ANOTHER MADISON UPDATE [YEP]

Isn't this the season where I should be sharing gift guides?  Well.....you really can't count on me for that because it would require planning:)

Let's see....my plan.....wakeup and try to be positive.  That's a start right?  I'm working on it.....

I got some news about a week ago that rocked my world.  Let's just say this....you live with someone for 30 years and then you think WTH.....who was he....I mean was everything a lie?  I heard a quote from.....I think Maya Angelou..... that was "when people show you who they are....believe them".  I guess I am a slow learner....or just too trusting.

So I am trying to come to grips and will admit it has set me back a little.

Anyway....I don't want to whine about my
crap cause we all have something to deal with right?  I mean....pandemic?

About a month ago I posted about some final [ha who am I kidding] updates to the Madison project....[not the Christmas decor post] but I forgot a few spaces so since I'm desperate for content today.....let's just go there so I can check the "blog post" box today:)

I searched forever to find a little chest for the closet area in the guest room....I wanted something old.

I stumbled across this one in a consignment....and bingo!

I love the fancy frame around this original art [dobwinart on Instagram] and then I found the "chippy bowl" at another consignment shop that was a perfect addition!

The little chair that was where the chest is now moved into the bathroom by the tub....to hold towels!

Another small change was having the cushions recovered on this chair to something more textural.
And of course I added a pillow:)

Let's head over to the "barn bedroom".....

I added the vintage andirons in the FP.

And a piece of art to this gallery wall!

And I found this lumbar pillow at Scott's and scarfed it right up!  I knew it would be perfect.

As I always say....at least in my world..... it's all about the layers.  And making sure there is the proper amount of patina in a room....you want to make sure it doesn't look like a furniture showroom.....

That's just me but after 25 years at this I think it's a good formula :)

You know what a good client is?

That I don't have to stop and call about every little treasure I find for a room....that they trust me.  I mean isn't that why you hire a designer?  Surely you can go out and buy the basics like furniture but I think you hire a designer to give it a unique look.....just my 2 cents:)

I hope you all have a good weekend.....I am actually headed to Madison tomorrow for the night to help decorate the tree and enjoy some Christmas festivities with my neighbors.  Anne will probably cook an amazing dinner and I will pick on Todd just enough so that he knows I still love him....haha

And.....Emily [their daughter] and I will trade sarcastic comments about life situations!

Bless my neighbors as they have been incredible since my husband left me.

CHRISTMAS AT MADISON

Last week Rose and I drove down to Madison to do a little Christmas decorating!  I had dinner with my neighbors and might have had a couple too many....while blurting out "hey why don't I go down and do a little decorating at the farm?"

Well they latched on to that like a tick and since I won't do any decorating at my own house.....I decided to make good on my word:)

We did have fun and even though I thought I had way too much stuff.....we discovered I did not have enough!

I took a few pictures that I thought I would share today.

After searching Pinterest I had this great idea to do a Hot Chocolate Station...

Within five minutes I had stuffed my face with one of everything:)

The she texted me and asked if it was a plot to make her fat since apparently she did the same thing.

I told her she needed to use some self control....that it was for her guest:)

I didn't plan on setting the table but these little stockings from Target were so cute......

Her Bennington Pottery had just arrived and it looked cute as we just stuffed a napkin in with a sprig of faux berries!

We picked up the faux fur trees at Joanns but they looked a little plain so we cut red ribbon and pinned it on top.

We quickly snapped all of the pictures....so I apologize if they aren't perfectly styled....:)

Found the gray stockings at Joanns and the white ones at Homegoods....

If you remember from the last Madison post I had split up a leather sofa and chair.....also here is the red rug in the room opposite of the really colorful one.  All I added here was a plaid pillow.

Pillow and plaid blanket here!

The main house guest bathroom got a Christmas pillow....

I found the rug at Target but I can't find it online anywhere!

The little wreath from Joanns looks so real!  I actually ordered one for myself!

Not much in the guest rooms....but I did add a small Christmas tree and a bowl of candy:)

And there you have it....probably the only Christmas decorating I will do this year!

I hope everyone enjoys some time off with their families.....What a year right?  I mean....whew.

Cami and I will be here snuggled up on the couch watching The Crown.  Just finished The Queens Gambit and really enjoyed it!

Happy Thanksgiving

MADISON UPDATE

Look at me being all responsible.....it's Monday afternoon and I am starting this post so I can finish it tomorrow morning.  Don't say I don't love you guys:)

Tomorrow I have to close on a small piece of property that I acquired in my divorce [it's not signed yet but close] so I have to leave my house early.

Anyway I don't think I have shared the family room at the farm in Madison.  I believe I last showed you the sectional that was delivered....

Let's review so you don't have to go back to the post!

They had the rug so instead of bringing out the red....I decided to stick with blue accents.....pillows.

In my humble opinion since the rug is busy I needed to calm everything else down.  Using a light color on the sectional [performance] and some black and white pillows.....

I looked everywhere for a coffee table and I wanted round just for a different shape.....

So happy when I found this one!

OK....I was humming along with this post and my neighbor called saying she didn't have any water.  I ran over with the "curb" thing which you can open the meter lid with and we managed to figure out what the problem was!  I say we..... as her daughter stuck her hand in murky mud water so that we could find the  valve.  I was most impressed because she would have gone without water if it was up to me:)

That......of course called for a glass of wine in celebration.....So of course I never finished this post last night:)

Here is the before of the TV wall.  I needed to find a longer console as this situation was not working:)

Love the lighter color of this one....

Now to accessorize.....

You might remember that I found all of these beautiful art books at a flea market....the client is an art historian.

Originally in this room there was a leather sofa AND leather chair.  I broke those babies up!  I put the sofa in the front room.....just too much leather for my taste!  [clearing throat.....design tip]

Moving into the dining room.....

The rug was delivered and we added some cream curtains....they are ready made from Pottery Barn....

The rug is performance from Couristan called Curacao in pewter.

This pretty owl by Jane Ingols

Beautiful chairs from Charles Stewart in a Schumacher fabric!

Wall color is SW Black Fox

Light fixture is from Rejuvenation.

The table was hand made and I love the iron base!

They will spend so much time here....and now it's comfortable!

It was purchased maybe 3 years ago....we zhushed it a little.....then the renovation began last year and after 2 stages it is finally finished!  Of course I am sure there are still "ticks" on the property....haha.
