JIM THOMPSON no. 9 AND HOUSE OF FIFTY

Have you guys seen the cover of Southern Living for May?

Seriously, it had me a beautiful.

Let's explore shall we?

Is this room so dang pretty?  Why yes it is.

Shall we see the before?

The perfect palette....nada.

BAM x's a 100.

Love....Love....Love the curtain fabric which is Bamboozle by Jim Thompson no.9
Uh huh.

Top pillow fabric is Quadrille
Animal fabric is Quadrille
Pink fabric is Brunschwig & Fils
Bottom fabric is Schumacher.

The room was decorated by Lindsay Ellis Beatty.
Bravo to Lindsay.....she wasn't afraid to commit.

Since we are talking about Jim Thompson no.9.....here is another little pretty I brought home from ADAC the other day.  It is called Enter the Dragons.
Yes...no?
Here is what the print looks like.

It is so dang "Palm Beachy".  With all of it's mint green badness.

Could. You. Die.

Speaking of color people....

The new issue of HOF is beeeeuuuutiiiful.  I have it on my ipad....so I can savor every gorgeous picture and read all of the articles.
Who is proud of Janell???

OK......sometimes it is fun to see the inner workings of design decisions.

I had about 10 pictures re-matted for a client.  They were all ugly.  Not the pictures but the mats.    I was trying to keep them pretty neutral.  The problem was that the backgrounds of the pictures/etchings were different colors.

Some were very yellow, some pink.  It was crazy.  I used a small border of gray on a few to help with the difference of color between the mat and the image.

I laid them out to see which arrangement I liked the best.

Random...no.  I know my client and she would not dig this.

This is better but I had to tweak the middle row.

This works for me.

This is in her husbands office.  Gotta keep him happy right :)

We hung her old curtain rods.  We pulled off the 100.00@yd Schumacher swags, it was painful.  No can do boo boo.

I am so glad gold is back in style!

Instead we are going to go with navy taffeta silk panels.  Here is the rug that is going in there.  Don't hate on the accessories....can't really hook up this room until we install curtains, rug, and chair has been recovered.

This one was in her dining room.  We get new for in there...:)

So there you go.  It's a process people.  You know that.

I went to Scott's today.  Made it home with only a $5.00 purchase.

Whew.

Beach countdown....I'll be there in 48 hours...

The Atlanta Mart

Thanks for all the comments on my makeover at the beach rental.  Somebody mentioned that they don't like "theme" rooms, but they thought I scooted under the radar on this one!!!  I am not a fan  either so I am glad I stopped when I did :)  Whew.

I hope everyone of you have scoured the new issue of House of Fifty.  Janell and her whole crew knocked it out of the park with this issue.  Honestly they just keep getting better and better.  So many pretty pictures [don't we love those] and a ton of inspiration.

I was enjoying it on my ipad driving home from Florida on Wednesday.  You do know they have an app right????

I have ton's of pictures from my visit to the mart.  I have never been to Highpoint.....but maybe this is a mini version.

I am going to try and edit so I can give you the best of the best.  That is going to be hard......

Check out these rugs from Ariana Rugs in California.  They have so many more on their site.

Could you die???

I did not see one I would turn down.

Help me Jesus.

These have Mrs. Howard written all over them....

Each one they flipped over was my favorite :)

I was waiting for this one....
OMG.....please can I have......

I will never tire of blue and brown.  I promise.

Another company.  Sorry I did not get their name.

OK....I am going to jolt you out of your dreamy colors here.....be warned.

I like it though.
So while we are on rugs, might as well keep going.

Genevieve Gorder's new line for Capel Rugs.  I love the yellow one......

I love some of these....

More on their web site here.

Let's change course....At Home With Marieke

So dang cute.
Love it all....
Textiles, china......

Has a great vintage look....

This is what I climbed every day.....156 stairs.....and then you round the corner and there are 48 more.

One more picture just so you can REALLY see what I am talking about here.....

Hey check out these bar stools I saw....pretty clever huh?

A company called Gabby.....they have a great line.  Located in Montevallo, AL.

OK......One more load of laundry and then I HAVE to get a pedicure.  Seriously my toenails are so long they broke through my socks.  They look like the toes of a buzzard.  Swear.  I know I can cut them myself.  Geez y'all sound like my husband, but it is all about the experience right?

I'm doing it.

More mart later......Sheriky

House of Fifty, Boxwoods, and a little HGTV show called Donna Decorated Dallas......

OK...first let's start with the new issue of House of Fifty.

Baby it is live, as I am sure you all know!  And the cover had me at "modern country".....that photo is stunning.  Congratulations to Janell and her team because they are working it so right.....

Next up I have a few pictures/ideas from a store I went to recently in Atlanta.....yes another one.  Stand down people....I KNOW all of you do not live here but this is my hometown and I have to support all these design/home stores.  Retail is tough out there!

Boxwoods Garden and Gifts has an eclectic mix of decorative accessories, antiques and vintage furniture.  It has always been a go to place if you needed a beautiful arrangement that might include an orchid, greenery and a beautiful container.  Now they have opened a home store.

WOWZA.....it is beautiful!

This was on display right when you walked in, and I have to say that Brook and Steve would be proud.  There is quite the "patina style" in this store!

The stairs are just raw pine, but with a gray stain on them.....

I love how primitive they look.

Yes siree bob.....I want this ceiling.

The white wood is just strips of PLYWOOD.....white washed.  Uh huh......

Burlap curtains...so simple!  The walls were a beautiful grayish french blue.

Holy Christmas......this chair has my name written all over it.....invisible ink...:)

Want some dishes with greek key?  I do.

How about some hot damn gorgeous silverware!!!

This chest started singing when I looked at it.  I think it felt it's own "hotness"....

Iloveantiquemirrorsomuch.

Burlap padded walls.....I want these when they finally put me away :)

The edge of a cool bench....

Need some smokin cool tablecloths?

Yeah...this had me dreaming.....what a ceiling.

White and gray with a touch of green is so damn special....
I like that you can hang this on the wall...

Old shutters....dishes stacked....and a cool console.  Just doesn't get much better.

Everywhere I looked....gorgeousness.....If you are in Atlanta....you must go take a look.  There is so much to see here.

OK...one last thing.  Has anyone seen the HGTV show Donna Decorates Dallas???  That is one crazy show.  I thought it was supposed to be funny at first.  OK....I am not going to sit here like I am the authority on all things design because that is not the case.  But I am just wondering is it a regional thing?  Kind of like Swedish design is light and airy, and homes in the mountains are kind of woodsy and such?  Cause that girl can pile on the bling.

I guess that is why there is chocolate, strawberry and vanilla......everybody wants something different.  For me.....and I am like Oprah right now [remember when she said she didn't like beef].....it is not quite my style...just saying.   On a positive note...she is real pretty.  And she will do an install in 6 inch heels..gotta hand it to her on that one.

Last chance for the giveaway......

52 days until Christmas.....Get going!
