BEFORE AND AFTER

Well hello strangers....

I know.  In fact I have run into people who have mentioned they weren't receiving my blog and I thought...."well maybe that is because I am a loser" and I have been very lazy.

I blog all the time in my head at night...literally whole conversations with y'all and then.... well morning....and my ADD sets in....and all hell breaks loose.

So instead of sitting here and making excuses like I am a six year old and did not do my homework how about I just get on with it:)

Before I went to Highpoint [first time since 2019] I did an install for a long time client.  Her son got engaged and she wanted to freshen up a room over the garage.  It had kind of been a dumping ground of left over furniture [we have all been there] but she was ready to make it nice!

This is the before....we had cleared out everything we weren't using and I picked up these chairs from Scott's.  I was on a quick time frame here so I did not have time to order furniture!  These chairs are well made and actually a copy of a Lee Industries chair I have used many times before.....

We decided on blue and camel...it's classic and timeless and easy to find accessories to go with....right!

I had my rug bring over about 4 different rugs that I pick out and this was a contender but in the end we decided on the one below!

It was a little richer that the other one.....

I found the coffee table off the floor and all the accessories!

I ordered the blinds at Select Blinds just to warm up the space....

She had the sofa already which was definitely a bonus!

There was a desk in the dormer but I wanted to dress that up a little also....

We found an old dining room chair in the attic and I had the seat recovered.

This might be her space now:)

She is a great client....and every time I would send her a picture of something  she would always say OK!  That is why I was able to get it done so fast!

I love what I do so much and when I am done it's like a drug when I get that praise!  I had my trusted and talented Rose with me and I value her opinions so much!  Plus it is so much more fun to do it together!

BEFORE AND AFTER

OK....so I have a small before and after for you today.  You might have seen on Instagram but I can give you a few details....and lets face it.....you like a pretty picture but in the end you want to know the why and how...am I right?

A long time client wanted some things zhushed before having company.  Oh...and one other small detail....I had about 6 weeks to get it done!

I already posted one bedroom a few months ago so there was one more room and some shelves to do.  I am always up for the task of styling shelves!

Let's start with the before.  I did not change out the bed, lamps, nightstands or the rug!

Here is the after.  I ordered the bench.  It is by Uttermost but I changed out the fabric.  That is an easy fix for sure. It added some nice pattern at the foot of the bed.

New pillows [custom] and a bedspread from HomeGoods that warmed it up!

I had her take most of the things off the shelves.....and was happy that they  were adjustable!

We [ Rose] took one out completely to give some breathing room!  Propped up some books he had and added the baskets at the bottom for texture.

A few HG's items completed the look....

The chest did not have anything on it so we found a few photographs that were already there and hung them.  Then a faux fern and some books.....

In the other room I had already had this small entrance wallpapered but had not done anything to the shelves!  I had her take most of it out and it got a little makeover!

So much better don't cha think?

Small changes and big impact.  I am always up for that challenge:)

Stay tuned for the reveal of the family room and guest room.

Also I have a really fun project coming up and I am excited to say that we painted the walls green!

This is the wallpaper that is going on the unpainted part over the cabinets....

This one might take a while since we are ordering furniture but I will keep you posted on the progress!

Alrighty then...Rose and I are leaving for Highpoint tomorrow so stay tuned for lots of stories and my fav design trends!

CATCHING UP

Well I sure left you guys hanging.....you know what....finding free time when you have to do everything yourself is challenging.

Like house maintenance, insurance....taxes and all that crap.

I am here to tell you it is overwhelming sometimes and I just want to close down.  But I am trying to get back on track and set things up to happen automatically.

Somebody was trying to tell me I needed another dog and I almost fell for it and then I came to my senses.  Are you kidding me?  That would be the worst thing for me to do right?

I really am going to try and be better.  How I managed to blog 2xs a month is beyond me!

I got a new phone the other day and Lord almighty.

Talk about a time suck.  You know how they are at Apple....they give you your package and send you on your way with all but a quick pat on the rear saying "you got this kid".

And let me just say.....I do not consider myself helpless in technical situations....but this little puppy took some time to migrate and half the apps wouldn't work and blah blah blah.

I also got a desk top computer and that little monster is still sitting in the box because if the phone gave me that much trouble....I need to be in the right frame of mind to tackle it.  So it can just sit in "time out" right now.

Anyway enough complaining. I do have a very small project to share with you:)

Before you gasp...cause its color!  The blue fabric is a long lumbar and the pretty pink swirl fabric are 2 pillows in chairs.....

This is a girls bedroom....and I went totally old school here and did a cornice!  I can not remember the last time I did this but I love it!

I don't have pictures of the bedding yet but we are using some really pretty linens with Chinese red trim and a 12" monogram on the shams...

In other news I received the chairs from Charish....and I am not completely happy because they were in much worse shape than they admitted.

There was a lot of this going on......

Which wasn't exactly disclosed but I got my guy working on them and by the time that beautiful mohair goes on and he does a little magic I think things will be fine.  They better be.....

So there you have it...not exactly the blog post of dreams but it's a start.

I am really trying to dig myself out of this slight depression....it will be 6 months since my sister died next Friday and my emotions are all over the place.

I am aware that it takes time so I am trying to be patient.....

BEFORE AND AFTER "ANNIES PLACE"

I am so glad you enjoyed the showhouse pictures....
Even if some of the rooms are not your style you can always find a bit of inspiration!

A few months ago my friend Michael Ladisic asked me to help with his daughters new condo that he was renovating....must be nice to have a Dad that is a contractor:)

Y'all remember when I helped another daughter with her place.....he has 4 so I figure I have 2 more to go!

Anyway she is a Midwife and works long hours at a time....but another thing about Annie is she is big on recycling and using "found" items!  Which of course thrills me as I do not feel like everything needs to be new.  In fact when we were renovating my sisters kitchen we gave her the fridge as it was not that old!

So let's start the story....

Here are some pictures from the first time I went over there.....

The chairs came from her Mom and they had already collected a few pieces of furniture....

Also Rose and I decided that since it was such a long room that some shelves behind the sofa [which she bought from the Goodwill for 100.00] would help cozy up the place since there needed to be easy access to the patio doors....

The floors were stained cement and it was decided to get a huge piece of sisal and layer on a smaller rug to define the seating area....

Before

When we got there....she had put some things up on the shelves....but we did have creative liberty and Rose and I had visited some small flea markets to grab a few things we thought would look good in the room.....

Before

There was a lot of stuff we had to weed through to decide what would work and what wouldn't.  It is a small place so we had to be very thoughtful with the accessories and furniture.

Here are a few before and afters.....

The only things that are new on the shelves were a few faux plants....

Here are a few detail shots.....

The floral pillow was from Homegoods....

The rug was also from Homegoods....

Now let's go to the other side of the room.....

We removed one of the lamps as the console was too small for both.....then we organized some of her art grabbing the black and white ones.....

Threw a faux olive tree from Target in the planter to help that corner.....

Rose and I found that vase at the flea market and at first we thought it might be too colorful but it was good with all the art work being neutral and helped to bring a little of the colors from the other side of the room!

Even thought the small bench was gray and was a little pale for the space....layering the darker throw on it really helped!

See below before the bar cabinet was installed....and I am not sure why it looks so green in the picture above!

We found the vintage bird pictures and I had the bench that I did not use in another project.  We actually did not have much left to work with when we accessorized the bar and they were also kicking around the idea of what to do on the back of the bar.....

We spent a little time zhushing the kitchen.....

I am sure you can tell this is my favorite thing to do!  Rose and I LOVE shopping for vintage/used accessories to help a room look more curated and "used".....

Tonight I am going to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens with some friends.....it's rare that I go out really but I need to make that effort.

Hope you are all enjoying the Holiday Season....

Thanks for reading....

Sherika
