Obscure and hard to find, self-released cassette promo by The Cygnet Ring.
The Cygnet Ring were a early 90's madchester band band best known for their song "Love Crime". The band was founded by singer Rus Harrison who had previously been in a local indie band called Playing At Trains and had gained a cult following around the late 1980s.
The Cygnet Ring released a number of 7" and 12" singles during their existence and recorded one full-length album called Hopeful Monsters that was never officially released.

After checking their Playing At Trains page on Discogs i found that they also released this ''Higher" demo tape in 1989 as Playing At Trains, with same tracklisting for Adventure Cassettes label.
You can find info here.
As Playing At Trains they released two singles and recorded one album "Go!" only as cassette promo, also for Adventure Cassettes label. It was probably their own label, i think that this album was never officially released.

I'm collecting obscure and hard to find madchester, indie & shoegaze bands from late 80's & early to mid 90's period. Anything i can find, unreleased demos & tracks, demo & cassette tapes, unreleased singles and albums, white label promos, DJ promos, exclusive unreleased material, etc. Check my Wanted Records list, too.

Compiled by Adrian Gibson who was the programmer at North London's Powerhaus venue at the time. The Powerhaus was owned by the Mean Fiddler Group who turned a pub called the Pied Bull into a live music venue for a limited time from 1989 - 1995. The site of the venue is now a Halifax Building Society and is located at 1, Liverpool Road, London, N1.

The idea behind the compilation is to showcase 10 of the hottest new bands who were coming through the ranks of the venue around that time. All of the songs were mastered from the band's demo tapes. There was a launch night at the Powerhaus where all 10 bands played short sets. Adrian Gibson was interviewed on Gary Crowley's GLR Radio Show on the day of the event to promote the show.

This was the first official release by SUEDE before they changed musical direction and signed to Nude Records. They were managed by Nadir Contractor at the time who went on to be a live music promoter and then a product manager at Sony Records.

Obscure early 90's UK baggy band from Manchester, members were : John Walker (vocals & guitar), Phil Rawson (guitar), Jason Graham (drums & vocals) and Sean Illson (bass).

In 1991 they released great two track cassette demo single ''Talk To Me (Don't Be Shy)''.

 

Anyone remembers this band, have any info, unreleased tracks or demos ? Are there other demo tapes or official 12'' singles from Yellowfields ?

Great indie rock/indie dance band from Hartlepool, United Kingdom, formed in 1986 and active on the live scene around the UK from 1987 to 1995, releasing three cassette albums ''Procession'' in 1991, "Threads" in 1993 and "Impact" in 1994.

Initially part of the baggy / indie-dance wave circa 1990, the band became ever more experimental and darker as they progressed into the nineties.

Ambitious Beggars started out in the early '80's in Manchester. The band were originally called Ignition & were fronted by John Bramwell, who went on to be a minor legend on the Manchester scene calling himself Johnny Dangerously. He later re-emerged as the critically acclaimed & fairly successful I Am Kloot. They signed to Ugly Man Records in 1989, Bob Kemp took over the lead role in the band and they released their first single, ska influenced "Man In A Suit"/"The Shadow". Next came the "Welcome" EP. The next thing you know the whole Madchester scene is in full flow & record companies are flocking north to find the next Stone Roses. This was the opportunity they'd been waiting for, but somehow despite a large Manchester following & a well received national tour supporting James, they remained unsigned.

''Beg EP'' is madchester influenced single, real shame it was never officially released, all tracks are great, especially my favourites from this band - ''Tambourine'' and "Fear".

I'm looking for untitled solo album from Mark Bandola, vocalist of 80's new wave/indie rock band The Lucy Show. Album was self released by Mark Bandola only on cassette for promo purposes, but was never officially released on any label.

 

Finally in 1992, Bandola released amazing debut single '''Til Tuesday EP'' for Nursery label.

Three tracks from unreleased album were included on this single.
