Poppy Factory were a band from Bradford, England, signed to Chrysalis Records. They were: Jock Cotton (voice, guitar, words), Michael Dale (keyboards and bass guitar) and Jon MacDonald (keyboards).
They released one EP and three singles. Their debut, 'The Fabulous Beast EP', met critical acclaim and was played by a number of radio DJs and stations (it was notably thrashed by Rock FM's Tim Lancaster), though its chart performance didn't match industry reception. Next came the 7'' 'Stars', and then "7x7", produced by David Creffield.
The band's contract with Chrysalis foundered, and they self-released a 12'' promo, 'Drug House' before fading into obscurity.
An LP, 'Goodtime' was recorded, but never released by Chrysalis. 
The band's frontman Mickey Dale later rose to fame as the keyboard player for Embrace.

After a very very long time, one of the records from my Most Wanted Records list finally arrived on the blog. Fantastic and really hard to find baggy influenced 12'' promo single ''Drug House'' by Poppy Factory. One of the most underrated bands from early 90's period that should much bigger and famous, they released three amazing singles, debut album titled ''Good Times'' was recorded, but unfortunately never officially released.

Some of you know that for very long time i'm looking for unreleased album by Poppy Factory - madchester pop band from Bradford, England. They released three singles in 1991 on Chrysalis Records: ''Stars EP'', ''Fabulous Beast EP'' and ''7x7''. Debut album titled ''Good Times'' was recorded but never officially released. Finally i found few unreleased tracks, at least five on this compilation, that i think are taken from this album.
I'm looking for more info about ''Good Times'', all help will be appreciated. Until then, enjoy in this great collection. Fantastic band.

Early 80's UK indie band from Bradford. Band members were Jock Cotton, Jonathan MacDonald Binns and Paul Bahr.
They released three singles: Colour It 7'' (1983), The Next Big Thing 12'' (1984) and Schoolboy Saint 7'' (1985).

After The Word, Jack Cotton and Jonathan MacDonald formed great early 90's baggy pop band Poppy Factory. I'm sure most of you heard about Poppy Factory through my blog. I've posted all their singles and i'm still looking for their unreleased album ''Good Times''.
