DESIGN PLAN

How is everyone doing this Holiday Weekend?  Or should I say WHAT is everyone doing?

Me.....not much.  Preparing for my vacation up to Nantucket on Friday.  You know who I am going to miss?  Yup.....if you guessed Cami then you're the winner.

I am trying to get all my clients in a good place before I leave because I just want to enjoy myself and take in all the beauty of Nantucket!  My neighbor said she is looking forward to it because she gets some kind of thrill when she bosses me around.....:)

Back to design....I ordered this settee for my client.

I wasn't there when it was delivered but she sent me pictures.  Let me back up....this was going to be in her kitchen dining area where they would eat casually.  After I saw the picture....I made the comment that it looked too small.  Well.....when will I learn to shut my mouth before I see something in person.

Probably never.

It was actually the angle of her pics and after I went over to see it.....I was very relieved.  BUT.....before that I figured out another place it could go so I did a  board for her.

She has a junior master upstairs....yeah I had never heard that term before but that is what the architect had called it!

Anyway it is quite a large room with amazing light.  We already ordered the bed which just arrived and my suggestion was to put the settee across the bed.  We could create a little moment with a small side table and some cute pillows.....always some cute pillows:)

But as I said after I got there it was fine where it was and well her husband liked it so there is that!  It just looked funny because it wasn't styled up!  Duh.....everything needs some styling right!

So we started thinking about chairs and I came up with a few suggestions!

#1 was a grey wishbone chair....pretty basic but classic.  I think she was leaning towards that one but I pushed against it.  They just don't look comfy to me!

#2 a little more modern with arms

#3 more modern with out arms

#4 is a softer look and not as harsh as the 2 modern ones....which was.....drum roll please....the winner!  Hard to tell but the fabric is nice on them.....

She already has the table and light fixture.  We are actually putting everything back against the window in the room for a more casual look.

And I just spent 10 min looking for a picture of the window....so you will have to use your imagination:)

I also did a board for her husbands office....

Well everything is ordered and should arrive sometime in 2022....haha.

As you can see....be both have the same taste...leaning towards neutrals so it all works for me.

Also I wanted to share the link to my friend Mary Ann's blog Classic Casual Home.  She did a post featuring my house and I am so honored!

I hope everyone enjoys a 3 day weekend!  I appreciate you guys SO much for always hanging with me:)

BEFORE AND AFTER

News flash....we are finally having fall weather in Atlanta.  Whew I was worried for a while.

Before we get right into it I am so excited to share this news with you.  My nephew [Taylor] and his wife are having a baby.  If you have been reading my blog for a while.....you might remember he lived with me for 3 years while he went to Georgia Tech and when he moved out it was a very dark day.

I don't know how you Mom's do it....let your kids go...... cause it sure didn't sit well with me.

Anyway I also decorated his apartment here in Atlanta....

And then he moved back to Chicago to marry the girl of his dreams.

Are they the cutest!

Now he is looking for houses in Glen Ellyn a suburb outside of Chicago.  If you know of a good one let me know:)

He keeps sending me listings....and what is so funny is that because I am in the profession of design and can be a little judgmental about the subject I have to laugh at some of the decorating!  Lord.....it's crazy!  I see some trips to Chicago for some renovating and decorating in the future:)

If you follow me on Instagram then you might have seen this already.

I posted a while back about which art piece to buy for this project....and you chose this one.  Only problem was it was going to take too long to get so I had my friend Kristin paint it!  And just so you know....it was a reproduction so now she has an original!

Winning!

We love it!!!

She had two of these chairs from her Mom and we recovered them....

This project is almost finished.....

Dining room before

A clean palette now!  Love the Currey and Co chandelier.

We installed shiplap half way up and added some Thibaut wallpaper.

There was a lot of wood in this space so the sideboard was painted.

Mirror from Wisteria

A pretty new rug from Surya

Added curtains

Added some texture with the Ballard rattan chairs.

This art was a wedding gift and it worked nicely with the room.

I used the wood charger for some more texture under this orchid.

 Light and bright now!

Perfect space for a young family as this is their main dining area....so it gets used everyday.

Y'all I need one more day to add to this week to get everything done!  2 Wednesdays would work:)

I love everyone of you.

PUTTING TOGETHER A DINING ROOM

I think I mentioned I am mid stream in all my projects and I am not kidding.....

Last week I was working on a dining room and it should be a slam dunk.  White walls.....no furniture.....a blank slate!  That sounds easy but the possibilities are endless.

Since the room is square we are going with a round 72" table which was recently purchased.

There was no way to raise the ceiling but were able to put in this cove and we covered it in wallpaper to highlight the beautiful Circa Lighting chandelier.

I don't have a full picture of the table but here a picture of the top.

There is a small problema.....square room.... round table....so a rectangular rug is "no bueno". Which means a custom size.  [Whispered cuss words]

Y'all just so you don't think this is all a slam dunk in decision making...... this room took a lot of thought and research!

I started with chairs.....I always go with easy first.

After measuring all of them for height and width a few were eliminated.  We decided that a taller chair would actually work better for the room.

We were leaning towards the last one [the only one we could completely customize] with perhaps a dark ebony finish and a cool fabric. Maybe add some nail heads for a little glitz.

Because of this large 4ft x 6ft art that is going on the only wall without a door or opening...

I opted for some gray silk curtains with gold hardware for the set of french doors.

There is not much prettier than gray and white in my opinion....

Now the hard part.

The rug.

So before I put together the plans I was still thinking that a 10 x 12 would work [I can be stubborn like that] but after I was there and we drilled down on the measurements we came to the conclusion that it would in fact need to be a custom 12 x 12.

Rats.

So these next design boards belong in the trash.....

BUT.....it sure was fun. All rugs came from Loloi

And there you have it.....I'm on the hunt to find the perfect rug so I will keep you updated!

I went to a little get together the other night and brought the snacks so I put together my version of the "poo poo" platter:)

If you look closely you are going to see some friends hanging around

Josh was determined to drink my wine.....

Some answers to questions on the before and after.  The fabric for the pillows on the couch is Sarah Richardson for Kravet.  The other pillows came from Target and the lumbar pillow from Homegoods.  The rug came from Myers Carpet here in Atlanta.

There was also a question about Lee Industries furniture.  It is sold in many retail stores so I am sure you can go on their website to get a list of local places.

And that's a wrap guys!
