FALL DECOR INSPIRATION FROM HELLO LOVELY

I'm so lucky to have Michele as a friend.....she inspires me with her calm aura.....and even though it may seem like we are complete opposites....she is blonde and beautiful with a romantic sense about her and I'm all masculine and clumsy.....we've been connecting online for years!  She is going to share some fall inspiration with you today while I did the same for her readers......

Happy Fall, Design Indulgence fans!

I'm Michele, author of the decor inspiration blog
Hello Lovelyand I'm pumped (see what I did there?)
to bring you pumpkin spice-inspired fall
inspiration as a guest of my friend, Sherry.

It's easy to admire the organic, lovely,
and fresh approach with which Sherry
infuses her designs, and how they sing with an
under-baked and cozy-without-clutter vibe
(yep, I sure did steal "underbaked" from Tom Scheerer).

Sherry is young at heart, and the resultant
buoyancy of spirit illumines her beautiful work.

Much of the interior design inspiration
I share on Hello Lovely features muted,
quiet neutrals, but I appreciate how
luscious, luminous color, like
pumpkin spice orange,
breathes with life, energy, and warmth.

Let's peek at inspiring design accented with
varying shades of this comforting autumnal hue,
and maybe you will decide your own decorating scheme
can be enlivened with a subtle dose of pumpkin spice.

You know that Thoreau quote "I'd rather have
a pumpkin and have it all to myself than be
crowded on a velvet cushion?"

Isn't a pumpkin-spice-hued velvet cushion...like,
the wisest compromise that solves everything?

GUEST POST

About a month ago Kim from Savvy Southern Style asked me if I wanted to be a part of her "my favorite room" series.  "Sure" I said.  While my brain said....."that is like a year  month away so I have plenty of time to tweak the space, photograph, edit and pick the best images".

In usual "Sherika" fashion 2 days before the deadline I got busy in pure panic mode.....which room to do....can I do a complete kitchen reno in a few days.....will my husband please leave for the office so I can start this gig......

Day one I did not even brush my teeth until 3:30 in the afternoon [or get dressed for that matter].  I learned that being a photographer and stylist is dang hard work.  It spilled over into day 2 after I realized some pictures were crappy and I had to try harder.

Is there anyone out there who can tell me why I always wait until the last minute to get something done?

Seriously.....this has always been an issue with me.

Enough.

Kim.  That girl is amazing.  She is my painting muse and paints like any day they might discontinue the whole process and she will be stuck with something that has only been painted 4-5 times.

The horror.

So if you want to see what all this fuss is about head over here

And don't forget about the giveaway...

WHERE YOU WILL FIND ME TODAY

I am taking a little trip to Charlotte, NC today to hang out with Amy Vermillion on her blog.

Amy has been designing beautiful interiors for 18 years and the first time I read her blog she had just finished designing a private jet.

Uh huh.....she can add aviation design to her gorgeous portfolio!

The subject is a peek into our bedrooms and what our nightstands look like.

So redirect yourself here to see what these bloggers: Marianne Simon, Tina from The Enchanted Home, Annie from Most Lovely Things , Amy and myself have to show you.

Meanwhile.....if you feel like I do you might want to punch Monday in it's face.

Just saying.

First of all I am SO excited about all of your comments about my 2 year "blogiversary ".  Good Lord is that even a word?   Webster's?

Ya'll might think I am funny but most of my friends think I am one fry short of a happy meal.....at times anyway.......but I still love most of them.

Today I am over at Amanda Carol at Home.

She and I have a lot in common....she loves coffee....me too!  Fabrics and thrifting....me too.....
News flash......I bet you guys do also...am I right.  Are we all separated at birth?????

Do we need a small country to run?  Do you wait for breaks in conversation so you can start blabbing on about design, paint colors, your latest purchase at the Goodwill?  Are people starting to avoid you?????

Oh yeah...back to Amanda.

She has good taste....for instance her office....

And she can set a pretty table...see...we even both love blue vases.

How about her photography skills....

So go on over....I did a feature called "Coffee With"....and you can bet that I made myself sound way more interesting than I really am....:)

Tuesday I had to rush to the emergency vet with my dog.  He has already been operated on for twisted stomach...uh huh...about 6 grand [that is moola, jack, CASH for those of you interested] for that one, 2 years ago.  He exhibited the same symptoms again so off we went.  Well of course the stomach has already been sewn so that it can not twist again, but he was so bloated and disoriented I knew he was sick.

Turns out that he is just maybe prone to this type of thing....bloat.  Great.  Another 2 grand.  AYFKM?????

Holy Mackerel.....

Sometimes I feel like I just can't get ahead.

Guest Post and updates

.....I am guest posting today over at The Mustard Ceiling....If you haven't been there then you are in for a treat.  She always has some great DIY to share with you.......I wish I had time for more of that!  Elizabeth also designs blogs so if you are in need of a little freshening up then you have found the place.

Are you ready for some randomness?????

Had a consultation the other day with a client.  These were her doors.  I almost ripped them off the hinges.

OK...funny story about this lamp.  I was in Goodwill in Florida when I eyed it.   Checked the price...4.99 and started shaking as I thought WHAT A DEAL!!!!!  So I walked up to the checkout and she said that will be 49.99.  WHAT?  WHEN DID GOODWILL GET SO EXPENSIVE?  [blank stare from saleslady] So I stepped out of line thinking where am I going to put it?  I mean how many lamps can I have.  Where does it stop?

Walked around clutching for life carrying it for 30 minutes.....I put it back.

Then I saw this picture on Shades of Light and saw the price.  $250.00.  I wanted it more.  Bad decision.

New fabrics from Durlaee....linen.  Nice.

New wallpaper from Thibaut.  I kinda like it.

Another one....

I was messing around with my nightstand....Ha Ha....my husband came home that night and said...were you taking pictures again?  Yup.  Geez...he never notices anything.

Remember these.....
That became this.  I just threw that in.  I CAN do a diy.  Just not very often.

Clients brass chandelier.....went from this...

To this.  She has 3 brass chandeliers...so one had to go.  Well they might all go cause it is hard for most people to grasp that it is back in style.  I mean, I think only bloggers know this.

The fireplace.....

It is looking good.  And yes those are wires for a TV that you are seeing.  We have to.....it is their den and the only place it can go.  Life.

Random Wednesday.  Has a nice ring to it huh?

Dig in to the day.....

Guest Post

Before I get to the guest post over at The Enchanted Home....I must address another issue that has come up.

OK....let's see how to go about this.  On my last post I mentioned that I saw Ryan Gainey at Scott's.  Someone who commented was very upset about the remarks I made concerning him.  For the record, here is how I explained it to her in an email:

I have lived in Atlanta for 20 years so I am well aware of how  talented Ryan is.  When I was at Scott's, I was having a conversation with another published "gardener" .  We both looked up and saw Ryan and another person, at which point he saw her and came over.  As the friend he was with started talking to my friend, I politely asked Him if I could take a photograph.  He glanced at me and said yes, then proceeded to turn away.  Famous or not, it would have taken a second to look into the camera at the very least.  I realize he is "quirky", but that does not exclude bad manners does it?  After a few moments, he turned to me and asked if I was a jewelry designer.  It seemed so out of context as I did not even have any jewelry on except a watch and pair of earrings.  I politely said no and before I could even respond further, he had already dismissed me. Which was fine, my inflated ego could handle it.

I never said that he wasn't talented.  I realize I am NOT a famous blogger, or "world renowned" anything!  Which was the point of the "over exaggeration".   Of course, I realize some people do not appreciate nor enjoy my sense of humor.  Sometimes I don't even think I am funny......but honestly, it was not intended to be mean spirited and I was certainly not making fun of someone who is disabled [in a wheelchair, etc].

Further more, I certainly did not say anything about his wonderfully talented ability to transform the earth into beautiful spaces.  Or about him on a personal level.  I was merely  interpreting  how I felt the rendezvous went from my perspective.

That said, I do have some beautiful images of his work [taken from his website] to share with you today.  His 2 acre garden in Decatur, Georgia has been featured in every major gardening publication in the United States and abroad.

It goes without saying that I wish this was my backyard.

Not just a birdbath....but A. Birdbath.

Somebody is real lucky to look out their window and see this.

Love this.....

I could see myself strolling the grounds.
More gorgeousness.....

There...is everyone satisfied....of course nothing I could say on my tiny insignificant blog could affect this man's talent or worth.  No matter how hard I tried.

Disclosure**********please understand that any funny comments I make concerning fabric, pillows, lamps, design, people I do not know, dogs, cars, hair, the weather, paint colors, TV shows, movies, my husband, famous people  are probably made because I am trying to be witty, humorous, entertaining, rib-tickling, wacky, zany, off the wall, amusing, facetious, or tongue in cheek.  Do not take me serious.  Ever.**********Disclosure

Now.....please head over to The Enchanted Home to see what I came up with for Tina while she moves into her castle.....just kidding people!!!

If you get this today...I will be at Tina's on the 18th.

Don't forget about the West Palm giveaway.....

Monday ramblings.....

Good morning...I am still in my jammies...yes I know it is 8:46.  I might even have a second cup of coffee. Maybe.  I usually only drink a half cup.  Cause I hate when it gets cold.

We'll see.

Anyway here is the scoop for today.

First thing is Becca from GARDNERS 2 BERGERS is featuring my foyer today and how I recovered my bench.   Becca is a queen of DIY.   I got so caught up in reading her blog and seeing all of the projects she has managed to tackle.  Seriously, that girl has some mad skills......please go check out her  project gallery!

Then I was reading a few blogs this morning....yeah there is a news flash, and came across something to share with you.  Lisa Mende is a blogger/designer in Charlotte North Carolina.  She was at market and saw this great idea called Tempaper.  I am going to let her give you the 411 so go here  and see what I am talking about!  It is certainly for bloggers who can not commit.....you know who you are :)

After much procrastinating I managed to fill a wooden bowl with some Christmas greenery.  Whoopie.  Look at me...a real Martha Stewart.  Let's face it though....she has people to execute her designs.

I got this bowl at Scott's.  It is HUGE.

I love the metal plates on it.  It was only $50.00  Pretty good for a dough bowl that big.

Then I worked my magic with greenery and some clementines in a bowl.
Kind of Christmasy right?????  Not really magic.

I'll probably finish up on the 23rd like I did last year and then leave town on the 27th.  What is the point. I don't know.

I have one last thing to share.
If you have been reading Design Indulgence for a while you know I am NOT a wiz bang in the kitchen. Today with one little picture I am going to prove this to you.

Here is a peeler.
I am sure you are thinking.....yeah so what.  Well I have had this thing for a while and always wondered why it did such a crappy job peeling.  In fact I think I bought a new one but this one managed to stay in the drawer also.

As I was taking it out of the DW the other day I noticed this.  What the hell......Oh.....hmmmmm.  I had never taken this little sticker off.

And we wonder why shampoo comes with directions.  For people like me.

I did finish my project this weekend!

Don't forget the giveaway......

Mondays are for getting things done and making a weekly list.

Here's hoping it is not too long :)
