EVARISTE

" Often regarded as the French Kim Fowley, Evariste is a well-kept secret needing to get out there NOW. Genius, creative and with a very poisoned language in the lyrics of his songs. A mix between ye ye, garage and hallucinated experimental rock. Evariste is probably one of the most interesting musicians from the French 60s rock scene, though maybe too weird to have really had that recognition from the public and media at the time! And Michel Colombier is involved in these recordings too! This first time ever reissue of his works includes his complete discography, thats two Eps and one single. Remastered sound, and limited to 500 copies. "
A portuguese label (no smoke records) released this LP a few days ago. Shame on the french record industry!

"trames sonores" a dj set by Dj Pâté

dj set special "trames sonores" by Felix aka Dj Paté (originally broadcast on Bande A Part)

From Quebec, Vente De Garage, Le Blogue proudly presents Félix aka Dj Pâté a dj set spécial "trames sonores", selected rare groovy music including selected soundtracks and movie dialogs from the 60/70s. Movies: Après Ski, L'amour humain, Y'a toujours moyen de moyenner, Le diable est parmi nous and so many others.

As Félix says: "it's hot, it's sexy and strange sometimes"

music and sound-design cut from public-domain horror and science-fiction films from c.1930-1970

"Sounds to Come" is the second installment of a series on Chinstrap of music and sound-design cut from public-domain horror and science-fiction films from c.1930-1970. curated by our dear Ergo Phizmiz, available for your listening horror via Free Music Archive.

The aim of the releases is the reframing of digital artefacts - although the pieces have been recut and equalised, we are not aiming to present definitive versions of these recordings, we rather present the work for the possibility of further investigation into the composers, sound-designers, film-makers, and of course the films themselves, which are available, in the main, for free download at Archive.org.

Wally Richardson - soul guru

Wally Richardson - khyber pass boogaloo

Wally Richardson came out of a rhythm and blues, soul jazz and pop experience. Because of this background and music reading ability, he was very active as an all around studio guitarist in the late 50’s/60’s/70’s. He recorded a good cult album of psychedelic jazz funk which is now a collectors item. “Soul Guru” came out in 1969 on Prestige Records in New Jersey. Janko Nilovic goes voodoo

" Janko Nilovic is one of these extremely productive musicians. He was especially hyperactive in 60s and 70s and it is almost impossible to gutter all the information about his recordings. He says that he has recorded at least 150 singles and maybe even twice that figure. He has recorded also under following pseudonymous: ALAN BLACKWELL, EMILIANO ORTI, JOHNY MONTEVIDEO, ANDY LOORE, HEINZ KUBE, BILL MAYER, ENNIO MORANDI, PHILIPPE GRAY, THE TEXAS TRAVELLERS and probably some more. He is still very active and composing in all the styles as he used to (clasical, pop, jazz, funk...). " From Janko Nilovic official webpage.

Now you can listen to 3 Janko's VERY RARE 7' records, under the alias "Voodoo Ju Ju". Thanks to the original "diggers/rippers/uploaders" Dj Alfonso and Christian Aubrun

ska-motion in ska-lip-so

lazy mood ... sunny day ... really don't want to work today ... you shouldn't listen to this album!

"The Hiltonaires were named for Kingston's Hilton Hotel, where they were the house band. Though not necessarily the best mento group ever recorded, The Hiltonaires may have been the most prolific, recording six LPs during mento's middle period. They also toured North America.
this LP adds an electric guitar ska chop to some tracks, but the music is really still mento in both instrumentation and repertoire (even if the word "Ska" is worked into some of the titles of familiar mento songs, like "Ska and Fall Back" instead of "Dip and Fall Back")". via mento music

évariste

Another obscure french screaming artist from the sixties: Evariste (Joël Sternheimer), a 23 years old scientist, who decided to sing in order to pay his own research in theoretical physics as the U.S. had cut off the credits because of the Vietnam War.
His songs are always cynical and hilarious. "La Révolution" is a perfect exemple, i love him as much as Hector (see previous post)

Hans Edler

I hope Mr Dante Fontana didn't post anything about him before ... for those of you who don't know him, i urge you to listen to this true pioneer of electronic music from Sweden.

Hans Edler - Elektron Kukéso (1971) album is available via exp etc (you will find there lots of great and unique music believe me!)

About Hans Edler ...
"In the early 1960's, Edler turned into a teen idol in Sweden with his bands The Ghostriders and We 4. Later, he initiated his own record label wich during the 1970's released anything from obscure progressive rock and children's records to religious and classical music, all at a frienzied pace. He produced numerous shows for Swedish television during the 1980's and also wrote hyms and music for choirs. These days he is devoting his time to techno and dance oriented music, orginizing rock festivals with a nostalgic touch and managing young bands for export outside sweden. And that is only part of it.
However, very few people know about his short but intensive career as the wild man of vintage electronica.
The same goes for the offspring that came of it - a one-of-a-kind album named 'Elektron Kukéso' which not only contains some of the most odd sounds ever scratched into vinyl, but also seems to be the world's first computer-programmed LP in the history of rock 'n' roll, at least occording to Edler.
