CATCHING UP

Well...hello there friends!

Yes.....December came and went and I have to tell you that it was a hard month.  Something about the holidays make me sad.  I think it could be many things but probably missing my sister.

But hey....everyone struggles at some time or another so we have to just keep moving forward!

I made a trip out to Boulder to visit family!  I had not been anywhere since last May when I went to Nantucket.

Always anxious to leave Cami and sure enough she got sick while I was gone but my dog sitter [who lives in my neighborhood] took her to the emergency vet and all was well.  Of course they never get sick during the daytime......right.

I was starting to think Boulder was cursed for me as I was there when my husband left me and when I got the news that my sister was going into hospice.

We made a trip to Vail for 2 nights!

So much fun!

I was happy to see this little bugger when I got home!

Before I left I had a small porch install for a friend who was having a party.

I added a bigger wall sconce and some texture with the large planters!

Below is the old one.....

Below is another before....

And the after...new rug and pillows plus a different table in between the chairs.

All the plants were refreshed which made a big difference!

Another before below....the new pillows which I found on Etsy also helped to give it a more cohesive look....

I also like the larger outdoor light from Currey and Co.

And there you have it....this was in late November:)

I am not even going to say that I will be better....cause it never fails that I don't.  So let's keep the expectations low...and maybe we will be surprised:)

As always thanks for reading and just so you know....Blogger will not send out blogs anymore so that's that.

It's always something....right!

AUGUST.....

So where have I been...not really anywhere since my trip to Nantucket in May but I have been busy working!

I do have to say that August is not a fun time for me because some crappy things happened in that month.  In 2019 my husband of 27 years walked out on me and 2 years later my youngest sister passed away after a 5 month battle with lung cancer.

I know....both kind of sucky things to go through....

I have realized that literally.....my design work has saved my life.  It keeps me busy so that when I want to crawl into bed and not get up....I really can't.

The thing about life is that it goes on and tomorrow is a new day...and the next day and so on!

So back to August and what has been happening!

I have been helping a client near Hilton Head so that gave my sister [the bunny] and I a chance for a girls trip!  I have to tear her away from her grand daughter...

My brother lives there so we stayed with him and I love walking around his community!

I went to an amazing stone place called Savannah Surfaces!  They had samples of every tile that you have ever heard of....wish we had a place like that in Atlanta!

I started a basement for some good friends of mine and we found a great color!  SW Slate Tile

And....we did a cool plaid sofa!  Think....70's style!

But....for the first time in my career I ordered some chairs with the wrong fabric on them!

I wish someone had a camera on my face when they arrived.  Not a good moment. Cue: shock...and nervous laughter.

They are now getting recovered.

We worked on my nieces house and got her laundry room and the powder room wallpapered....

She loved the gray check I did on my last project so we used it for her!  Its Anna French.

My nieces fun backsplash in her kitchen....

Cami turned 10 and I am not happy about it.  I mean I am glad she is here to turn 10 but every day I think it's her last.  My sense of dread is over-exaggerated these days.....

Started my long times clients living room...and I think it will be a stunner....

OK....we have kind of caught up.  It has been a very busy summer and I have a few other things to share but we will leave that one for September:)

It is not quite "sweater weather" here yet but hopefully soon....

Y'all be good.....

RIVERMONT DENTAL REVEAL

There is an upside to not blogging regularly and that is I have a backlog of content for you:)

Meaning.....I have another reveal...before and after for you today!  This was actually a commercial project that I completed before Christmas and I have to tell you that it was a labor of love!  I had a huge gallery wall to put together and Rose and I shopped relentlessly for the art.

I can tell you that it was very hard to part with most of it and that many of the pieces I found "as is" meaning I did not re-frame.  I did change out a few mats here and there.

Here is where we started....that huge wall is the first thing you see when entering the office.

Here is what it looked like the day of the install....a very rainy day [and I had to carry in all these bins of art which was NOT FUN].

The counter tops had not been installed and the trim was still missing.  But the installer was booked so we had to carry on!

Check out the floors from Mill and Woods.  The herringbone is amazing!

Here we are trying to decide the gallery wall...it ain't easy folks!  I gotta tell ya:)

But after a few auditions I think we nailed it and he started hanging.....

This is a dental office and she added shelves in them so you would have something pretty to look at while they torture you...just kidding...not...

Here are some detail shots...

The reception.....countertop!

The beautiful trim....

The floors....

The Currey and Co chandelier....

The coffee station....

The bathroom......

Arteriors pendant.....

Before the curtains were installed!

After......

She gave me full control over the art and that was so freeing.....I also think that you can do a better job when clients do that!

Dr. Shima Shahrokhi is amazing and we had so much fun collaborating on this project....she had a very clear vision!

Hope you guys are having a good Sunday....it's cold as heck here in Atlanta today,

In other news...Cami is having a little nappy...

And I scored this vintage Bill Blass....made in Italy...cashmere coat at a thrift event for $15.00

Hot Damn people!
