Sweets I am thankful for

Orange-kissed cinnamon rolls from The Smile to Go—vegan, no less.
Teuscher champagne truffles. Perfection.
One Girl Cookies, in general.

Receiving the gift of Levain cookies.
Breakfast club with Bennie. Especially one that includes almond croissants at Lafayette.
Or gluttony at Doughnut Plant.
Peanut butter cookies from City Bakery. Sigh.
Butter Lane cupcakes. Take your pick.

And from Paris...

The untouchable praluline

Les escargot from Du Pain et des Idées.

Anything from Jean-Paul Hévin.

A light and lovely Gerard Mulot croissant.

And the Ispahan croissant from Pierre Hermé.

So, so much to thankful for.

Teuscher champagne truffles, bestill my beating heart

Cupid seared my heart when he delivered a box of Teuscher champagne truffles.

I hadn’t had them in years (which is shameful, I was reminded, upon first bite).

I took my time, admiring their bullet-like shape.
And then did a little aerial surveillance…
A fine dusting of confectioner’s sugar.

Inside, the rich smoothness of the dark chocolate ganache…
…surrounding the champagne core that has just the slightest crunch.
Effervescent. Decadent yet subtle. Sublime.

This week’s obsession: 5 pounds

It was a heavyweight week. The kind that I’ll notice, and chide myself for, every time I pull my jeans on next week.

There was the ooey gooey Sugar Sweet Sunshine cupcake with Alex. I had to do chocolate chip cookie recon. I was treated to Michel Cluizel dark chocolate ganache truffles. Dried pineapple from Commodities. Four courses of dessert, baked with Pichet Ong. And a sugary sweet liege waffle.
