SPRING FASHION

So I got roped into a spring fashion post...and I don't mean that in a bad way....just a "put off until the last minute way" Ha Ha.

Spring in Georgia can last a month or 2 days.  No kidding......

If you want to wear cute linen jackets and light sweaters you better not save anything cause it will be 90 degrees before you know it.

The reason I like spring and summer clothes is that they are usually less expensive and I don't mind buying something trendy....as I will rarely keep it for a long time like I do with wool or nicer items.

Sunday I tried on so many outfits that by the end my hair was a mess and because I am not a type A personality I just went with it....

First up is this cute sundress which I pared with a thrifted mens suit jacket!  I probably won't get much wear out of it because it will be too hot for the jacket soon.....and you know...my old arms might scare somebody:)

Then I got a wild hair and decided to cut off some denim that I had gotten really cheap at Gap a few years ago!

I was being really "fashion designery" and decided to leave a big cuff....not sure what I was thinking but it seemed to dress them up a little:)

The jean jacket is old Target and I thrifted the stripe sweater.  I got the sneakers a while back!

I have had this shirt forever [Banana Republic] and it has little lemons on it which I adore....The sweater is from Quince and I got the sandals from TJ Maxx!

Love it with my navy thrifted jacket and stripe shirt....what is more classic right?

I mean let's dress it up a little!  The stripe sleeveless top is from H&M and the shirt was thrifted.  The sandals are Dolce Vita

The top is from H&M...pretty recent and the shoes are also Dolce Vita.

Below are some past OOTD post that are still a current look in my opinion....look around in your closet...I bet you can recreate all of these looks!

Even on days when I am not seeing clients I still like to make my casual clothes a little presentable:)

Below are some basics that I put together for you!  I linked everything on my Like To Know It

You are in luck today because my good friends are joining me.....you are going to have plenty of inspiration!

So check out what they have to say about Spring Fashion!

FASHION POST....WHITE DENIM

Hola Design Indulgence readers....well the few that are left anyway:)

I am once again joining this elite group of fashion queens that blog on the regular and you are in luck!

We are going to discus white denim.....

Now I don't know about y'all but I can't do without at least dozen pairs of white jeans...meaning I am always getting stains on them and of course every year they come out with a new length that we must have!

I am going to confess to you that I did not have the energy to try one a million looks so I am grabbing some of my #OOTD pictures in which I am wearing white denim and sharing with you!

So here is the deal....I live in Atlanta and we can almost wear white denim year around.

As you can see in these pictures I were a lot of WHITE DENIM!

I love to pair it with black, camel and blue!

As you can see I will also cut the hem and actually make shorts from older pair.....

I think you need the following:

skinny leg
flair
demi boot leg
wide leg
boot cut

They have great ones at Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and J Crew.  I used to spend more on denim than I do now but you could go broke buying premium denim because it seems like anything goes.....length....high waisted....mid-waist and so on.

My favorite Demi crop boot leg are these  and I wait for them to be on sale!

I think they are really flattering and the perfect length. These are the ones I wear the most....

Here is a little secret.....if I like the fit of something I will buy 2 pair and cut one off for shorts:)  I'm cheeky like that.

OK kids.....time to go shopping and check out the other posts from these talented women because I am sure they will give you shopping recommendations!

Click on their names to read what they had to say about white denim.....  AnnieCindy, Mary Ann, Kim, and Noelani

And thanks to all of them for inviting me to join in.....I am honored!

FIVE FALL OUTFITS WITH ONE VINTAGE JACKET

I know everyone is familiar with this scenario.....someone asks you to do something and it is in the future and it's so easy to be caviler about it with a big fat "of course"....cause it's so far in that magical place called "the future" you can't imagine that it will be a problem getting it done.

Then that "magical future" is tomorrow and you are wringing your hands thinking "how in the heck will I get this done????"

Welcome to my life....all the time....everyday.

AND...here we are with a fall fashion post put together by the talented Cindy Hattersley who should be running for office with her persuasive talents....

Anyway....I need to shut up and get on with it cause sitting here complaining will not get the job done!

I am joining some amazing fashion bloggers today who are posting their fashion tips.....since it is for girls over 50 if you are 49...you need to run along and find your own group.....hahahahahaha

Just Kidding.

Let's start with this vintage wool Ralph Lauren jacket that I purchased at Scott's antique Market a few months ago.

I have put together a few ways to wear it....

Here she is with an old silk bow tie blouse....a vintage brown belt.....Gap denim and some Marc Fisher cheetah heels.
Fashion Tip: Don't forget to belt a jacket sometimes...it really gives it a whole new look!

Of course next up is a blue denim shirt from J Crew...a vintage belt that I got at Scott's a while back....the same Gap jeans and cheetah shoes!
Fashion Tip: You will never go wrong with a blue denim shirt!

Changed out the denim to a dark wash and added some old Frye boots that I have had for many years.  I think they were my first pair!
Fashion Tip: A good dark wash denim needs to be in your wardrobe!

Next up is this Target sweater that I got last year....You know how cheap sweaters sometimes don't last but I really hope this one does because I love it and the color is so creamy....and it is NOT itchy!
Fashion Tip: Belt or french tuck the sweater!

So the last look I pulled together with this jacket is a little more dressy!

A pretty tuxedo shirt that I got on major sale from Banana Republic and I layered my pearls on....
Fashion Tip: Pearls always work!

So...one second hand wool jacket can give you many looks.....

I googled this jacket and found one on this site!

It says it is a medium but mine is actually a size 10 so not sure what that means....but you can look on Ebay, Poshmark and other sites like Etsy for vintage RL jackets!  They are so well made it is worth it....

HOLIDAY BOOKS AND FASHION

Thanks for all of your comments on Annie's place!  I love putting together rooms and working with what people have.....maybe it takes the pressure off starting from scratch and then wondering if you made the right decisions:)

I am also wondering if I will ever have a finished project again!  With everything being delayed half done rooms are kind of the norm around here.....

UGH.....kind of takes the fun out of it when I go to order something and it's quoted as coming in late 2022....

But I am sure all of this is considered 1st world problems!

I posted some books on Instagram and somebody asked me to suggest a few of my favorites.  I thought I would give you selections of some I have and some I plan on ordering.

They can all be found on Amazon.

I plan on ordering the first 2 [Ray Booth and Brian Paquette]

I have Marie Flanigan's and The White book but the other 2 look like some I might enjoy!

I also have James Michael Howards book [Phoebe Howards husband] and Andrew Howards [their son]
book.....both of which I love!

I need to order Melanie Turners book because I am a huge fan of her work as well as Ashley Whittaker's book.

AND....if you are renovating a kitchen this year you will love Matthew Quinn's new book on beautiful kitchens!
That one is NOT sold on Amazon but you can purchase it here

Your welcome!

So I went to a party last Saturday night and I was trying to figure out what to wear.  Last spring my neighbor gave me a gift certificate for my birthday to a great store here in Buckhead called the London Trading Co.  Anne and I went together because she thought she could control what I bought....she should know me better than that:)

Anyway.....as soon as we went in I saw this tulle skirt in the window.  Unfortunately it was the only one and a size 6 which is clearly NOT my size but I made them take it down anyway so I could try it on:)

I can be stubborn like that.  Anne was busy throwing things in the dressing room for me to try on but I wasn't having it.  I have always wanted a tulle skirt and I was picturing myself looking like SJP in SATC walking down the street looking so very cute....haha

Guess what.....it must have been mis-marked because it fit.  Anne scowled and said....
"Are you really getting that?"
Me: "Yup."
Anne: "Where will you wear it?"
Me: "To your house for dinner.....every night."

Well it has been hanging in my closet and when I realized I might have someplace to wear it I started trying on things that might go with!

This try on session was early that morning so I had not even washed my face yet:)

I just threw on my glasses and some red lipstick!

It's always cold at this party because they have all the doors open so in the end I just wore the white shirt and kept the scarf over my arm!

It just goes to show you that a tulle or just a black skirt can be so versatile!  Plus here is another small tip....the crystal button was in the back but I just wore the skirt backwards....hahaha

Anyway it was fun and I did feel like a party girl.

I am on the LTK app now [sherryhdesigns] and I try to link everything from my OOTD's that I post on Instagram stories!

If I could figure out how to link it I would....but I am sure you guys can figure it out :)

So there you have it....Christmas gifts and party outfits!

THIS AND THAT APRIL 25

How the heck can I quit blogging when I get so much love from all of you?  I mean even some "diehard lurkers" wrote comments so the pressure is definitely on!

That being said my blog post may be just a little schizophrenic for a while as I have a lot of projects going on but nothing is quite finished:)

Anyway I definitely think my slight depression is situational and it comes and goes for sure.  But hey....with the year we all have had I am sure that is the norm right?  We shall overcome!

So let's see what I have been up to since last week....my appointment on Monday cancelled so that meant I could go look at rugs for a project!

This is the family room....

Now I have not checked stock on these so they could just be auditioning for the role....hee haw.

I am definitely feeling a few of them and hope the stars align so I can at least say yes or no....I want that control you know!

After a few months of waiting this clients mirror finally came and will be installed on Tuesday....excited.

I got some amazing wallpapers from an artist in Tennessee Angela Simeone

Here is some of her other work...you can find here on Instagram also.

And....the lights arrived for the chest so now I have to get going on accessories.

Yesterday I was doing just that so I visited my favorite consignment store  in Atlanta called Swoox

Man they were stocked up with good stuff!

So I have a funny for you....when I was at my neighbors the other night she asked me about fixing up a rarely used guest room.  I went upstairs while she was cooking me dinner [a job she feels privileged to have] to take a look and see where to start.   When I came back downstairs the first thing I said was...."well one boob light is bad enough but who the heck made the decision to put 2 of them in one room?"  I don't think I have ever seen so much bad taste on a ceiling....haha.

So in short...yes this situation needs to be addressed.

I have also put together a little outfit for you:)

And this baby girl likes to nap on the bed while I am getting ready in the mornings....my cutie.

One more thing....apparently the blog service that sends my blog to your email will be discontinued in July.  I am going to try and figure out what the deal is but my advice is to follow Design Indulgence on Facebook as I do put my blog post on there!

So y'all have a great week....I have a small install coming up so I hope to have some design pics soon!
