready for the Year of the Dragon Zodiac release? This will be one of the last 2 releases of the Sister Stamps Zodiac series.  So I wanted to make this card with my favorite colors: Red and Gold. card style is a easel card but it is using acetate for the face of the card.  Kelly Gold card stock paper and Recollections Red card stock used. Randomly placed Gold coins from my stash show through the acetate easily.
The acetate folds up easily shown  here:
The Dragon Kanji is a theme that has been kept throughout my Sisters Stamps Zodiac series. In order to emphasize the year, it is cut using SCAL with Recollections Red card stock along with the Gold Kelly paper.  Adding red Stickles really made it pop. Attach the Dragon Kanji with adhesive dots onto the acetate.
Dragon is stamped using Momento Black Tuxedo ink on Neenah White card stock. Copic colors used: R29, R39, YR09, Y38, Y19, E44, E34, W4, W5
The popped up frame frame is a Silhouette cut file from their on line store called "Decorative Frame Shape". It has been re-sized to 1-3/4" x 3" with a computer generated message using Chow Fun font on White card stock.
Side view:

Stay tuned and come back tomorrow to see the Year of the Rabbit project.

Year of the Rat Sister Stamps

Today is the 2nd day for the Sister Stamps Zodiac Release Year of the Rat. The frame used on the card is from the Silhouette on Line Library Asian Frame. Papers used: Washi paper from Hanko Designs, Recollections Blue, White, Black card stock, Stampin Up Brocade Blue Card Stock. The Cuttlebug Asian Embossing Folder also used for the small front panel.

Pull up the lantern panel which slides up to reveal the computer generated message:
Copic colors used: Black 110, R81, R00, W1, W3, W5,
First, stamp the image, color the bottom image and color top image - eliminating the tail and left ear. Then pop with foam squares to create this look. Then pop the entire image with foam squares.
Rat Kanji SVG made using SCAL computer program. Ovals are made also using SCAL library basic shapes. Easy to customize the Kanji and the ovals to fit perfectly.
To make this basic card:
(1) 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored on the 8-1/2" side @ 4-1/4" (I actually used my machine to cut this since there was a 3 sided opening on the card front). The 3 sided opening depends on the image or frame being used for the card.  The opening can be cut using a craft knife or cutting machine.  Note: the following measurements are based on the frame size used.
(1) 4" x 5-1/4" Frame (opening is 2-1/2" x 3-1/2")
(1) Washi mat (opening is 2-1/2" x 3-1/2")
(1) 3-1/2" x 5" white card stock
(1) 3-1/2" x 1-3/4" Brocade Blue card stock - embossed
(1) 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" white card stock with printed message

CC Designs Line of Lanterns Cling Stamp and Chinese Lanterns Die. Color two of the lanterns using Copic B26, B23, B32. Use the Copic colors to color the tassels on the lanterns, too.
Adhere the 2-1/2" X 3-1/2" message onto the front:
Add sticky tape to these pieces:
After adhering the front frame and washi, cut out both the front and back of the card as shown.
Position the 3-1/2" X 1-3/4"  embossed panel as shown (front view with card front lifted up):

OR Slide the 3-1/2" X 1-3/4" panel underneath the front tongue as shown. Remove sticky tape on the 3-1/2" X 1-3/4" panel.
Place the 3-1/2" x 5" panel on top: be sure to line up the top of the card to the top of the panel
Last step is to remove sticky tape from the card front and secure.
