THIS AND THAT

I don't know how it got to be Sunday again....to be honest I have been struggling with writing my blog lately.  It is hard to pretend that everything is always hunky dory....and sometime I feel like when I read it over....it sounds a little forced...

I am sure y'all don't notice it.  I can tell that I have a little  "low grade" depression and it feels like I need to save all of my energy for work because I have to do that!

I am sure it will pass....as I just keep plugging along because as I have said before and as trite as it sounds TIME is the great healer.

OK....here is whats up.

I started the Netflix series called The Serpent.  Now to be honest I called my sister after episode one [she had already finished it] and said should I keep going?

But she assured me that it would be good so I plowed into episode 2.  She was right.  I have finished 5 episodes now and I want to go in there and finish it but I also want something to watch tonight so I am holding off.  I will tell you that it moves back and forth through some years but you will figure that out pretty quickly.

It is based on a true story and the music and fashion was a draw for me!

Next up is this little situation I purchased from a flea market to go in a loft area for a client.  Since the wait time is so long for upholstery...I thought to go in another direction!  I can not wait to put this area together!

Just think rug and accessories....etc!

At the same house I had the runner installed and it looks so darn good!  It is by Stanton.

So classic....looks like a mans tweed suit.

I was at Kravet last week searching for fabrics and they had a new wallpaper book.  It also has matching fabrics.

They are all drawn by a little boy who has autism...I mean how cute are those giraffes anyway.

Y'all know how much I love my coffee table which is similar to this wood [not shape] and I saw this one at a flea market the other day....swoon!

I also saw this great hand painted lamp...I am assuming. Stunning.

Here is what has been keeping me up at nights....and that is putting together a lighting plan.  If y'all think this is easy I am here to say nope.

I always want a good mix of gold....dark and silver.  Plus you have to figure out which ones will all be in a site line so that it doesn't look busy.

And one more thing...I am excited to be using this wallpaper....

I know...who am I?  I mean this is every color in the book!

Oh but wait there is one more thing.  Take a seat for this one because surprise....it is about cooking.  I have made this soup/stew about 10 times.  To the point where I can get the ingredients from memory.

There you have it.  Just random thoughts and events but hey it's better than a sharp stick in the eye.

I'm not quitting but just know that my post might be sporadic for a bit.

House of Fifty...

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter with friends and family.  Just a reminder about a new e magazine that is launching on Monday.

Janell Beals from Isabella and Max is the founding editor.  I am sure you have all been to her blog and seen the wonderful ideas she shares on a daily basis.  Janell is also the queen of tutorials!
Expect to see not only great design, but topics such as what books to read....food, entertaining and fashion.  Inspiration for the everyday!  I promise you will not be disappointed.

On another note I did go back to the flea market and get these items...

It is going in one of my guest rooms...
And this....which is going in my den.

But....remember the picture I showed you of my floors?  The leak from the DW.  Well listen to this.....they can not be matched.  When we added on to this house we poured a slab so they had to use engineered floors because the boards are shorter and they won't warp.  The old floors in the rest of the house are 3/4 inch hardwoods.  After they were all finished together you could not tell at all.

SO.....We have to MOVE out...[they are moving us out] EVERYTHING in the whole house.  Yes you read that right.  They are replacing all the engineered  floors [the den and kitchen area] and then are going to refinish ALL the floors in the whole house.  AYFKM?????

They also have to take up the granite, kitchen cabinets....holy crap.  I am freaking out but of course my head is spinning.  White floors like my master............everywhere?  WHOA NELLIE......

There's more....so much more....but I won't go into that right now.  This Monday starts the Nicholas House installation.  All week.  And the movers are coming May 2.  I am feeling wound up a little tight right now....

Just talking about it is frightening.....10 days in a hotel with my dogs.

On another note, I wish I could figure out how to get the BH&G magazine shots on my blog without them turning into ? [question marks].  Geez.

The Winner

Lets get right down to it.  I wanted to be like Oprah and say [like she does on the "favorite Things" show] "You are all getting one"!!!   But I only have one so that would not work.  So here is the winner: Rachel Gill.  She has just started a blog called Gilly Grey literally 3 days ago!  She is going to think winning is easy :)

My husband is out of town for the weekend so I think I will go to some flea markets and thrift stores.  Here are a few pictures I found the other day at Antiques and Beyond on Cheshire Bridge Rd here in ATL.

Pink is all the rage......more

This chandelier with the pink crystals....

This plexiglass rolling cart....wanted.

Cool chest covered in raffia.  Really wanted.  I could do this but I am too lazy.

Old lantern.  I want to change out my DR chandelier....it would be my 3rd change in 18 years.  Why can't I just be happy.  I am happy.  Why can't I be satisfied with what I have.  I am....just bored.
I do want a new coffee table in my LR.  Something a little retro, maybe brass.  I am full of wants aren't I.  But I can change it because it is 15 years old.  It is only my second one.....
You know, we don't always get what we want...like I say to my husband when he says "I want you to do your taxes this weekend"  I say...well I want an IPad and I'm not getting what I want ?????

Another little beauty.  Just waiting for a new home.

Is this not the cutest face????
This is what she got her paw caught in a few months back.  Yep...uh huh.  I coyote trap that somebody set on the nature trail in my neighborhood.  Is your mouth still open?

If you don't think this is a story......let me just say "drama"!  There is a small hill on the trail and I was at the top with my other dog and I heard this really loud wail.  I thought it was a cat.  I kept hearing it all the while I was whistling for patches to come.  Then I went stomping back down the hill to see where she was and I saw her laying down.  I realized then that it was HER making that noise.

As I got closer I thought..."dang it's a snake"  But when I walked up I just looked at it like WTF is this????  I tried to open it...are you kidding me...at that moment I started to panic.  I am looking around, thinking what the heck am I going to do while she is wailing in my face.  SO...literally I just braced myself and it was like I was the "green hornet" for a minute.  It opened a little and she whipped her paw out and went running.  She was fine...me on the other hand, I was still sweating.

I just stood there in shock.  Then I started following it to where the base was and pulled it out of the ground.  I was so confused, thinking it was from the civil war or something like that.  I mean I walk this trail EVERY day.

As I finished my walk through the trail and around the block, I got home and called my friend Jan.  Now SHE is the ultimate animal lover.  Remember...I really did not know what it was or why it was there.  She came flying over and flipped out.  It looked rusted and had leaves and pine straw all over it.  It looked MEAN.

As it turned out there was a neighborhood meeting that very night.  She jumped on her scooter with the trap and headed there.  Oh yea...all fired up.  Ready to whoop some ass.  Long story short....after she explained the event with as much drama as she could...I was getting phone calls all week asking if Patches was OK....AND...all traps were removed due to the fact that they had NOT gotten a permit!

Here is my thought...say you catch a coyote.  AND....he has been trapped and he is HUNGRY and PISSED off that he is stuck.  Then what will you do.  Some people do not think things through.....

So...we have a winner...some pretty flea market finds and a story.
Now if you see this riding around this weekend....then you know I had a successful time hunting for treasures.  Wave and say HI.....

Hope you have an awesome weekend.

Scott's...part 2

OK....I am not trying to be mean.  I know how lucky I am to have such a great resource as this.  Really.  But if it makes you feel any better, think of all the money I have spent over the last 20 years.....I would be rich, seriously.  I mean, it was so bad for a while that I did not even go for  2 years.  Why you ask.....because I have no restraint.  It is like crack, and I could not control myself.  I used to go Thursday-Sunday.  Now I go one day.  I had to set limits, plus my garage was  full.
Anyway......here are just a few shots of cool stuff, and then I promise no more (until next month of course).
I wanted these so bad!  I could picture the cute makeover in my head, but no place to put them  Story of my life.
This was just such a cute display.  A beach house window treatment......
Hmmm....silver spoons in a shadow box.  Cute and cheap idea.
Just loved the bright blue inside this cabinet.
I am not a fan of fake greenery, except a fake orchid :).....but these were so cute and natural looking.

And now for a few more pillows.  Don't roll your eyes, cause these are  nice and you can order them custom!
How about that monogram!
Pretty huh?
I think she said that this was the most popular.
I love this one, so classic.

Well there you have it.  You can contact Myra McKinney @ 770 330 4621 if you are interested in any of these.  I think they are pretty special.
So, now it is another 4 weeks until the fun starts all over again.

The Loot

OK...can I tell you how HOT it was yesterday at Scott's?  GUAM HOT.....I kept asking myself "what am I doing out here sweating like crazy, is it worth it?"  Damn right I said!  And here are some of the pictures to prove it!  I actually went with a friend of mine [a Scott's "virgin"] Mimi and she was quite the little trooper.  I mean we got out of the car and walked to the first vendor and she made a purchase.  She was "in", hooked as we say in the scavenger shopping business :)
Here are some of the things I saw, and left behind [insert pouty face here].

Yikes...how cool is this bike?  Just propped against a wall in a beach house?
OK...here is one of my purchases.  I have been looking for the right ones to buy forever.  They were always too small or not the right color.  I turned the corner and BAMM, I was in love.  Not in the budget this month but you know how that goes!  Two of them.

I also bought these large apothecary jars.  They are kind of hard to come by and they will be lamps in my house.  I know I already have one large glass lamp but I don't care!  The good thing about glass lamps is that you can see through them [duh] so it opens up the space somewhat.  My theory anyway, and I am sticking to it.

I then headed over to some of my favorite pillow vendors.  Have I mentioned how much I love pillows?
Love these.  She is from North Carolina and always has gobs of great ones.  I have bought many a pillow from her.
Lavender.....
Coral and Blue....great combo
I have always loved this Osborne and Little fabric!
Jewel tones...they are back.....
I drooled over these two.  Kept trying to make them work in one of my rooms.....She is there every month and I look forward to seeing what gems she has brought along.

These next few are from Lare McCreary, a friend of mine.  He is a great guy, and has just started his  own line.  With 4 girls under the age of 7 I think....he needs you to buy some pillows!  Tu Tu's are expensive :)

gotta love...

If you want to see more, you can contact him at: lare@stuartlawrencedesign.com
He has tons, and actually showed at the Atlanta Mart in July.

This next girl is awesome.  Many of these are one of a kind.  She does do custom also.
hand painted on linen....so pretty
hand painted on burlap
beautiful gray and gold on linen
I LOVE this one
yum...
old linen napkin sewn on rough linen

Now for some things I REALLY loved.
How cute is this?  There were 2 of these and I thought they were ingenious.  I wracked my brain for a place to put them!
And, loved these 2 lamps.  The color was great...
Janis Tant
205 447 1200  if you want them!

OK...more from the "want" pile
How cute is this TV?  I mean really, when are flat screens going to come out in cool colors?  I managed to score a white 42 inch about 4 years ago, but they don't make them anymore.

I thought this was a cool pendant.
Please...a king size headboard in my favorite color for 295.00  Steal...
I could barely walk away from this little puppy....if only they had 2 of them!
Great makeover.....
I know...another glass lamp, but the shape was so cool.
Love this display.  I actually have this tray and did not know what it was used for.  The tag said it was a tray used to dry fruit.  It actually looks pretty dang good with those shells on it.
I loved this girls art.  She is from Athens and priced very well.  I believe this was 199.00 and it was huge!  Here are a few more pictures of her work.

Her name and number is Cecel Allee  706.338.7627  She does not have a web site, but I am sure she could send you pictures of other work.

Ok....so there you have it.  So many cool things...so little money :)  IF I win the lottery tonight, you can bet I will high tail it back tomorrow for a huge shopping spree!
Have a great weekend
Sherry
