ATLANTA HOMES AND LIFESTYLES

Sometimes you open a magazine and there is a hushed feeling that comes over you.  This happened to me recently when I saw this article in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles featuring Ryan Hughes home.

What a story of how it takes a village to create a masterpiece.

Hopefully you remember how I have talked about my friend Pam Sessions from Hedgewood Homes and a community called Manchester .  I have another friend who bought in this same pocket neighborhood here in Buckhead, Atlanta.

Here is the story....see if you can stay with it.....

Ryan was Pam's intern way back.....
He worked at a showroom at ADAC.
About 9 years ago he opened his own showroom in Midtown.

Fast forward to about 3 or so years ago....moving his showroom to ADAC and people it's a doozy.

In a really good way.  No....in the best way.  Just walking through the doors gives me a rush of inspiration that is hard to explain.  Cutting edge lighting, furniture and accessories.

The story is that he called on some of the most talented in the industry.....friends of his.... to give him the best of the best....

He called on Bobby McAlpine to redraw the floor plan moving the dining area to the back of the space.

Susan Ferrier to help with the furniture arrangement....

Nashville designer Chad James gave great design advice and designer Barbara Westbrook helped with antiques  giving the space some always needed patina....

Y'all.....if you know me then you will see how much I love the neutral tones of this space and all of the texture.

And of course there are glorious pops of color to keep things from getting too neutral....[can that be haha]

This Kelly Wearstler wallpaper had me so hard.  I'm not gonna lie and with touches of gray and cream I just about died.

The moody tones of the guest room has me hankering to change up some things around "casa Sherika".

If you haven't been to his showroom I have a few shots from a recent stroll through it...

This light fixture.....

Wallpaper!

I'm in love with the concept of this coffee table....

This Zak and Fox wallpaper.

Look....this is definitely High Design.....I get it.

But.....there is so much inspiration and as a designer this is definitely what I want.....a spark to help step outside of the comfort zone of what we do.  I am here to push if you will let me.

Crikey one week until Christmas....WTH.....

THIS AND THAT

Lately I have made going to showhouses my job.

I posted about Kips Bay Palm Beach and yesterday I toured the Atlanta Holiday Showhouse.

But..... I'm going to give y'all a break today and just ramble about nothing until your eyes start to bleed.

After all it's the Holiday Season and I will probably have your attention for a hot minute so let me make it about me right?

Last night I dragged myself out in traffic [those that know me will realize that was pretty epic] to help a good designer friend Jennifer Shoenberger celebrate her home on the cover of Atlanta Magazine's Home!

I'm now obsessed with pink and red together!  Isn't she fabulous:)

 My tribe!

Crikey why didn't I at least put some lipstick on?

Hahahahaha....almost the same look.  I think I am 6 here.

I have been to her crib and it is gorgeous!

Remember when I posted about shopping all over the place in Atlanta last week?  Well here was the result of my pillow collection for a client.

Over at my Manchester project we finally  got the rug!
 I'm digging it!

And picked up this cool modern end table.

Pillows were installed......

Another project got this awesome Emtek door hardware.....swoon.

And the bathrooms are coming along nicely.

Oh yeah....there was that one "tear out" before they got it right.  Yikes.

I finally calmed down about the SW Pure White when I found some pretty backsplash tile.

I binged this new show from Amazon

Such a favorite....a comedy, with fashion and beautiful sets!

Cami looking all pretty:)

Blah blah blah.....I think that's about it for today.  I am going to torture myself at Barry's Bootcamp again.

My hope is to get a wreath on the door this week.  Let's see how that works out.

A DESIGN STORY

So much going on this week!

Don't get me wrong..... I am aware that everyone's life is probably crazy also but the amount of things that went awry was epic.  Lost fabrics, fabrics being sent to the wrong place, back orders and so on.

#decoratorproblems

But..... I'm here to say that a few things went right.  I tried to order a coffee table but I couldn't find it on the website any more......so I did what any dogged designer would do and found it at an online store.

All good right?  Nope.  A few days later there was the dreaded email that it had been discontinued and they were sending me a full refund.

What?  No!  Unacceptable.

I couldn't let it go.....now I had convinced myself it was the perfect coffee table and it was this one or nothing.

I happened to remember that this vendor has a local store here in Georgia.....so I placed a call to inquire if they had one on the floor.  She said no but a truck had just come in and she would call me back.

Lawd......guess what?  There was one on the truck and since it was discontinued she gave it to me 1/2 price.

Can you believe it?

It was my client/friend's birthday weekend.  Happy freaking birthday gurrrrrrrl.

But wait.....it gets better.  Part 2 of the "things went right" story.

This is the dining room table.  We need chairs and seriously I have looked everywhere for something that was #1 reasonably priced and #2 the perfect chair.  Again with the perfection.....

Here were some of the contenders.

I saw these at Dixon Rye and realized I wanted black.

So I found these on Ballard's website which I liked.....
Then I saw these and got all sweaty!  Loved!

But heck.....the price was up there with the national debt.  No Bueno.

Another one that I saw at the Furniture Market. And 764 others.

You might be thinking that I obsess this hard for every client....well yes I do but this one happens to be my friend so I felt it was my duty to "find the deal".

If you're still with me....here is where the story gets good!  I was on my way to pick up the coffee table and decided to swing by the Ballard Outlet just for grins.

They were having a 40% sale and thought "what if I find 6 chairs" [slim chance].....but came around the corner and saw these.....

OK.....so she loves mid century modern.....these are definitely mid century but more traditional.  I sent her this text....which was actually just a courtesy because I already had the hold tag on them.

So I furiously sent her 10 pictures [from pinterest] of these chairs shown in a dining room situation.  Then.... I discovered that they were 60% off [126.00 ea] and at that point there was nothing she could say to prevent me from getting them.

Happy Birthday Melissa:)

And that is how a hard week actually turned into a good week.

PROJECT UPDATE

Hola chickadees! It has been a busy week here at Sherry Hart Designs.  Lot's of installing so I thought I would catch you up on the details.

I think you remember my Manchester project? Another post here. We ordered all the lighting back in April and yesterday it was all installed.  For a designer that is an exciting day:)

This Arteriors beauty was the last one picked out.  We struggled with the fixture to go over the DR table but this one gave her the glam she asked for!  It did not disappoint.....
Below is the table.

All the furniture just off the truck!

These going up the stairs!

For this bathroom...

This great light.  Very reasonable price point and I like the white glass as it won't show dust like clear glass does!

These Circa beauties in the master bath!

The wallpaper went up in the master.

And both of us had a moment when these were installed over the island!

With these barstools.....

And this fabric for the window treatments

I called my painter to come paint the pantry black!
Next up is styling that beauty!

This are the sconces in the powder bath. [One on each side]  Wallpaper soon!

I need to order one of these for myself!

And look how I circled it back to me:)
I'm having some art framed for my dining room.....

And this is finally happening on my sofa.....I've only had the fabric for 2 years!

It's harder to do things around here with my retired husband watching my every move haha.

Lord I remember the good old days when I could totally rearrange the whole room and add new pillows and he would not even notice:)
